Good Ethiopian food, however pricey The Royal platter ($35pp) gives a sample of all 8 dishes. Food was overall tasty, the meats were a little tough and dry. The injera had a subtle sour flavour and was soft and fresh. The chef came out to greet us and show us how to eat with our hands the authentic way. For the price paid I would expect unlimited refills of injera like all other Ethiopian restaurants I’ve been to. We had to order an extra serve of injera which costs extra Service was friendly and restaurant was clean with a vanity to wash your hands. Food was served about 20mins after ordering

Worth a try but a little underwhelming. I'm not that experienced with Ethiopian food, but from the few experiences I've had I feel that this place is comparatively just a bit meh. It's a cute atmosphere with a lovely waitress the second time we came (service was a bit slow/confusing the first time we went). I think this place is worth trying if you just really want Ethiopian food. The food overall is acceptable, but for me the let down is the quality of the meat dishes. The flavour is good, but the meat is very dry and a bit tough. My recommendation to the chef is to cook the meat for longer so it becomes softer as well as use a fattier cut of meat so that it is more succulent. The meat dishes would be great if they did this! The way the meat is cooked to be very dry seems like a very strange choice and surely not appealing to most people.

The royal platter is a mix of eight meat and veggie options, plus yoghurt and salad, served on soft and spongy injera bread. Everything was delicious and it's great to have a whole range of flavours and textures. At about $34pp we were very satisfied with the value and left satisfied. Server was friendly and attentive, and the Ethiopian music was fantastic. Hope to see this place stick around and grow in popularity, it deserves it! Didn't realise it was BYO, but will know for next time!

Bit of a shame the service here wasn't great. I was super excited to finally try Ethiopian food and in the local Ashfield area! My partner and I arrived as the first customers of the night at around 5:50, ordering at 6 and unfortunately we didn't even up leaving until 8pm due to the slow service. We only ordered a main each and a coffee experience too. When we arrived, it felt very tense as well, the server was on her phone, charging it on the wall and the person in the kitchen was definitely chatting on loud speaker to someone, really creating a vibe that we were intruding on something, even though it was empty. The service itself was slow, very slow, and the server seemed so out of it and not wanting to be there with no mannerisms to make us want to enjoy eating there. We had a small table towards the back corner but a group of six arrived and we were asked to move, which is fine in itself, but if there's only one other table of four in the restaurant, it makes me question if the tables are appropriately set up if only two other tables are taken and one group of six makes you need to adjust everyone else's spacing. I can't comment on the food itself because this was my first time trying Ethiopian food and maybe it's not my taste but it was very cold, which doesn't make sense because it took over an hour to be delivered to our table. Also just looking at other pictures posted here, it seems we had a smaller serving than others??? The coffee experience was a treat though, and I recommend it, but the server said it would be "five minutes", only for our coffee to take over 15, which, once again, is fine, but please let us know the truth rather than underestimate the timing and leave us questioning what's happening. The lack of personality from the server and the bland decor really ruined our experience overall, and the wait times really made me not want to come here again. Also, after calculating our food and the total we recieved, we were definitely overcharged. $10 for corkage!?! Or did the server automatically add a tip for herself?? She wouldn't give a receipt so I don't know. Won't be running back here, but I'm glad there's a variety of cuisines to try locally.

My friends and I had a pleasant Ethiopian dining experience. The food tasted pretty good and I experienced a unique Ethiopian coffee drinking experience, which was almost like a ceremony. The price was a bit high but you get a lot for your serving so it was quite worth it. The menu options were a little bit limited, but I would definitely be keen to come back if they expand the menu. Overall, would recommend for an authentic Ethiopian food dining experience!

Loved this new local restaurant. The food was delicious, the injera was amazing. Our friend who is well acquainted with Ethiopian food said it was one of the best she'd ever tasted! The cosy restaurant space was perfect for a catchup with mates. Between 5 of us, we tried all but one of the menu items and there were no complaints. Will definitely return for a second round 💕

We had such an amazing dinner here tonight. We had the vegan banquet and it was absolutely delicious. The service was great and the food arrived quickly. We will definitely be coming back soon!

Food was really great, although it did take a while to come out considering there were only a few tables. The ambience in the place was uncomfortably quiet, so we decided to wait outside for our takeaway. Ethiopia has such incredible music - I suggest playing some music inside would really improve the vibe inside and make it feel more relaxed and welcoming to customers. It's so terrific that Ashfield has an Ethiopian restaurant now! The food was really tasty and a fair price. There was a lot of containers for our takeaway - maybe using those cardboard tray style containers (with lots of little dividers) that Lebanese restaurants use for platters could be a cheaper and more environmentally friendly option? I just wanted to pass on that feedback especially re: the ambience inside the restaurant because I think if you worked on that you would have more dine in customers and your restaurant deserves success! We will be back again soon. :) (We visited a few months ago, so this review reflects that visit).

Came here yesterday to try Ethiopian food for the first time & it was delicious! ordered the royal platter for 2, decent portions and left here full. Only downside is that it’s quite hard to find parking but it’s well worth!

Tasty Ethiopian food suitable for vegans and meat-eaters alike! Highly recommend you get the platter. You can tell the chef/owner has a lot of pride in her cooking! I also shared the 'coffee experience' with my partner, it was a great end to complement the delicious food.

Don’t let the appearance of this place fool you. It was a quiet Friday when I dined here with someone. We ordered the Royal platter for 2. It basically has all the meat and veg options with Injera. The injera was enough for both of us and we even left some (sorry !). The food was absolutely amazing and authentic and they played music from Ethiopia too on their little screen. It’s BYO so def get your bottle of wine and enjoy this amazing meal to be had with your hands. Staff are attentive and polite. Don’t waste your time and money going to Jambo Jambo in Glebe. This place is the real deal !! I only rated atmosphere 4/5 because it was really hot and it was a warm summer day. That’s a me issue. Hahaha
