When booking it advised to pay €10 per person if you wished to access the thermal spa during your stay. We paid this on arrival along with full payment. We visited the spa soon after checking in after a 3.5hr drive & the spa receptionist advised access is free to hotel guests. We assumed this was a simple mistake but upon leaving the spa we approached the check in desk to ask why this was charged unfairly to us & the lady was abundantly hostile, seemed annoyed that we asked this question, was not friendly whatsoever & walked away from us without explanation. She poked her head into the door for staff & kept us waiting for over 2 minutes & said ‘fine, I will refund you’. I asked if she needed my card & she shook her head & looked away… no manners, no apology, no politeness. The spa is a joke. Everything is broken. It is dull, drab & neglected.. there is growing mould on the light above the pool. The carpet in the terrace lounge is so dirty it’s very unattractive. This hotel has gone down hill since covid, we visited in 2019 & why we wished to visit again. The hotel is noisy at night but hats off to the Ivy Restaurant for supplying me with a gluten free breakfast. Much appreciated however I asked for eggs & never received them or a reason why not. Rooms are very clean, those ladies do a great job. Free parking is good & bar staff are friendly. Received refund but won’t be back.

My daughter & I had massages which were fabulous, so relaxing. However we then had to wait for nearly an hour for our afternoon tea which had been booked for 2.30, we could have spent more time in the relaxation room. Afternoon tea was lovely when it did arrive. We also got vouchers for the thermal suite which is being renovated & obviously not in use.

Lovely family stay here. Rooms were very nice but air con didn't seem to work and it was very warm. Bed was lovely but pillows very soft. Bar food and restaurant food both very nice and service very good but a few mistakes on the bills that had to be corrected.

The hotel offers everything you could want for a relaxing night away. Only a short drive from Dublin with a Spa and rosette winning restaurant. The food was excellent throughout our stay. The dinner menu had lots of choice and vegan/vegetarian options that were delicious. The breakfast was buffet style with some hot options available to order to your table.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff were great. It was a bonus meeting the guys from the world's no.1 rugby team whilst there too. Topped our visit.

We are just back and had an amazing stay, we had the executive suite so spacious and lovely view. All the staff were so friendly especially Niamh on reception she is a delight and couldn't do enough for us. Topped off with the mini spa experience and it was just amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Really disappointing afternoon tea. Low quality (not fresh) and quantity. Massage was good but spa facilities are closed (we were only made aware after the booking)

Just stayed for two nights, rooms were fine (clean and a good size), location was average,(short walk to a small village but no grounds as such for a worthwhile walk) they were doing renovations so the main restaurant was closed meaning bar food only which I had to say was extremely poor!!!!! Very limited menu (unless you like burgers) , we got linguine the first night which was the worst I'd ever had and breakfast the next morning was of equal quality......the reception staff were lovely but some of the waitresses could definitely do with some training ......... unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Arrival to the spa was met with the receptionist speaking to us very rudely, my sister then stepped into boiling hot water and injured her foot in the sauna room after only 30 mins arrival after the treatments which cut our experience short. From our interactions with the presumed management it felt like they just wanted to make sure my sister could walk out of the hotel and that there were no serious damages that they would have to pay for. As someone who works in the hospitality industry I was just truly disappointed with the lack of service in all aspects of our stay. While the price was definitely right for a 4 star hotel our experience at Dunboyne Castle Hotel did not reflect that.

Love this place 💖 the massage was so good, we booked another for the next morning. The restaurant was gorgeous, and the spa, pool & jacuzzi were a treat! A perfect girls' weekend away.

The property and hotel itself were magnificent. Rooms were very nice with sliding glass door (no balcony, capped railing - beautiful views for relaxing to the rain). Bar service was extremely slow - but waitstaff remained non-stop the entire duration. Bar food was decent (not great) but breakfast in The Ivy was very good.

This hotel was very neat and clean. I loved the property. Enjoyed a walk throughout the yard and wooded areas around. The trees are beautiful. The food at The Ivy restaurant in the hotel was pretty good as well! Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

Service is the best here! Rooms are nice, clean, very quiet! Food was great. I wanted to use the thermal suite but didn't get a chance to. Desk staff went out of their way to take care of us well! The village is great and easy access via bus to Dublin.

Just home from a lovely girls night away in Dunboyne Castle. Staff so friendly, we had lovely Food in the bar for lunch & then went into their restaurant for dinner. We had 2 triple rooms & they were very spacious & beds very comfy. They have 2 bars which was great as the bar downstairs had live music which is always nice & had great atmosphere or you could have a quieter drink and chat in their bar up in their reception area which was lovely to sit back in, enjoy a drink or three and have a good natter. The staff are so lovely & look after you so well. Overall, we had a fab night & we already look forward to going back for another girls night away. Thank you Dunboyne Castle.

My friend and I had booked a day spa and were both very disappointed. The spa was dirty, with quite a bit of mould and a lot of things weren’t working - outdoor jacuzzi, steam room, lockers & the lifts in the spa. The robe I got was dirty was brown marks on it so has to ask for another one. The pool was freezing also. Very disappointed and would certainly not return there.

Hotel was nice but not straight forward to get to from Belfast. Had package with evening meals. Unfortunately I hadn't realised that the food would be Barfood. Had I realised I wouldn't have gone (albeit that the food was good barfood). Unfortunately the service was poor. On both nights despite, having resetvations the wait after placing order, was around an hour.

Enjoyed the hotel very much, overall a very comfortable stay. Quiet and relaxing. Staff were very nice and helpful. It has a spa which is nice and a selection of bars. If you are going to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant reserve a table. We didn't and and had to take a table beside a door. Disappointed to see a couple of the reserved tables were not used, we managed to move later on. Bar menu was quite good. I ordered the Massaman curry. Presented well and sufficient portion, unfortunately for me it lacked the real Massaman curry taste and overall was a bit disappointing. Would still return to stay again.

A hotel with a rich history in beautiful surroundings. The room didn't live up to my expectations and there was a shortage of staff at breakfast to clear and clean the tables which resulted in a queue. Breakfast itself was really good. Room Service not so great. Hotel staff were very helpful and willing to accept my feedback in person before I left.

Beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The residents bar had great live Irish music. Burgers are immense. One of the best I ever had.

Food is excellent from breakfast to Bar food and restaurant , beautifully presented and tasty. Staff are very courteous, helpful and friendly. Spa is disappointing , needs a lot of attention, tiles are falling of poolside , lots of weeds growing on the patio in hot tub area, dirt & dead flies on the floor in Sauna, changing rooms generally grubby, steam room not working and on top of that, a charge on entry, seems a bit cheeky to me. On check in we were given a deluxe double, which was shabby, dreary and needed a spring clean. Mattress had seen better days too. We contacted reception and were given a better room, which we were grateful for, but the point is, why should one have to complain in the first place just to get a clean, decent room. The name is misleading also, nothing here resembles a castle, so manage your expectations to avoid disappointment.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending a gala event at the hotel. We had a wonderful time. The venue/room was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were excellent. Shane who was everywhere including behind the bar did a great job of keeping the conversation going while being extremely busy.

The hotel grounds and the entrance lobby are very impressive. On check in we were asked to pay for the stay in advance which I thought unusual. When we came back to the hotel after a function we inquired if the bar was still open for residents. One member of staff said no, the other one said yes. Most bizarrely, when breakfast was brought to our room the next morning, the member of staff asked me to pay the tray delivery charge on the spot. When I asked could we not pay it on checkout I was told No. I found my credit card but the staff member could not accept card. We then got a phone call from reception asking us to pay the charge. I’ve never had this happen in a hotel before. The room was fine even if the furnishings for more suited to an office than a hotel suite. Our room had two bathrooms and the sinks in both were cracked.

I very recently had the good fortune to stay at the hotel with my daughter Karen (special needs). Our room was very spacious, an absolute gem when factoring a wheelchair into the mix. The staff were so professional too, from front desk to bar/ room service/kitchen/housekeeping....they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful 10/10!! It was my daughter's birthday during our stay and on 2 separate occasions she was treated to a lovely cake/candle arrangement from staff. The Spa was a delightful addition and I'll definitely take advantage of again. So to Jonathon/Kim ... Please pass on our sincere thanks to ALL staff, we will certainly be visiting you all again in the future. 5 stars from me for this fabulous hotel & staff!!
