The
arepa
beef
(gf
$18)
which
I
had
for
breakfast
on
Saturday
the
25th
of
November,
2023,
I
hope
to
remember
this
meal
forever.
On
arrival
at
my
table,
it
was
perfect.
A
layer,
a
stack
of
one
arepa,
pulled
beef,
avo,
then
sour
cream;
I
added
two
poached
eggs.
The
eggs
were
perfect.
Just...
my
goodness.
The
meal
in
total
was
more
than
I
expected,
and
the
awe
and
wow
were
genuine
from
my
mouth.
Beauty
from
eye
to
fork
to
belly.
The
beef
was
tasty
as,
mate,
tasty.
The
service
is
calm,
confident,
industrious.
Andrés,
you
rock,
man
-
no,
you're
the
boss.
Chef...
hats
off,
totally.
||
A
funny
little
vignette.
Four
French
folk
were
seated
near
me.
I
know
a
little
français
and
I
enjoy
listening
to
that
language
because
its
pretty,
and
I
like
trying
to
guess
what
they
are
saying.
Not
prying
or
doxxing
lol
just
some
eavesdropping.lite.
The
curious
thing
for
me
and
no
judgement
is
that
amongst
all
those
lovely
South
American
fusion
foods
(the
menu
is
ample
yet
not
overwhelming,
at
great
quality
and
value
tbh
btw),
they
had
brung
in
plain
croissants.
Not
the
brung
in
part
but
just
eating
their
normal,
everyday
breakfast.
Well,
a
little
bit
of
the
brung
in
part
lol.
Gotta
laugh.
Hey,
Ive
been
there:
I've
eaten
Maccas
in
Paris
while
surrounded
by
1000s
of
better
options.
Like
I
say,
no
judgement.
Just
funny.
One
thing
I
will
say,
when
I
get
home,
Im
gonna
learn
how
to
make
arepa
(savoury
grilled
pancake).
I
can
make
mini
tortillas
(lard,
flour,
hot
water)
in
a
steel
pan.
Because
arepa
are
good,
so
good.

One
thing
I
will
say
(other
than
well
done
on
reading
this
far!)
is
Cumbia
for
me
is
the
reward
of
researching
using
Google
before
you
arrive.
Now,
chance
is
fine
too
(last
night
I
ambled
past
then
into
a
quirky
but
awesome
Chinese
bbq
place)
but
a
modicum
of
researching
and
adding
"breakfast,
lunch,
dinner"
locations
to
your
itinerary
is
something
I've
only
done
in
the
last
few
years
and
it
pays.
In
the
case
of
Cumbia,
it
pays
will
joy,
beauty,
value,
deliciousness
and
friendliness.
