Amazing service, great food, and pretty place to be.

It was a beautiful day just right for lunch at the Mt Barker Hotel. A lovely happy girl took us to our table. It was schnitzel day. $19 with chips and salad and your choice of sauces. Mine tasted just like a roast chicken. Delicious. Panko crumbed so lovely and crunchy. The chips crisp and hot. My only gripe was the disgusting salad dressing. It tasted like cooking oil mixed with something sour. I couldn't eat it. It was vile. So all told a lovely day. Except for one server who must be on a bad day. No smile, no easy banter. Thank you. Nice clean bistro with large meal pirtions

Had the sirloin steak and it was absolutely amazing. the best steak I’ve ever had from a pub / hotel. Great work guys. Very nice venue too

Service was good. Food was alright I had a roast and some of the veggies were not cooked long enough. Hubbie had the fish and liked it.

We've been here twice now with our children and have enjoyed both times. Food has been excellent both times. Good sized, classic pub meals done well and at a reasonable price. Great customer service both times. The staff are friendly. Colouring in stuff for the kids. Wheel chair accessible. They've done a really good job with the place. Modern and comfortable fit out with some attention to detail I noticed with acoustic treatment built in to help control the noise of a room full of people chatting. Nice touch! It's definitely high on our list of places to eat when we want a good value pub meal.

Welcoming and warm atmosphere; tasty and big dishes which were well plated, especially the specials. And front of house were courteous.

Nice dining atmosphere. Staff very polite. Had the scallop special. Rather disappointed. Too many flavours competing with each other. I wasn't expecting such an overpowering mix n match of flavours. I will try a more classic dish next time.

Good atmosphere with tables spaced far apart so it wasn't overly noisy. All in our party liked the meals, which were generous portions and priced between $27 to $38. I had the roast lamb and vegetables on the specials menu.

Family father's day get together for 16 people. Food was delicious and nutritious with good size servings. Staff welcoming and polite

I have never seen a more ridiculous menu in my life. Out of the 3 of us there were so many items listed which we had absolutely no idea of what ingredients were being used. Unbelievable. Two girls standing at the bar were unknowledgable, unhelpful and uninterested. We went elsewhere for lunch.

It doesn't have the most inspired interior design but the vegetarian food is absolutely fabulous. They always have really interesting and very tasty dishes on the menu.

Not great to be honest. Made a booking and paid a similar bill that we would at a decent restaurant, which stings a bit with a gaming room next door. 50min wait on two Parmi’s, which would have been fine if we were given the heads up when ordering. Non-enthused staff, which is also understandable at times. We were given a bit of attitude when we mentioned the wait time, and a very lacklustre sorry afterwards. The meals were sizeable but average quality.

I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat, this is because when my friend and I walked in we weren’t acknowledged or shown to a table, completely ignored by the waitress. She saw us finally and we asked for the drinks menu and she said they weren’t serving meals yet when all we asked for was the drinks menu? The menu was shoved in our hands and the waitress seemed extremely bothered she had to stop what she was doing to serve us…. So we put the menu down said thank you and walked out. Horrible service and horrible hospitality won’t go back again!

We booked a table in the previous week for twenty for a Sunday evening. We arrived a little earlier than anticipated, but all had been prepared for us. Bar staff were wonderful. Our orders were taken efficiently and the meals came out promptly. There was one minor mix-up with one persons meal, but this was remedied readily and without any fuss. The meals themselves were great. Tasty, hot and made with fresh ingredients. This pub is well worth a visit if you are in Mt. Barker.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit for lunch! The staff were lovely (unfortunately we had a discrepancy with the wine pricing with one staff member...hence the 4 star rating... don't tell us the price you think it is before ringing it up then surprising us with a $10 difference) and the food was well received in a timely manner that reflected the amount of patrons for a Sunday afternoon 🙂

Nice covered outside area, very comfortable looking bistro. If you just want a drink in the day be prepared to weave around the bistro tables because the bar is closed until 4pm, but the 'feel' is a general discouragement for a casual drink unless you're eating.

Great food, the kids were entertained by the Magician and the children’s food was very well priced & they had a free Icecream. We were impressed with the menu and quality of food. Friendly, helpful waiting staff. A terrific evening. Thank you 😊

Helpful friendly bistro staff. Tasty Gluten free options available and allergies taken seriously and accommodated. Nice fresh food and yes we will dine here again. Indoor and outdoor dinning options.

Absolutely great service by the bar staff, the guy who served us had his wrist in a cast and still working extremely well and taking the time to train new staff very polite, professional and super helpful and then the food all I can say is wow we had the garlic bread, cauliflower with white bean puree and a delicious green salad, we were also lucky enough to be surprised by the chef with a truly delicious starter to try which we absolutely loved, a chickpea pancake with a white bean hummus with apricots,nuts and fresh mint WOW hope it goes on the menu Thanks barker staff for the great service and delicious meal we had we shall see you in another fortnight. Sorry we didn't take photos we were to busy enjoying it

Menu could be larger, and servings could be bigger for some items. Otherwise very good

We had my husbands 50th at the Barker. The staff bent over backwards leading up to it. We felt very welcome. On the day everything was perfect, the service, the music, the platters - everything! Thanks to Kahla and staff, all our guests had a great time.

My friend and I visited yesterday, but the welcoming was soo rude and it felt like staff don’t care anymore, before we came here a lot of time and staff was polite but now staff have kinda attitude that they don’t care, even the food taste have degraded, ambience is good but management have gone the WORST, didn’t expected this from Barker hotel, don’t recommend at all to anyone; tasteless food plus very rude staff, which makes even worst for the customer as someone coming to restaurant to have a good time not to spoil the mood after receiving disgusting service..!

Had my daughters 18th birthday at the hotel. Absolutely wonderful. Thankyou to the staff who made our day a wonderful day of celebration. The staff were friendly professional helpful. The food was lovely the service was amazing. Thankyou to all for a lovely day. Definitely will be back

Chosen for a social lunch while visiting friends in the hills, the Barker certainly didn't disappoint! We parked effortlessly very close to the entrance and were invited to choose where we would like to sit! There was a large dining room with a small, quiet dining area adjacent - which suited our needs. A great variety of reasonsonably priced food and wine was available. We chose the roast of the day and a crumbed fish, both of which were delicious and well presented! Staff were attentative and polite. The Barker was clean, welcoming and well managed and I would recommend a visit! 👍

Very disappointing tonight, we had an outside table, thats fine but once we arrived the outdoor heaters were not on turned out only 1 worked, so it wasnt very warm, come on u guys you can do better than that, also never any tomato in the salad ....

This is one of our favourite places. If you are looking for amazing food, atmosphere and amazing customer service. I highly recommend this place. Our mums group came here regularly with prams and all and they were so accommodating for us.

Just had a wonderful lunch with close family, possibly the best hotel meals I’ve had ever. Steaks, lamb roast, chicken parmigiana, Blue Grenadier, all delicious. Compliments to the kitchen crew.

Great pub for drinks, food and atmosphere. Staff are friendly and a good selection of beers on tap. Chicken shnitty was a good portion, with an excellent crumb.

Great food. The roast and the squid easily the best have ever had any where. Highly recommend and service was good. Friendly staff and will be back.
