This museum was a nice experience. Very focused on the early years of the Ford motor Co and the early models of production. It is not the assembly line factory so if that is your expectation, you will be disappointed. But tons of information about the pre 1910 years of their production. It was an excellent experience and the guides are very knowledgeable. Dozens of early cars including many of the competitors in Fords early days. Also a lot of vehicles demonstrating the versatility of the Model T and its conversion into trucks, tractors, utility vehicles, etc. The tour was great but try to give yourself a little extra time to explore and read some of the things the tour does not cover

If you are ever in the Detroit area and are a history buff or car enthusiast, you have to check this place out. This is Ford Motor Company’s first assembly plant. The Model T was conceived here and initially launched at this location before moving production to another plant due to demand for the Model T. This place was saved from the wrecking ball by a group of individuals that saw the value in keeping a place like this around for others to see and experience. It really is amazing and the volunteers that work there really add to the enjoyment with the history information they provide. Very enjoyable experience.

Jerry was an awesome guide and had some great info to share even on one of the last tours of the day. This place has some incredible automotive history, not limited to Ford cars alone. They've even got an example of one of the first EV's, built in 1918! It was a proper luxury car too. Fun walking on the original production floor and seeing the original design studio for the Model T. A must-see for automotive history.

Learned a lot! Great video presentation, tour of Henry Ford's office, and a loosely guided tour of the factory with tons of fantastic old Ford's. I believe they had at least one of all the original models built here. My nephew liked these a lot. I learned a lot about basic engines, and the history of Ford - the museum genuinely sparked my interest for learning more.

Just wow. This place is beautiful. We had our wedding here on March 7, 2020 and even though I planned every part of it, I could never have imagined how stunning the venue would look. It was *exactly* what I wanted. The history, the beautiful character of the building, the lights, the mood...all amazing. We worker with Jeff leading up to and on the day, I can't say enough good things about Jeff. He worked hard for us, answered my many questions, was responsive and there when I needed him. Jeff's personality worked well with mine, as he's much more calm than I am. It was easy to work with him and feel like it was all going to work out. I honestly cannot imagine my wedding anywhere else and if I ever had to plan one again (God please no), I would want it to be at the Piquette Plant with Jeff. Our guests LOVED the Piquette Plant, we heard several times that it was the most unique, beautiful venue they had ever visited. We ended up loving this place so much we visited many more times than necessary before the wedding just to take it all in. You will absolutely not regret having your wedding (or any event) here, it will be more beautiful than you can ever imagine.

Amazing place to learn about Ford Motors’ early days. I love how the museum kept an industrial vibe in its interior, and many buildings in the neighbourhood, including the one right next to the factory/museum, are yet to be restored/redeveloped, which might appear a bit rundown but also really gives you a sense of deindustrialization and can make for some great architecture photography. The museum is not big – two floors in all, and one can go through the exhibits in less than an hour, but if you’re a car enthusiast then I would recommend at least 1.5 hours to properly see and learn about the automobiles. There is only one car that you could get on – the others are off-limits, but you could still get very close to them. The highlight was the so-called secret experiment room, which is situated behind heavy doors and where Ford and a small group of people brainstormed, experimented, and figured out what eventually become the Model T. The museum has a small gift shop right beside the admissions office, which is well worth stopping by! It has a lot of cool items – not just your typical touristy knickknacks.

I had a company event here and it was great. A window to the past, highlighting the rich history of automobile manufacturing in Detroit. You walk in the footsteps of the original factory workers on the museum's old wooden floors where rows of historic Ford automobiles line the causeway. Highly recommended!

Great tour and experience! This was Ford's first plant where the Model T was designed and produced. Clearly a community effort to keep the space going and you can really see the care volunteers have put into saving the space. Many, many rare cars on display that were made in the building on display. The tour had something for everyone and I could tell our guide knew a ton about these cars. I went on a very cold day in winter and the building was not totally heated; not a problem for me and very understandable, but if you're sensitive to the cold you may want to visit on a warmer day. They are renovating the ground floor and I am sure the experience will keep getting better and better. Personally I would love to see more recreations of the production processes, machinery, etc. It would be great to make the museum more of a representation of the buildings original use. Right now it is really more like a (really cool) car show with some exhibits.

It was smaller than I had hoped, but had a great selection of the oldest Fords, plus some other antique cars and history. I enjoyed the peek into Henry Fords actual office. That made it very real. I would recommend this as a stop after the Henry Ford Museum of Innovation, which was top-notch. They are only about 15 minutes apart, very do-able. I'd give about 3-4 hours for the Henry Ford and an hour for the Piquette Avenue. Really shouldn't miss it. If you didn't notice, this facility is actually a US National Park, so bring your pass if you have one.

Jerry was a great tour guide! This is my favorite place to go on Detroit! All of the old Ford models (and others!!) are amazing. Unless you know everything about the history of cars, you will absolutely learn a few things from your tour. Couldn't remmomd enough!

We were there for wedding and reception in very late November. The best venue I have ever attended for this type of event. History, character, space, ambiance...really has it all. Cold day, It was in the 20's outside and snowing...a bit chilly inside for some folks but we didn't mind. Highly recommend if you are looking for something special Detroit!

A beautiful place to have a wedding. Loved seeing all the old cars and the history that makes you proud to be a Detroiter. You can travel back in time and get your picture taken in a model T. There are three floors of old cars to enjoy, a museum and a gift shop. I loved hearing the stories from the gentleman that gave the tours. He has probably told them a thousand times but he told them with such enthusiasm that it felt like he was telling you for the first time. The parking lot is safe and monitored by many security. It was a magical night and I didn't want to leave.

This has been my favorite place that I’ve been to in Detroit. I am a Ford employee, so I could not wait to see the plant (you don’t need to be an employee to enjoy). I recommend doing a guided tour. Jerry was my tour guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the Piquette Avenue plant, the history of Ford, Edison, Huff, and the vehicles themselves. I was shocked to see how much of the plant is still original, and felt like I was taken back in time and could see Henry Ford challenging his employees to a foot race across the plant. We were also told about the many upcoming additions, and I can not wait to come back to see what changes. Ps. The $12 entrance fee in unbeatable and shocking in a good way(there also are deals on Groupon to make it even more inexpensive)

What a fantastic day-trip we had visiting the Ford Piquette Ave. Plant. So happy we got tickets to the tour as it was so informative! Tom was our guide and he obviously knew this place inside & out, and I can't recommend this tour enough. Such a historic place in our rich automotive history and it should be on everyone's list of places to see when in the area.

Jeffrey, at the Ford Piquette Plant, was very flexible + willing to work with my husband + I planning our wedding. Covid forced us to change the date + Jeffrey made the process very easy. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. Half of our wedding party came from out of state and they really loved the history + vintage cars the Piquette Plant provides.

A very important detroit treasure. We all learned in school about the origins of mass production, and here is the actual building in which it was born. You feel the history when you pull into the parking lot. It is a place to enjoy on a rainy day in Detroit.

The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is both a historical site and a museum. Dating back to 1904, it's where the Ford Model T was created and produced, among other things. In current times, there are 65 or so classic cars (mostly Ford) on display. I took the guided tour, which lasted about two hours, because I wanted to hear the history of the plant and the cars inside. You can also opt for the self guided tour if you prefer to move through at a faster pace. Overall, it was an interesting tour and was worth the visit.

This was a really fun visit. Staff were very friendly, the tour guide was engaging and had some good humor. One issue was air conditioning, as it is an old building, on a hot day you can break a sweat, we spent 1.5 hours there and could have spent an another hour if our kids allowed it. Interestingly, our kids werent as engaged, but me and my wife very much enjoyed it.

The tour guide, Tom, led one of the best tours I have ever received. He had so much to say about each of the cars he showed the group and memorized so much of the information about the vehicles. It was clear that he was very passionate about his job and loved working there. The tour guide may have been great, but that doesn’t mean that the cars don’t deserve any recognition. The selection of cars at the plant were fantastic. There wasn’t just one of every car ever manufactured in the plant, but there were also cars made by Ford competitors like Oldsmobile at the same time! All in all, the tour was great and incredibly informative.

If you speak English, talking to him tells you the history of the T model and the color relationship with the year it came out. Oh the amazing bathrooms very carefully everything and in detail it seems that you are in that era. (Original) Muy buen lugar limpio agradable y el personal extraordinario . From outside this looks some ordinary museum but inside its a different experience all together. Many models showcasing history of fore cars and the highlighted one is model T. After visiting the magnificent Ford museum of American innovation the day before, we drove here on purpose next day to see where it all began in automotive industry. I was greatly disappointed finding the space closed. As I learnt there they're only open for few hours and only Thu-Sun, very strange. Double check if open before going in order not to waste your time.

  • 5/5 Jeremy S. 1 year ago on Google
Being someone that enjoys American automotive history, the tour of the Piquette Avenue Plant was better than I could have expected. The tour's docent kept the group enthralled for the two hour tour with his vast knowledge of automotive history as well as his complete knowledge of the building itself. Our attention was kept peaked not only by the dozens of 100+ year old cars, but important rooms in the facility were also brought back to period correctness. The engineering/top secret room was most impressive with it’s overhead, belt driven machinery and drafting table, not to mention Henry Ford's personal office decorated with his actual belongings including his telescope, camera and telephone. So if you find yourself in Detroit with a couple hours on your hands, go grab ahold of some of the Motor City's oldest & richest history, you'll be glad you read this revue, cheers!

One of the underrated gems of Detroit. This museum is the coolest car museum I’ve ever been to! So much history and had a great time looking at car models. Guided tour was great! Was worth crossing the border to visit!

Great little place. We did the free tour and it was fun to learn some extra facts, but honestly it was super long. There was a ton of people though, so maybe that added to it. We left halfway through and just did our own thing and went through at our pace. It was great though. So if you like the extra info do the tour, if you want to go through quick, then don't do the tour.

  • 5/5 Ernest R. 1 year ago on Google
I grew up a few miles from the museum and NEVER knew it existed. The car collection was exquisite and priceless. The fact that Henry Ford himself designed the Model T at that plant made the visit even more special. The staff and tour guides were all friendly and knowledgeable. Will return for a visit in the near future.

It was an incredible experience!! The time you spend is between 1:30 or 2:00 hrs there. The man who explains is an expert and really knows everything about the henry ford company and what he did. He explains in such a good way, I am not particularly interested in cars but I learned so much and everything he said caught my attention. For me the service they provide is very good. The price to enter is very reasonable and they are very friendly. I highly recommend going to this place and I will definitely return with my father and grandfather who I am sure will love it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this National Historic site of Henry Ford, the people, the cars, the suppliers, the investors, the pioneers, the way they lived, what it meant to the country on wheels. We got to ride in a Model A and view so many actual cars. There were 2 movies and a lunch wagon. We got in for free as a special announced tour, from our neighbor. Usually costs $10. Highly recommend.

Nice place to appreciate the history of Henry Ford and the Model T. Our tour guide was fabulous. Staff was very friendly .
