Fantastic location. That's the best that can be said. Room full of 30 mosquitoes Service is so bad it's funny. I was given the key to a room that still had unmade beds and cigarettes in the ashtray. The bed, when I got a clean one, was comfortable. Fan only. Clean enough. I would actually stay here again, despite the price. Location is fantastic.

Protip: don’t let the receptionist cheat you. We had a lady tell us 800,000 for 2 rooms (a 2-bed room and a 3-bed room). I looked over and saw the real amount was 500,000. She quickly corrected herself after I pointed this out. A bit run-down, but clean enough and good location. The open hallway feels great to be in the morning.

Exceeded expectations. You don't book the Mekong hotel expecting a luxury experience but it delivers as advertised. Low-moderate mould/grunge levels (very acceptable for the price). Water refill available. Little soap biscuits lathered well. Working AC. Nice location on the riverfront. Pillow was not mouldy (as seen in another review) but I did find the mattress springs a little uncomfortable.

A big Below average hotel with the worst service. With the limited options available travellers like us has no good options to choose in thakhet. 250kip will be the right price if you really want to stay.

Bad experience for a night, mosquitos and noisy air-conditioner. But I love the front view.

If you like clean bathrooms, cozy soft beds and a quiet night, dont book the "Mekong". For 5$ more you get all that (and even more) at the "Inthira" around the corner.

I guess you get what you pay for,200,000 a night November. It’s a beautiful old building on the Mekong ,worth it for those two things! Check your pillow as mind had mould all though it.

Disgusting and dirty. There were blood stains on the floor. Towels are dirty. Bedsheets are dirty. The room smelled of mold.

Saw quite good rating on Agoda. But I don't think so. Upon opening my room, saw the fridge door is open, 1 opened half empty beer was inside. Window is broken, unable to closed, leaving a gap on both side of window. Mattress material too thin, can feel the spring underneath. Furniture are old and whole room looks run down. Staff at counter, friendly however need to ask then she will answer, exp Breakfast. Breakfast served ala carte local food with Vietnamese coffee. Location overlooking the River.

Decent place to stay. Nothing special but fine for a couple of nights. Rooms are very large. Wifi is poor and only works properly in the reception area. Good, quiet location.

The room smelled of cigarette smoke, the bed was super hard, and no view from any of the rooms. However the shower was hot and they let us check in at 4am. It was old and run down, but not so bad by Laos standards. It has this almost charming Soviet era decor in the rooms which was a novelty. I wouldn’t stay their again but for the last available room in town, in the middle of the night, it served it purpose.

Not the most wonderful hotel on earth but it is affordable and well located. Our room was really spacious and everything was clean, but the room was very dated and our bed was rock hard (like sleeping in the floor). We got free toiletries. The windows could not be closed completely, which made the room a bit noisy. Thankfully there was a mosquito mesh on the window. Staff at the reception were friendly. You get what you pay for, but in this case the room rate could have been a bit cheaper. Breakfast not included.

A beautifully appointed hotel right on the banks of the Mekong River. The rating I gave is due to the fact that the service (at least at the time) was very poor from most employees.

None of the rooms are mosquito free. We asked for a mosquito net for the bed, but the only thing they could offer was moving to an AC room and paying thereafter. Big cracks in door and windows, and still found a bunch of mosquitos in the new room. Sure, the hotel is totally fine, comfy beds, big rooms, beautiful location etc. But in my opinion the safety issue is completely unacceptable in a malaria area like this.

WARNING ! NO HAMMAM ! SAUNA CLOSED ! NO SPA ! INFECTED OF MOSQUITOES ! We got cold water and the bath didnt need a plug to be filled up, was lot of hair stuck on it ! We had cold water and had to ask the reception, a man came to fix it, next morning again cold water and no pressure. No bathmat in the bathroom and no curtains. Nothing in the fridge but we got 2 bottles of water. Really disappointed and the reception didnt speak well english so couldnt understand much but looked annoyed by my friend asking her for sauna, hammam and spa on the agoda booking. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL ! NOT WORTH THE PRICE !

The Mekong Hotel sits on the river front road and gives nice views across the river at night. The prices are very reasonable – approx. USD 20 – 30 per night – and the rooms are a good size. The showers have a good supply of hot water and the WIFI is free and of a reasonable speed.

Probably the best you can get in a town that has nothing going on. The room was only just OK. Karaoke bar a block away that went into the night. Barking dogs and roosters in the morning. The rooms are huge and sparsely furnished. Bed was rock hard. Literally. But a view of the Mekong from the walkway, an elevator, and a real reception area.

Not a bad place to stay for a couple nights. Room is big, AC (for 140,000 a night), private bathrooms, tv. It's pricey for what you get but it's a good location - next to the night market. Not the cleanest rooms but good enough. I had a big issue with the ants and bugs however. They really liked my backpack so I had to unpack everything and brush them all off...was not pleasant. Also these flying bugs were everywhere. And a ton of mosquitos.

The rooms are only equipped with a 2 single beds & nothing bigger. Our room was disgustingly dirty including the bathroom, the walls, the floor, the bed sheets etc. The door was broken & wouldn’t lock. The tv didn’t work. The towels were stained, ridden with holes & definitely were not clean. We asked for cleaner bedsheets & towels & were told they didn’t have any. I made a complaint to the desk staff upon leaving & they did not care. Waste of money!

Amazing views over Thailand and the Mekong. Even for a couple on a budget you can stay here for just 100,000 kip a night. Clean and good, much appreciated after the loop.

Old, but clean hotel in a good location. 100.000 KIP for a double room with fan. Staff speaks English, good wifi, hot water. We had a problem with water heater and they were happy to change the room for us.

Their service staff was very friendly and courteous.. Their rooms, though clean and spacious, however is in desperate need of refurbishment.. All the lights and plumbing works... It's an old establishment with a magnificent view of the Mekong River... Ample parking space within the hotel compound...

We stayed there two times. Both times the cheapest rooms were "not available". So we stayed in the 140 000 Kip ones. They were spacious and with air con (which we didn't need). One bed was hard as wood and the other one very soft. The bathrooms look very warn out, many stains in the bathtub and on my "clinically cleaned" toilet was a small hair... Staff was always friendly and the location is very convenient but you pay too much for what you get.
