Went hiking at Thompson Park and took the Reservoir Loop which is 4.8 miles. Hiking through the woods was magical in a way and hard to believe I was still in NJ. The beautiful views of the Swimming River Reservoir and Marlu Lake were so breathtaking. I even met some dogs while hiking in the woods. I also took a walk to see some of the areas of the park. There are wide paved paths for running or walking your dog. There's an off-leash fenced in dog area. There are plenty of well-kept fields for different activities, a playground, creative arts center and you can go fishing and rent a canoe or kayak. The Visitor Center and landscape are incredibly beautiful. The Visitor Center was a mansion that belonged to the Thompson Family which was originally built in 1896. Due to a fire in 2006 that destroyed the family residence, it was rebuilt to retain its original beautiful structure and reopened in 2009 as an information center. Fun Fact: The Thompson estate was originally named Brookdale Farm and part of the estate became Brookdale Community College.

Large beautiful park with lots of trails. Great for taking a leisurely bike ride or enjoying the park with your dog. We had a dog pack walk there today. Lots of parking available. Several bathrooms. Also, there are lots of paved trails making this park area very accessible for those who move differently. There are several call boxes distributed around the park, in case of emergency.

Gorgeous park with several asphalt paths. You can run, bike, skate, hike, picnic and more. We hike the beautiful reservoir loop which is now marked well. A walking stick is helpful in some sections. My five year old did the whole loop.

I go to this park to ride a closed circuit. The trail is in good shape with only a few spots that will jolt you if you don’t watch for them. A complete circuit is about 3.5 miles. People do walk the trail, but it is not very crowded.

Whether it's walking the dog, out for a long run or a leisurely bike ride, Thompson Park is a perfect place for a day away. I am fortunate to live 2 miles or so away and go there often. Great for families or anyone who likes being outdoors. The bike trail is about 4 1/2 miles around with plenty of open areas to throw a frisbee or catch a baseball. Also a small lake and canoe rentals at times. You can launch a kayak if you have one but again it is not large lake.

Thompson Park is a wonderful place for a walk, run, hike or even just to sit and enjoy a sunny fall day.

Huge park with plenty of amenities, including a DIY bike repair station. Beautiful scenery and paved trails if you're not looking for a forest walk or worried about ticks.

Clean park featuring a dog park, paved trails, a pound, playground, and other activities. The resivor trail is currently my favorite. The monmouth county park system also offers a variety of classes and I do take pottery here as well.

Great park in Monmouth County. Something for everyone in your family. Hiking, biking, boating, walking, tennis, pickle ball, kids play ground. Fall time foliage is beautiful

Nice park with a 4+ mile paved track to walk or bike. Blue trail loop to hike around the reservoir and a lake for canoeing. You can rent the canoes by the lake. The park also hosts numerous festivals during summers.

Lovely park for casual walking and dog lovers. The dog park community was welcoming and the park was well maintained. They have seasonal events, open fields, a playground, off leash dog park, wooded hiking and fields of wild grass. The varied foliage made for perfect fall photos. We even made a friend! 🐸

Great park with a 4.25 mile paved loop. Minimal elevation with pretty views that make you forget you’re only a few miles away from the parkway. A little buggy with all of the tall grassy areas and ponds. There are several trails in addition that I didn’t explore, but looked more like trail runs - I’m guessing nothing with much elevation, but still pretty.

We went to Thompson Park Day, and again recently to snowshoe... both times we were impressed by the facilities! They have all sorts of activities which you would never expect in Monmouth County. We brought our own snowshoes but noted that they had cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals. The staff were still so kind to greet us warmly and let us know where we were allowed to venture to with our gear. Our son was so happy to waddle in the snow and see all the beautiful nature. Excellent park, we will be back!

This park is really nice. The trails are easy and flat so you can have a nice walk, or the kids can ride bikes, scooters or roller skates and no worry about big hills. The playground is pretty new and clean.

Great park with so many activities to do indoors and out! The off leash dog area is well maintained, the playground is great for older and younger kids. There are indoor restrooms and vending machines at the Visitor Center and creative art center as well as porta potty's throughout the park. Trails are both paved and unpaved, relatively flat terrain awesome for roller skates/blades. Bring a blanket and picnic on the lawn or find one of the areas with tables and grills for a beautiful lunch!

I went for a small hike with my partners and we have a wonderful time. Quiet, peaceful, clean and serene. I had a lovely hike around the lake. Will absolutely be back!

Great park for a weekend stroll with a dog and a kid on a bike.. the park maintenance could just put a few extra garbage bins on the trails

We have only been there for the dog park and it's a very nice facility! Two spaces for dogs to run free(big and small dog areas) with a fountain for dogs out front of the entrance.

Paved biking track with easy elevation. Super scenic with a water body. Decent parking with a portable toilet. Full loop is around 3.5 miles!

Beautiful, expansive park in a quiet area. Good for dog walking, hiking or walking. I spent a few hours daily hiking around this spot during a short trip to Lincroft. Parking is excellent. You can enjoy a short walk through the woods or more of an open air hike through fields. Paths are clear cut and quite easy to follow. As always, the Monmouth parks system offers a gem in Thompson Park. Best county parks in the state of New Jersey.

I am mobility impaired, but still like to get out and about as much as I can, especially in outdoor environments like Thompson Park. I have a collapsible electric wheelchair and Thompson Park fit the bill wonderfully with its 5 mile paved loop. The scenery was inspiring. This was my first time, and I returned three days later to traverse the loop in reverse. Needless to say, I will be visiting Thompson Park regularly.

We arrived Nov. 5th and was amazed at the beauty and size of this park. With wide flat trails, we biked around. Absolutely a place I will go again. Beautiful for walking, biking, strolling. Clean and spacious park. Nice clean bathrooms

My map GPS took me to the annex, but I made it around to the correct entrance. There are many trails both paved and unpaved. I enjoyed the trail in the woods. There are bathrooms located in the beautiful house on the property. I’m looking forward to cross country skiing there this winter.

Best place ever to make great walks with my puppy. He also enjoys the off leash dog park very much.

It's one of the best parks in NJ. We come here to bike, hike, kayak (you can bring your own or rent one), cross country ski (you can rent a set if you do not have one). There are lots of kids' playgrounds. One of the if not the cleanest parks we've been to.

A beautiful walk, the trails are all paved and open. It is mostly in the sun so bring a big water bottle. There are benches and Porta potties along the way. Lol We walked 5.64 miles. Right now there is an owls nesting and you might be able to see the baby owl. 5/5/22
