Blissful place. Got to pay pilgrimage after a long time. Easy to reach by road from Ambala Cant. Peaceful place to connect with the inner peace and Akalpurakh. A must to visit place. Though weekends and special festive days are quite crowded as sangat from nearby places visit the Gurdwara Sahib in huge numbers. A must to visit place.

The Gurdwara is dedicated to the memory of the eighth Guru Sri Harkrishan Sahib Ji. He visited this place on his way to Delhi. It is situated on the Ambala-Naraingarh road. The Guru during his journey from Kiratpur to Panjokhra, travelled through Ropar, Banur, Raipura and Ambala. Along the way he gave the universal message of Guru Nanak, to disciples, who came to call on him. As he neared Panjokhra, a disciple spoke with humility, “Respected Sangats are coming from Peshawar, Kabul and Kashmir for Darshan. Kindly stay at Panjokhra for a few days so that they may have the chance of seeing their beloved spiritual preceptor.” The Guru agreed to extend his stay in this village. There lived a learned Pandit, Lal Chand by name, who was proud of his caste as well as of his learning. He came to see the Guru with devotion and asked, “It is said that you sit on the gaddi of Guru Nanak, but what do you know of the old religious books?” By chance Chhaju Ram, an illiterate dark-skinned village water carrier happened to pass by at that moment. Guru Harkrishan asked one Dargah Mal to call him. As Chhaju Ram came, the Guru enquired if he would explain to the Pandit the gist of Bhagavatgita. Saying so, the Guru placed his stick over the head of the water carrier, who astonished every one by giving a convincing commentary on the sacred book. Lal Chand’s pride was overcome. Humbly he fell at the Guru’s feet. Both he and Chhaju Ram became the disciples of the great Guru and traveled with him up to Kurukshetra. It is said that Pandit Lal Chand entered the fold of Khalsa, in Guru Gobind Singh’s time and took the name, Lal Singh. He met with a hero’s death fighting in the battle of Chamkaur, on December 7, 1705. According to historical records, Guru Harkrishan on reaching village Panlokhra, made a boundary of sand and said that any one who wanted to see him, should stand there, make his supplication and he would have his desire fulfilled. A shrine has been built at the site. *There are many shrines in and around Kurukshetra connected with Gurus. The place has been visited by Guru Nanak, Guru Amar Das, Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji.

Gurudwara Shri Panjokhra Sahib is one of the most religious pious and peaceful place. Its glory is so tremendous that guru Hari Krishen ji while moving towards Delhi from Kiratpur Sahib made a deaf boy narrates Gita. Usually on weekends numerous devotees visit the gurudwara to take blessings.

It was built to commemorate the visit of Guru Gobind Singh. Another Gurdwara dedicated to sixth Guru Sri Hargobind stands close to another holy tank, called Sannihit tank. There are many other shrines associated with Gurus. When Guru Hargobind visited Kurukshetra on the occasion of the solar eclipse, he met many Bibeke Sikhs who were holding congregations. He was much pleased to see that they were, able to grasp Guru Nanak’s message according to his teachings. Thousands of Hindus and Sikhs visit holy Kurukshetra on the occasion of Kumbh mela on solar eclipse. Here Lord Krishna gave the message of the celestial song called Bhagavatgita to Arjuna before the commencement of the Mahabharata war. Haryana Tourism has set up a tourist complex at Pipli near Kurukshetra Railway Station. It provides facilities to tourists and pilgrims. Besides there is a restaurant, and spacious lawns for garden parties. This historical place is 152 Km from Delhi.

BRIEF HISTORY This Holy Place" Gurdwara Panjokhra Sahib Patshahi 8th, Is Consecrated By The Sikh's eight Guru. Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, by virtue of their visit at place during their journey from kiratpur to Delhi on 7th to 9th day of month Magh on Vikrami era 1720 (i.e in February 1664) During the stay for three days he blessed the devotees with Gurmat preaching too. On seeing large number of follower with a young Guru (approx eight years old only) at this place, a resident of this village named Pandit Lal Chand Ji asked the Sikhs," who has come here in so royal style". Then Sikhs replied politely filled with full devotion for their Guru that. eighth Guru Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji showering spirituall blessing doubt and he sarcastically remarked" during Dwaper period Lord Sri Krishan appeared and he uttered complete Gita and now this boy with enlarged name as Hari Krishan had become guru too. Wao!." On next day Pandit Lal Chand in influence of his proud of his learning and cast reached to Guru ji with Holy book. The holy book Gita written in Sanskrit script" and challenged. "it will be only in my acceptance as Guru if you utter Gita' with discourse." Sri Guru Har Krishan Ji judged his inner intentions which were under the influence of his proud of his learning's. Then Guru Ji simply smiled at the Brahman's impudence and said that "your doubt shall still persist even if I perform as per your words. You come with any person of your choice, he will utter Gita's Sloks and will explain their meanings too". On listening these word he came in more proud and after a while he came with a deaf and dumb person name chhajju who was water - carrier by profession, along with he belonged to dishonoured low cast (during those days it was trend that the majority of persons from low casts were bereaved of any education). As per local naratives, that the Guru Ji called Chhajju near to him and asked to have holy dip in Gur sarover (primarily it was in shape of small pond) and asked Sikhs to get him dressed with new cloths to show as honoured. Now in front of Pandit Lal Chand and all others the Guru ji touched his head with a stick of his hand with blessings just by touching the Chhaju started uttering Gita'S sloks fluently along with discourse in spite of being deaf & dumb. Everybody along with Pandit Lal Chand were astonished by seeing such astonishing erudition of Chhajju ji Pandit Lal Chand Ji realised his doubtful and mistaken awareness of spiritual power of Guru ji and just immediate he bowed his head to Guru ji and sought for the forgiveness Later Pandit Lal Chand become the devoted follower of Guru ji and न्या he surrendered his rest of whole life as Sikh spending in preaching the Gurbani to sangat. On the third day at this place the Guru ji established a Nishan Sahib (Flag) in a small heap of sand and blessed with words that all the wishes of each of the visitors shall be fulfilled whosoever shall be visiting with love full faith and obeisance/adoration and their donations shall reach to us After stay and preaching for three days at Panjokhara Guru ji resumed his journey for Delhi. 1. On first Sunday of every month the Baptisaton (Amrit Sanchaar) is being conducted here. 2. At this place the annual Gurupurab of arrival days of Shri Guru Hari Krishan Sahib being celebrated in shape of congregation fair during Magh Sudi 7 to 9 wich falls during january-February every year. 3. Prakash & Joti Jot Gurupurabs of Shri Guru Sahib ji are also being celebrated with full of love and enthusiasm. 4. Please do visit and pay tour obeisance at Bhora sahib (Basement) too.

I personally believe that we(Mortals) are no one to rate any religious place. This is the well known Gurudwara Sahib in Ambala and people have much faith in it. You are always welcomed to visit this place and don't forget to take the prashad. Also, have the Langar in case you have time. Waheguru 🙏
