Great destination to relax and enjoy with family and friends. Beach is small, not clea enough to enjoy in the water. But the park is huge, it’s great to just rest on the sand, grass, cookout, and play beach games. Small trails are also there, and it’s all easy trails. Cons: Car parking is a headache during weekends and when the weather is good. Very less parking lots, many cars parked in the “cars with trailers” zone because of poor parking facilities. There were more lots available but road was closed. Such poor management, they should open those roads and allow public to park their vehicles. #Seattle #Beach

What a beautiful place. I was in heaven. The vibe is fantastic. Lots of families and friends just having a good time and my favorite lots of dogs. There’s a good bit of parking as well as lots of paths and bathrooms as well as a little cafe/bistro nearby. Next time I will is k a picnic and stay all day.

Get here early Fantastic location. Well maintained. The sunsets are consistent incredible. On peak periods parking is challenged yet there is turnover if you wait patiently in the parking lot. Can get your own private space during the busiest of times. Lots of folk walk and bike the path. Has a fresh water pond usually with ducks. Kids play area, beach, boat launching area, tables, private party areas etc… I am ready to do my first post sunset bonfire.

05/28/23: this park is spacious with many parking lots. There are tons of playgrounds, picnic areas, and some small trails in this beautiful park. The beach is outstanding overlooking the Puget Sound Area. Love coming here to relax and enjoy some great views

Excellent beach I didn’t expect such a calm and clean beach in Seattle. Well maintained park, lot of crowed but still you get your private space, such a huge park. You have Kids play area, beach, boat launching area, tables, private party areas etc.. plenty of free parking spots but chances those fill fast so it is better to act early.

Absolutely beautiful and tranquil spot to watch the sunset! Really loved the local vibe and how dog-friendly it is here. I especially enjoyed watching (and hearing!) the seals swim by so close to the shore. My only regret was not thinking ahead enough to bring a picnic. Next time!

Went on a Friday. Great weather which meant it was busy, but not terribly. Parking was harder to find as nearer to the beach, spots are very narrow and many don’t park well, so spots were wasted. Closer to marina we found more parking. Some is marked for boats and trailers only, but none were ever there, so most of those spots were full of cars. Sand is soft and nice, but a bit more rocky as you get to water. There is a creek feeding into the water which many kids were playing in. We only ventured around the southern end of the sand abutting the rocks and marina. Was fun to check the rocks for creatures. Would come back here if in the area. It’s out of the way which is good and bad (good in that it’s not easily accessible if you don’t have a car, but bad when trying to leave in afternoon because of traffic as you’re in the heart of northern Seattle.)

Sunsets are beautiful at this beach along with a silhouette view of the Olympic mountains. There is a restroom available here along with barbecue pits and volleyball nets. The beach is quite long so definitely there is enough space even on a weekend. Parking can be tricky on a busy weekend. Late evenings can be quite chilly and windy here so better to carry a jacket in case you plan to spend late evenings here. Also pets are allowed here.

Sunset view from this beach is just stunning. Although it was very crowded as we visited the place during early summer weekend. A perfect place for a picnic within 40 mins drive from downtown Seattle. We were lucky as we were able see 5/6 Seals in the water from not more 300 ft distance.

Very pretty area. Loved the park and layout of the park. Lots of activities for young and old. The hike down from Ballard is a bit intense but so worth it. Go take a look around the beach and enjoy this beautiful area.

Love the view, great place for paddle board, kayak, swim and bbq! There is a great beach here and lot of people are playing and enjoying the sunshine. Parking here is not that easy, you can always park a little bit up there and walk down for several minutes.

A nice place to relax with friends and family. Parking was hard to find because the weather was amazing and everyone wanted to have a feel of it. I met a friend there to catch up during COVID. A good option because it is in the open and provided opportunities to social distance.

You absolutely can't beat the views from Alki. Absolutely beautiful walk. Fun place to people watch as well. Lots of cool restaurants to eat at as well. From burgers to pizza, seafood and Mexican. Love it down here. If you are visiting Seattle this is a must visit. Iconic views.

One of the very few Seattle park with a large sandy beach area. It is not white sand or anything close but it still gives you a beach feel. Very nice kids play area.

Great place to watch the boats, eat some ice cream, purchase a hot cup of joe, and take a nice stroll with the family. Has a wonderful playground for the kiddos and some beach volleyball net poles for the more mature. Highly recommend a visit if you are new to the area or just visiting for a bit.

One of my favorite place to go especially for a walk. They have a sandy beach at the right end of the park. They also have a dog park just 2 minutes away from the beach area 👌🏼 Perfect for jogging or walking and sunset seeing 😍

Nice hidden gem. Sandy Beach, nice dock and pathways. Homeless camp up the hill made us nervous. Parking lot where we parked doesn't drain well after a down pour of rain. We waded through 2 to 3 inches of water to get into the car.

Great park with a huge beach with several fire pits for night time bon fires 🔥 There is also a pretty decent snack bar / cafe see my separate review of that for details. There is a decent amount of parking but on those hot summer days if you don't arrive say you may have to trek up to the overflow parking a block or 2 up the hill...

It's the best beach Seattle can offer. Decent for hanging out on a warm day and doing outdoorsy stuff like Beach volleyball. Nice views of the Olympic national park, especially around sunset. A lot of people go sailing in the Elliott bay and it looks kinda cool from the beach. The water never gets warm even during peak summer so swimming is not that common.

Been here many times and it's always packed in the summer with parking full. Lots of trails, Dog park, nice beach, lots of picnics, BBQs, boaters. This time I went to meet a couple friends to cold plunge in the Sound. Water was about 45° and fabulous. Please don't go in the water unless you know how to handle cold water. My friends and I do this multiple times a week, and been cold plunging almost a year.

Awesome park for all outdoor activities on or off the water. Barbecuing is allowed and you will see designated areas. From what I’ve seen fires are allowed but don’t quote me on that! We have brought our dogs and our kid several times and it’s always fun! Lots of different areas to find your spot from on the beach I’m the sand, on the driftwood, or on the grass. Bring a cooler some food and spend the day enjoying the beautiful outdoors!

How do you rate a beach...it was sandy and watery! This beach stretches on for ages, there is a beautiful waterfront walkway that is perfect for walking and riding. The parking along the water is hard to come by in the good weather times but easy during slow (you know...how it works) It's pretty clean for the most part, but like everywhere in Seattle, you have the possibility of finding used needles, condoms, human feces, garbage, all the fun of living in a place that has humans It has a lovely stretch of restaurants and shops as well, also a community building and public toilet...and a tiny statue of liberty

  • 5/5 Natalie L. 3 years ago on Google
I always enjoy the mini-California feel I get from Alki Beach and the shops that line the street. Individuals, couple, and families alike can enjoy renting out bicycles for individual riding or peddle carts for 4 from a shop across the way from the beach. Or you can get a fresh fruit smoothie, espresso, a cold pint of local beer, baked goods, or dine at a casual or nicer restaurant in the various establishments that run up and down the way. The beach itself offers a sandy expanse to either lay out on a towel or blanket to sunbathe, set up nets for beach volleyball, or head towards the bath house end where there are grassy section with some pavilions to rent for picnic events as well as picnic tables open to all on the grass areas.

It's clean, there's always beach volleyball going on during the day and little fires at night. Everyone's usually wearing a mask and very respectful to one another.

Our favorite spot to visit all summer..Alki Beach!! We ate lunch, took walks in the water, and a nap on the sand and watched ferry boats pass back and forth. We stayed on the beach until 11pm. We had firewood but it was perfectly warm that we didn't need a fire. Me and my daughter really talked. We didn't do chores or watch TV or play video games. I did take a few pics of a perfect day in Seattle to be worry free and loving life.

  • 4/5 Greg M. 3 years ago on Google
Cool vibe. Instant time travel.. Rollerblading exists again and it feels like you are in California only its probably a lot colder. Can have fires till 11pm (think its closed at 8 and can't because of covid anymore.) Wide sidewalk to skate or walk babies down.. Sand for the fires, for chilling, or beach sports. Lots of restaurants overlooking the water. Down the street by the ferry, a great place to view the skyline. Lots of babes/skin on hot days. Winter kinda slow. Polar plunge on new years morning, recommend doing anytime in the winter. Its a shock at first but the air is warm when you get out. Its really refreshing. Worth checking out. If you're not going to have a fire, jump in the water, or go there when its warm.. don't travel too far is how I feel

  • 4/5 Irene R. 3 years ago on Google
I honestly wouldn’t get in that water. It looked too dark and full with algae it’s really hard to find parking so what we did is park far and walked a lot but the view is really beautiful. We saw beautiful houses full of color and there are 2-4 wheel bikes and carts rentals, you can ride them and enjoy the views. Restaurants, bars with live music. You can sit and enjoy a beer while enjoying the beach view and that sky will have you mesmerized.

Spectacular park on the Puget Sound in Ballard just north of the Shilshole Marina and Chittendon locks. Has a great dog park uphill and l across the tracks. Several really steep staircases up to the top of the bluff will take you to a nice coffee shop...Cafe Fiore.

Excellent views and off leash dog park. Dog park has a mini obstacle course and lots of running room for your pup. Pair it with some of the great food from the Crown Hill/Ballard area and you have yourself a pretty good afternoon.

  • 5/5 Scottie C. 3 years ago on Google
Awesome place to let your dog OFF their leash to run freely, with lots of other dogs throughout a very large fenced in area. But, don't miss the even larger area of open trails, which intersect with the creek in a few different locations. One of the best of its kind in Snohomish County.

Beautiful waterfront park at the end of Burke-Gilman trail and makes a great finish for a nice tempo run. The park is long and narrow, with a playground and restrooms in the center, a walking path traces the shoreline to the wetlands at the north side. I just wish there were better ways to get up the hill to 32nd Ave. The road aren't safe for walking so pedestrians have to take the dirt trails up. Also it's hard to access the park by bus. The only line that services the park on a regular basis goes east-west, so you have to walk to 24th Ave if you come from or go to Ballard.

I love coming to Golden Gardens for a picnic breakfast or lunch. It gets pretty crazy in the summer, especially on hot nights, so I generally avoid it then. Nice walking paths through the park and an off-leash dog park area just up the hill.

Calm, clean beach park with amazing views of the Olympic National Park. Has a large sandy beach for sunbathing and beach volleyball on warm days. On windy days it’s excellent for kitesurfing, and on calm days - great for paddle-boarding. Beach has a small snack shop and the restrooms in the bathhouse. Parking is across the rail tracks (there’s an underpass pedestrian connection).

Gorgeous and chill. They have firepits, an incredible view of the Sound, and soft sand beaches. They also had volleyball courts, easy parking, and accessible bathrooms. A seriously perfect beach to take in the sunset.

This is a very large waterfront park. I didn't have a chance to explore much of it since I arrived just before sunset. During my short visit I did observe lots of families picnicking and grilling out. The beach was full of families, couples, and individuals enjoying the beautiful weather and preparing to watch the sunset. The park does close at 10pm and is enforced! I would definitely consider check this park out if you're in the area.

With fire pits, the beach, a playground a great view, this parks offers entertainment for all ages. Plenty of parking, lots of slave to walk or ride a bike. Sunsets are amazing here as well, with good weather, of course.

We always love this park. There is a stretch of beach as well which is accessible (that’s the best part). On a sunny summer you can enjoy being in the water, enjoy picnic with friends and family. They also have assigned fire pits to enjoy the warmth of fire once it starts getting cold 😊 You can also swim or kayak or use SUP board in the water as there are no crashing waves in this beach. You can bring your floatie and enjoy 😉 People also play volleyball here and you can have a pretty good walk in the park too while enjoying the beautiful sunset 🌅

Such a great neighborhood beach. It is very accessible, relatively clean, and not too crowded in the afternoon. Such a great spot to bring some chairs and read under the sun. I’ve observed that parking lot starts to get competitive a little before 4PM.

  • 5/5 Nancy R. 1 year ago on Google
We went at sunset right before the park closed. If you want the real Seattle experience this is a must. From 0 to 100 residents come to the beach for the day and stay to watch the sun set. If you're not into talking to stranger this will be a weird experience for you, but if you love dogs it's great. Just don't forget to ask permission from the dogs before you greet them.

Wear waterproof shoes to walk on rocks and seaweed. Went during low tide. Awesome for the kids to look for sea creatures. Found crabs, fish and hermit crabs. Came in summer on a weekday and there was plenty of parking.

One of my favourite places to visit while in Seattle. A nice beach with loads of parking. I mean look at this view! Take a stroll to see all the watercraft in the Puget Sound, seals, and other wildlife. Once when we came there were cute little turtles swimming in a stream -marsh.

One of the most beautiful spots in Seattle. Summer or winter a great place to walk the beach. Swimming, volleyball, fire pits. Great place to paddle board or kayak. Beautiful views of the Olympic mountains on a clear day. Lots of seals and sea lions. Loads of water birds. Love this place

The beach is huge, with lots of space even when the parking is full. We saw families swimming, picnickers, couples, windsurfers, campers on a field trip, dogs, beachcombers, and more. The food stand was open, even though it looked closed. When we go back, though, we'll bring sandals or beach shoes. All that gorgeous sand gets hot. But the beach is roomy, pretty, easy to access and well appointed--worth the trip!

Went with a friend in the morning. The park is so pretty during this time of the year with lots of trees in different shades of green and flowers in full bloom. You also get a great view of the Olympic mountains when the sky is clear. It can get crowded here on the weekends especially on sunny days but the scenery is worth it. We saw some turtles too!

The water, the mountains, the trail along the beach to the wetlands, this place is great for a relaxing walk on weekday mornings when it's not so crowded. On the weekends, especially when the weather is wonderful, it gets really crowded really quickly, so plan accordingly. It's a great place for group events, with grills, fire pits, space for games, and more. Just make sure you look into reserving spots if it's necessary.

Pretty and clean beach near ballard. A great spot to hang out with friends and family over the weekend and grill play and chit chat. Beautiful views of the olympic National park on a clear day. Enough parking spots available too!

Golden Gardens is a great place to spend time. The place is neat and clean and gives a great view of the sunshine sparkling over the beach. There are benches not very far from the beach. Barbeque grills are provided which makes it a great place for a picnic.

Actual beach sand instead of rocky shoreline. Plenty of space. Volleyball courts, trails through the wetlands. This is a little gem. Ample parking. This may be one of my favorite beaches

This beach is our weekly swimming spot. We swim north or south depending on tide. We sometimes saw wildlife there. The current is usually stronger around Meadow Point, where it is north from the bathhouse. Also, we often see skinny dipping people in the mornings. 🫣 today, 6/21/23, about 15 people! 😅 Looks like they meet up there around 7am ish. 🤣
