I loved the waterfall hike, not too tiring and lovely spots to take a couple of pics. Great spot for a picnic, braai or birthday parties. I highly recommend this for a family outing or even just to get away from the hustle n bustle of daily life. A great place to quiet the mind 😊

Beautiful Paradise Valley Nature reserve situated in the heart of Pinetown, Durban a great place to visit. There are various trails that leads to the amazing waterfall, many bird species and so much more to see and experience. Lots of fun in exploring the flora and fauna of this valley. This is the best picnic spot for the entire family.

I was so disappointed with the waterfall area We were not even able to take pictures as it was overflowing with burning candles and ritual performers. I felt out of place, like I was not suppose to be there, a family who had traveled ahead of us said outloud that he too felt out of place....

R19 for adults as at Jan 2024. Needs a bit of a clean up after all the flooding but still the Paradise Valley we know.

It Was My First Time Ever Hiking And I Enjoyed Each And Every Moment Of It. My Favourite Part Was The Waterfall 🤩💥 I Highly Recommend Anyone Who's Never Been There To Try It.

The nature reserve is in a Disgusting state. There are no bridges to cross the river to go on any of the trails. There used to be a beautiful bridge. That is no more. There's a strip of wood in the river with parts of a bridge in the river that people were crossing. Apparently it was damaged on The 1st Jan 2024, but looks like the big bridge was damaged years ago. pollution is at its worst. The water is filthy. The grass was only half cut. Wanted to share some childhood memories with my kids but never made it to the waterfall. Definitely don't recommend this nature reserve.

Great place for a peaceful hike.. Long as you have some nice trail shoes and a energy drink you can even try the more challenging longer trails. Waterfall trail is a quick 5-10mins walk

I went on a day where very few people were visiting the Reserve, which was excellent, because parking is very limited. R19.00 entrance fee. Clean. Very serene & peaceful. Vast areas to picnic near the river, or away from it I found the trail scary because I'm not used to it, but it was calming to be surrounded by nature & water. Hoping to become a regular.

A beautiful place with a few short hiking trails. We took the waterfall trail. What an experience!! The whole trail was scenic, with the waterfall at the end of the trail being the highlight. Nice place to have a picnic or braai. My only complaint is that there is no shop or stall. We will definitely go back.

Held my sons first birthday party at Paradise Valley Nature Reserve in the private section which can be rented out for functions for a fair R109, normal entrance is R17 for adults. We all had a beautiful day spent alongside the river and with the sun out many other families and events were being held creating a festive family tranquil atmosphere 😊

This is a amazing place for a picnic and hosting small parties with friends and families. You have to pay a small entry fee of less than R20 for adults and less for children. It has an amazing landscape. But the hiking trails are not encouraging as they are quite short and mostly less than 1km. Also if you want to see the waterfall, I would advise you don't go on a Sunday.

This was one of my favourite outdoor places for family fun and adventure. The picnic areas as well as the hiking path do not seem to be up to standard anymore. We did visit not long after the heavy rains so this could be a reason for the unkept grass and overall poor experience. The hikes however are still enjoyable.

Peacefully abliss on the trails. Not too hectic from the park to the Waterfall. My 2 year old walked most of the trail herself, just had to help her over some short bridges and Rocky uneven areas. They could of added distance boards on the trails has the main board doesnt clearly say how far also so people know how far they actually have to walk counting in that they have to walk back has well.

In all respect to religious rituals. However, if this is regarded as a public space, at least inform the public when these participations are taking place or close of the site for the day. Not fair to be charging visitors a fee when they can't take full advantage of the waterfall and hiking trails. Overall, this is an amazing hiking spot, especially one that the entire family can be part of.

A nice place to hike. They have many different trails, with just one long trail (4km) and that is a bit of a trickier one. Most of the other trails are on the shorter side and aren’t very difficult. The place has deteriorated a bit since the last time we were here.

Couldn't even go to the bottom of the waterfall because of zion rituals being practiced there... went on 1 hiking route (shayamoya) which led us to nowhere, we eventually had to walk back same route we came as we riched a dead end

Be very careful when going to the waterfall top platform the wood is not nailed down. Walk on carefully on the sides. But the view from there is well worth it

Very nice scenery and a beautiful waterfall to checkout. This place is full of nature, has a long stream that you can follow to the waterfall, multiple paths that you can hike and a area specifically made for having braais, which is somewhere near the entrance as you come in. There is one path that takes you right under the freeway. Very cool.

Lovely place to chill and swim. You just have to find nicer parts of the river to swim in. The falls is magnificent but the walk to the falls is not😂 so far it's the best park I've been to in KZN.

This is more suited for families looking for nature time, but I wouldn’t recommend this for people looking for a hike to get away from busy city noises or for some peace and quite. The property isn’t well maintained especially compared to other privately owned sites for hikes and other outdoor activities. For example there is a dodgy temporary bridge to cross towards the other trails and waterfalls because they haven’t fixed the original one - it’s not recent and seems to be a long standing problem along with other dead branches and foliage directly in the middle of paths and litter collected in some parts of the river. The Shayamoya trail seemed a little unsafe towards the top, but the busy main route to and from the waterfalls seemed okay.

One of the most beautiful places to visit....loved everything about it.....only problem is the dirt....people seem to be littering alot and it seems the park is not being maintained by its management....so its kinda sad to pay to enter and see bins full of rubbish overflowing which seem to have been there for months......but besides that....its a really lovely spot to visit

Beautiful, but the water was polluted and it smelt like sewage. I think it was just a bad day though because I’ve been here loads of times and it’s usually great!

Intended on going for a nice afternoon stroll but it was truly a sight for sore eyes. We walked for about 10mins and turned around to leave, the river is highly contaminated and the smell is so bad that it makes you feel like throwing up. Save yourself the trip and money. Entrance fee is R17 pp.

I loved how it was so peaceful and clean after the lockdown, it was a mess before but you can see now that they are doing maintainces here and there .... thoroughly enjoyed the trail to the waterfall, the picknic site was buzzing with excitement, a great place to take your kids for a swim and do birthday parties.

  • 4/5 Ronan C. 3 years ago on Google
Beautiful place, only problem was that bins around the area are over flowing and people are now leaving rubbish next to the bins outside. So maintenance needs to empty bins more regularly

So it was decided that we would head on to paradise valley for the day to get some fresh air and take in its beautiful scenic trials. Prior before going I phoned the land-line number given on Google maps to enquire about certain actives such as entry times, entry fee and if we are allowed to braai as we have now moved to level 3 as a country and certain activities are prohibited. However to my dissapointment there was no answer. Therefore I posted this question on the site in hopes that it would be answered by the reserve. Someone did answer however their answer was totally misleading as when we arrived we found out we could not braai and they did not accept cards only cash for entry fee ! Really dissapoting as I feel that the public should be kept in the loop on updates on covid-19 regarding the restrictions taking place within the reserve so that we DONOT waste our time driving all the way. Also if someone could kindly pick up the phone when we are calling to enquire about these things it would save a day wasted. Thank you for nothing!

The place was sadly full of litter. It was shocking!!!! What was more concerning was when we entered, there were cleaners at the entrance but obviously not doing what they were supposed to.
