Nice museum with a fish hatchery next to the park and museum. Free to enter taking donations. A lot of interactive activities as well for kids and adults if interested. Highly recommended.

Great place to learn about volcanic activity and the topography of the area. A lot of fun activities for kids from old Ford fire truck that you can climb to a volcanic cave kids can get into with headlights. The place is right next to the trouts fish feeding area (come early in the day so you can feed the trouts). It's all free with recommended donations.

Went to see the fish hatchery which we loved watching the fish try to jump the fence. The museum was very interesting. Facts about the history of the area. A lot of information on the volcanoes. The types of rock. The native American history. And a lot of artifacts. They don't have an entry fee but do encourage a donation.

I was blown away by this "little" museum. From the front, it looks so small. It was free and we had so many fun things to actually touch. My adult daughters were so happy to use the old typewriter and other gadgets. It had lots of kids items that would be perfect for an hour or two of entertainment. The attendants are very informative and helpful. The gift shop was cute too.

Great representation of Mt. Shasta. This museum is great adults and kids. Lots of exhibits that kids can climb on or play with. There is several rooms with well marked artifacts and photos. This is a fun place to visit after going to the headwaters of the Sacramento River.

Our family loves this place. The museum is one of the best indoor kid activities we have found in the area so far--there's a playroom with lots of toys, an old firetruck to climb on, a recreated ninteeth century resort cabin with dress up items, a train engineer's console, and soon a lava tube to crawl through. I love the area history and the local information, and I love keeping the kids busy. Plus, feeding the fish is a very unique experience.

This place is an awesome family space. Exhibits for adults to read and learn about the area past and present and activities for kids to interact with; such as a kids room with toys, a cave, a fire engine which they can also dress up and have a back drop for a photo shoot. The fish hatchery is here too. Definitely a gem to stop at and take a break on a long drive! Just FYI the child isn't fishing the net is a butterfly net that he had just purchased

This is a beautiful spot. The museum always has wonderful exhibits set up and there is a small gift shop. The fish Hatchery is the oldest operating Hatchery west of the Mississippi. The museum has only been around since the early 80's. I don't know if you can still feed the fish but they use to have gum machines filled with fish food that you bought and then fed the fish it was pretty neat.

Loved this place! Free entry, cool little place to visit with some fun things to mess around with, loved the 150 year old piano in the back room.

My husband and I had a great time visiting the museum. So much fun looking at everything. We especially loved the fire truck. My husband was amazed at how well it was built and it's still in amazing shape. The second part of the fun was walking outside to feed the fish. I would highly recommend doing both when you visit. The gentleman at the door who greeted everyone was very friendly and welcoming to all who entered.

Minus 1⭐️ for not being dog friendly. I was going to carry my 11-pound travel companion LuLu but we were turned away. My sister and daughter went in while I waited outside. Soon my sister came out to sit with Lulu and I went in to enjoy this lovely historic museum.

I was very impressed with this local museum. They had a lot of displays and interactive activities for kids of all ages. My preschooler especially loved the volcano you could climb into, the volcanic rocks, and the different playsets. We could have spent the whole day there.

Was not open when I stopped. However it is next to one of the greatest fish hatcheries in California. A great place to take kids and show them rainbow trout that will eventually end up in local lakes and streams.

Had a doctor appointment in Mount Shasta my wife and I took my son and his friend to fish hatchery to check out the fish. They got to see them being fed as the feed truck drove by. Lots of fun and pretty cool to see, especially when the osprey swoop down and grab a fish.

The museum is small, but packed with a lot of information about the history of Mt Shasta, the Fish Hatchery, and the various tribes that called the area home. Donation based admission; guest book in the front, small gift shop - Museum is run by volunteers. Pictures are of the Fish Hatchery behind the museum - you can see how they start as tadpoles and then progressively grow bigger. The fountain on the side looks like an old water pump.

Incredible local history, friendly staff, and super kid friendly. I have two young girls, one who is autistic so I was a little nervous. Both thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Super fun place! Lots of well curated exhibits and full of knowledge! The basket weaving information is really shockingly interesting! The difference in types of baskets and uses is a rabbit hole worth going town

My 8 year old twins would have stayed a half day. They had so so much fun in the museum and hatchery next door. We brought a picnic which helped the adults.

A great local museum. Features interesting exhibits about local native Americans, early settlers and railroad history. It has informative natural history exhibits about nearby Mt Shasta. There's a nice model railroad setup. Great for kids: there are various interactive exhibits. Apparently a labor of love by numerous local volunteers. Should visit if you are in the Mt Shasta area.

This is a great museum. My partner and I both enjoyed the exhibits about area families who migrated here and helped create the town and prominent hotels and businesses in their day. Also very relevant exhibits and short videos about climate change related to the area. The outdoor picnic area and short hike on the grounds are both charming.

This museum is truly a hidden gem. It's off the beaten path and pretty small, but it was amazing. The museum is free, but donations are welcome. Adults can learn a lot about the history of the area, through exhibits and displays. And, each section of the museum has fund and educational activities for children of all ages, STEAM and history. And, along with the museum, you can visit the oldest trout hatchery west of the Mississippi just outside the museum.

Oh I just adored this little museum. I stopped in while staying in Mount Shasta, and was not disappointed! Great displays on the history of indigenous peoples from the area, early settlers, the railroad, and Mount Shasta/volcanoes. Definitely worth stopping by.

Visiting this museum is a wonderful way to learn about the history of the area. There are displays that change periodically, so there's always something new to see. It's very educational, but never boring, and has something for every age group, even small children.

This place is great. So much for the kids to explore and learn. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful.

VERY informative, with a lot of rooms to roam. There were some interactive things for kids to do, and quite the variety of photos, artifacts, and history. My favorite part had to be the murals throughout the whole museum.
