Bu Khalaf coffee shop is an authentic traditional Bahraini coffee shop and is a great place to either start or end your journey on the Pearling Path. The green exteriors are a reminder of the island life and the comfy interior of antiques is a pleasant reminder of how life used to be in the past. I really enjoyed listening to the music playing throughout the coffee shop that's typical of the early 1900s era and when played over their antique radio, it even includes the raspy sounds of old vinyl. I like using this as a starting point because of the proximity to Shaikh Ebrahim Cultural Center where you can buy a ticket to see all the historic homes in the area. There is also a convenient parking garage nearby.

Nice little place with traditional decor for a tea or coffee, a sort of small cultural centre. It was good to find something authentic and not ubiquitous Starbucks. The owner didn't want to charge me for tea saying I'll pay "next time" (he was relaxing himself with friends and was probably lazy to bother with minor payment). Not that you should go expecting free stuff but shows kindness and hospitality of locals so worth supporting.
