Absolutely amazing food. Batch loaf bread is to die for. Visit Monaghan just for this and the homemade pesto! Potted crab is unreal. Cod and prawn salad was amazing. Marinated chicken is gorgeous the curry sauce - out of this world. A Must visit in Monaghan

We discovered this little gem of a restaurant while celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary in Monaghan. Staff were attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. The chef was able to accommodate my husband's garlic allergy and for the first time in years he was able to enjoy lamb in a restaurant with no fear of becoming ill, very much appreciated. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back next time we are in Monaghan. Thank you everyone for our delicious culinary experience.

Absolutely fabulous meal this evening! The half batch loaf was warm and crunchy, the chicken strip starter was very tasty. For main we got fillet steak, onion rings, chips and bombay potatoes. Steak was cooked to perfection, couldn't fault anything. Highly recommend the Batch Loaf!!

One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in Ireland, and probably the best customer service anywhere I’ve received. The Batch Loaf is so homely inside, we had the half batch to start with homemade pesto, and the Potted Crab - both delicious!! For mains we had the monkfish and prawn risotto and Duck which were amazing, the dauphinoise potatoes on the side were as good as I’ve had anywhere and the mushroom onion mix was a perfect side for the duck. The range of wines was really impressive, we had a Malbec. The highlight of the night came when we got to dessert stage - we had mentioned on the reservation it was our anniversary - we didn’t even order dessert and they arrived out with ice cream candle and a customised plate designed in house by the staff! When we went to pay they gave us the plate to bring home, such a nice touch and small things really do matter. The staff are all so friendly and genuinely care about how your experience was. Batch Loaf is well worth the money, we travelled one hour to visit and we’ll be back for sure. The Poc Fada pub downstairs is also really nice for a drink before and after!

Amazing set up, warm and welcoming. Quick service. The food is amazing. We went for our anniversary and they made it really special. We got starters each and a main and was too full for dessert. Portion size is perfect. Seems like a busy place and I'd recommend booking a spot instead of walking in

All in general was not bad at all, lovely comfortable place, friendly staff, just food was not that nice. Especially fillet steak. But I could say that in comparison with other places in Monaghan town I would give the Bach Loaf 4 stars

An absolute gem of a place. Faultless venue with exceptionally attentive & nice welcoming staff.Our servers name was Shirley who was simply incredible & went above & beyond when she found out we were celebrating. Both the bar downstairs & the restaurant upstairs are beautiful. We had looked at reviews of other venues but delighted we decided on The Batch Loaf. The food was second to none.

Nice decoration with a comfortable atmosphere staff very nice and friendly and very switched on. I had Fillet steak with Chips, steak was very nice but small for 32 Euro. The Chips unfortunately where FROZEN, for me frozen Chips is no no and charged 4.50. Had dessert of choc brownie, again didn't free very fresh I'd say definitely bought in and not freshly made. Food was OK but nothing amazing but I didn't leave anything as I was hungry. Probably wouldn't return but experience wasn't awful just not great.

First time dining here and it was a nice evening. Staff were very accomodating and the service was good. Probably best to book in advance.

Best vegan risotto I've ever had! Monaghan has few options for vegans, and, even though vegan options aren't marked on the menu here, my waitress was very knowledgeable about what could and couldn't be modified and the chef did an outstanding job making an off-menu risotto for me. It was so ridiculously moreish that I probably couldn't eaten a second plate! I actually regretted not getting a serving to go for my lunch the next day. The side of garlic bread and salad wasn't great– the garlic tasted like it came from a jar, and the salad had nothing on it (no olive oil, lemon, salt, etc.). But the risotto was so good that I didn't even care lol. The restaurant itself is simply gorgeous, and the interior designer should be applauded. It was a lovely atmosphere to read a book in while enjoying such a tasty dinner. My waitress was very friendly and helpful. A fantastic experience all around, and a highly recommended eatery!

The restraunt . The only thing that did not suit me was the stairs . The staff were professional and very nice .the food portions were perfect .the nicest shank of lamb ever .my wife was in awe of everyting.well done to all your staff. ILL BE BACK !!!!!

I only dropped into the bar for a pint. I didn't have any food on that occasion. However it rightly has a great reputation for good food.

We were here to surprise a friend and the staff were so helpful in helping us pull it off! The food was absolutely stunning!!!!! I went for the vegetarian risotto and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had!!!!!! Definitely recommend!

Lovely restaurant. Fab food and service. A batch loaf as a starter...? Bread and a pesto dip? just too filing and too much as a starter for one. ..one slice is enough!! If your buying...share with 4 people at least...its bread.

Was just there tonight for my in-laws birthdays, the place is fabulous from the lovely decor and the kind staff to the unreal food. Staff were lovely even came out and sang Happy Birthday and brought extra ice cream during dessert. Wonder place 10/10

Nice spot with good bustle and atmosphere. Nice varied menu with fast service and friendly staff. Decent prices. I had the beef springroll and one of the burgers, these both were a bit bland so would avoid them next time. Other dishes that people at the table ordered looked nicer and got decent reviews from the diners.

We went hear on a recommendation. I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect. The staff were so friendly with a warm welcome and the food was exceptional. I am not a fish lover, but had the warm prawn and cod salad, it was absolutely gorgeous and presented beautifully, my main did not disappoint either. I would highly recommend The Batch Loaf to people, and look forward to returning again. I wish all the staff the very best in the future and hope this business continues to strive in these challenging times we are all going through at the moment.
