If your idea of a boutique hotel is an old building somehow restructured but very hard to live this is your place: small rooms, shower and toilet in boxes within the room, very steep stairs, very noisy (a lot of traffic all the night long). Breakfast "a la carte" very slow, and quite poor. Our room was the intermediate level, 35 USD, the "standard " rooms are even worse, just inside windows. In our opinion there are many better solutions in Thakhek.

Didn't stay at the hotel but visited the restaurant. We stopped to have a few drinks and ended up staying for hours (oops!). We were craving spirits after weeks of travelling through the countryside, and thought they were very reasonably priced (around 24,000 kip), and ordered a bunch of dishes. Everything was amazing - especially the beef dish. Hands down the nicest 'steak' we've had so far in SE Asia. If we stayed longer in the city we definitely would have gone back and gotten the same again! Absolutely 10/10 experience. Highly highly recommend

The best place to work from in Thakhek because of the reliable wifi. Plus they serve very nice coffee and shakes as well as a good variety of food (local as well as western food like lasagna, pizza, baguettes) which is just very slightly more expensive than in other restaurants. However, they don't have an AC in the restaurant, only fans but I didn't find it a problem if you sit more inside.

Our experience at the Inthira Hotel in Thakhek was very good. The rooms were very clean. Our room on the 2nd floor was spacious and everything we needed. The hotel is centrally located but it’s a ride from the bus depot. You have a nice view of the small Wat across the street. The cafe staff was very nice and the lattes and breakfasts were good.

Great location, cold AC, good English speaking front desk, hot shower, cute decorations, quality bed sheets, kind of expensive for Laos, breakfast is average, nothing special, seems like they care more about claiming breakfast is included than giving a quality breakfast experience I would not recommend getting the bigger rooms because, they face the street which is very noisy and the windows are not thick so the sound comes into the room all day all night. For a superior room this should have insulated windows and door panels. Also The air conditioner in the big room isn't strong enough to cool it down. You will be hot especially with walls that face the sun directly. We were woken up at 7:00 a.m. with very loud hammer drill sounds piercing through the wall. I guess they're doing construction nearby so maybe they don't have any control over that but it's really loud and I definitely would not recommend staying anywhere close to the other building if possible while they are doing construction Apparently the staff didn't know that it was noisy until I told them either. I wish they gave us the option to choose a different room

Breakfast with this view is best I can find in Thakhek city. I am a frequent business Traveller. My expectation was fulfilled with $33 nightly rate breakfast inclusive) for walk-in. Room condition is good although Air-con installed against a room bed. Of course, Beer Lao is available.

An incredibly charming hotel with a professional staff! The restaurant has great food and drinks and it's so close to the riverside shops and restaurants, you could walk anywhere from here. The rooms are really nice and they have a great breakfast.

Went here for dinner, ordered a cheeseburger and pasta carbonara. The fries with the cheeseburger were cold, and the bread dry and untoasted. The carbonara is nothing like a carbonara. We also tried to order coffee, they have a machine and beans, but still it was a no have. Wouldn’t go here again

Without any doubt the most atmospheric place to stay in downtown Thakhek. We especially loved the dark wooden floors and our romantic balcony. Our room was spotless clean and comfortable, without all the extras that we never use anyway, and even came with a lovely hot shower. Hard mattress though (but nice soft pillows). Included breakfast was simple but delicious and served with a smile in the great open restaurant of Khop Chai Deu downstairs. Filter coffee as much as you want. Service was friendly and helpful. Initially there was some confusion about the room we booked, but the staff was very understanding and willing to look for a solution. We regretted we only could stay one night and definitely would choose again for Inthira on a next visit to Thakhek.

I can't comment on the rooms but looking at the prices online they seem very expensive for this area and don't have any river views. It has a beautiful temple opposite which is nice. I came to look at the food menu and prices and stopped for ice coffee which was delicious and not too sweet. I had some communication problems at first both using English and Thai but I still got the drink I asked for. Staff seem nice and friendly but maybe they are not native to the area. The cardboard straw was nice to see and is a first I have seen doing this to reduce plastic use. The place was practically empty when I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon but I'm assuming it is more of a bar restaurant than coffee shop. Still nice place to chill outside and watch the traffic go by. Lovely interior deco with lots of very comfortable seating.

Just rating the food! Western dishes are overpriced. Portions are small and taste is very very simple. Service isn’t really good either. We only got one menu and the second one I asked for never came.. also tried to order a coffee, but that wasn’t possible since I guess there was no one capable to use the machine..

A very relaxed and easy going hotel. Rooms are adequate with shower and toilet but without TV ....and we didn't miss it

Too expensive for the real value. The room was nice, but the toilet was noisy during the night, and it poured water constantly, so we had a wet bahtroom all the time. Also lack of communication. They told us the check out was at 2PM but they came to the room at 12PM for the cleaning saying it was check out time. The breakfast was included but it was very poor, and you had to pay for the coffee.

Ok, but grossly overpriced. I stayed at the Dongsan hotel (1km away), half the price and magnificent views from the top floor. Go to the Dongsan hotel.

Do not eat here. Worst meal I've had in thakhek. A mountain of noodles and 3 tiny pieces of beef. I paid the same at the riverfront restaurant last night and it was delicious with a good amount of beef.

We stayed in the twin rooms and the superior suite. The best thing of this hotel is, is that the shower and toilet are seperated which is quite rare in asia. I would recommend the hotel to put a door in the hallway that leads to all the twin rooms, so that it blocks the sound of the breakfast room in the morning. For the rest the rooms were well equipped and very clean. The food in the restaurant was good. The staff was kind enough to let us store our bags for several days and they helped track down one of our t-shirts that was lost during laundry.

The star system has to be taken in context in Laos and rural Thailand. Don't expect high threadcount sheets and linen. Don't expect room service. But this hotel over-delivers when compared to what is expected. It is clean, pest/bug free, good rooms with comfortable beds, aircon that works, good bathrooms with separate toilet/shower stalls, good hot water flow, good water drainage. Some better rooms have private balconies. The restaurant downstairs serves great local and western food ( we tried others nearby and said we should have just eaten in-house) Not many tourists come by but you won't go wrong by choosing this hotel.

Management needs an attitude adjustment, cranky and pretentious. Cafe staff are great. Rooms are alright, but front desk really brought it down.

The place is very well located - this is the main positive point. However, the staff do not seem to be committed in doing their job. We almost feel that every time we ask them a piece of information (bus schedules etc.), we disturb them. The room is basically furnished, rather small and neglected (there was a leak in the bathroom for example, the window does not close). People in the corridor can be heard easily. They ask you to take off your shoes before going upstairs but they don’t even care to fix the leak in the bathroom. The breakfast is scanty with a touch of butter and marmelade. They make you pay the slightest extra piece of bread. Overall, our experience in this hotel was very disappointing. We do not recommend.

We really liked the rooms we stayed in. Small and cosy with nice brick design, a TV and shower/toilet. Perfect for what we needed. Bag storage was available for us to do the loop :) A lovely stay here

Best hotel in Laos so far! We loved the rooms with separate shower/toilet, soft beds and nice interiors ... Staff is friendly/supporting and restaurant worth trying it. If you miss a room in here, don't go to Mekong Hotel!

I have been there with some friends for dinner, I took vegetable lasagna who was soso ( missing salt and bechamel not really well done maybe with tomatoes would have been better)and with a little salad whp habe been worth the price of 75 000 kips. Also i got a mushroom soup because i was still hungry and this was a bit too liquid not like a velouté and the bred not awesome, the croutons were greasy... 48 000 kips My girlfriend tooks a supreme pizza who was also soso ( the dough pizza was too thin and miss somes herbs) small size 80 000 kips My boy friend took papaye salad who was really good and spicy. Unfortunately no dessert here for now.

Really charming hotel! The rooms are much cheaper when you book them directly at the reception (i.e. 15 $ for standard or deluxe room without breakfast). We can definitely recommend it! Only two downside are that they do not seem to have a designated place for luggage that people want to leave for the loop, it will just stay behind the counter and the breakfast is not really special.

Weird place. The room was fine, good bed, but no hot shower. The hotel doesnt provide service to help with bus tickets even though every other hostel/hotel in Laos does. Food wasnt great. Receptionist seemed young and unexperienced.

Not worth the price. Standard room has a weird layout, it is dark, very small and noisy. Better take a private room in a hostal for at least half the price and probably better rooms.

I ordered twice. First time I ordered pizza. The pizza was not good at all. The leaves have a too strong taste and the rest of the pizza has no taste. Sorry but that pizza was disgusting. The next time I ordered a barbecue skewer with beef meat. When they served it, the meat was totally raw and had a strange taste. After some minutes on the fire they served it again. Still a weird taste for beef meat. At the end I didn't eat it. It was quite expensive though! So after that I can't recommend it.

Nice and spacious rooms with balcony, clean and cozy. Price is too high in comparison to all other hotels ins Thakhek. The breakfast is included though, but not really good. Still I think it's the best option to stay in Thakhek...

I just love the atmosphere here right when I park in front of the place. Good food, helpful and nice staff. Rooms have no window and are a bit choky if you are used to big airy windows. But it well worth the price. Recommended.

Rooms are small but very cozy and clean. Staff was friendly. The owner is very customer oriented and cooperative. Thanks for that! Why not five stars? The breakfast has to be improved!!! That was one of the worst breakfast we had in two months asia! It's perfect located in the middle of the town and across from the two most famous motorcycle rentals.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Thakhek. We sat in reception and booked on line to get the best rate. Lovely spacious room with balcony, hot water, air con. Creaky floor!! Friendly staff who all speak English. Good choice for breakfast. Recommend and would stay again.

Not a bad option, in a good location. The standard rooms are compact and a bit dark (the window opens to a stairwell) but the beds were reasonably comfy. Wifi, hot water and AC all worked, and the room was clean, although the bathroom is rather a weird design (with separate tiny alcoves for the shower and toilet). The rates on booking sites like Agoda are typically much cheaper than walk in rate (which is a bit overpriced).

😐 Protip: don’t let the receptionist cheat you. We had a lady tell us 800,000 for 2 rooms (a 2-bed room and a 3-bed room). I looked over and saw the real amount was 500,000. She quickly corrected herself after I pointed this out. A bit run-down, but clean enough and good location. The open hallway fee...

👍 Possibly the best value hotel in the city (160,000 LAK, or $11 as of June 2022). Visited this place 4 times now. Rooms are clean. Wifi is available but are poor most of the time. 👍👍 Great hostel! The owner is great and helps you with planning your thakhek loop trip and gives you some great advice. You can leave your backpack at the hostel. The dorm was clean, but some curtains for privacy would have been nice.
