** Since the business has decided to comment. My group of SEVEN was offered a smaller room (Studio) compared to our two bedroom suite. So no, that did not work for us hence why we said no. All other issues including the roach and toilet paper were absolutely brought up to the front desk as they were the ones that came up to the room to handle the disgusting state this room was in. We were also asked to go buy our own fan and then get a reimbursement. I'm sorry, but on vacation I don't believe a customer should be asked to go to Walmart to fix the hotels disaster. Please do not try to make it look like this comment is coming from a problematic customer. This was a genuine BAD experience at a POORLY run hotel and future customers should be aware of it.** Really confused as to how this hotel has the positive reviews it has. As someone who reads these reviews to make a decision I appreciate honesty. My family and I unfortunately had a terrible experience at this hotel. I will start with the staff was kind enough to comp us for the first night and a portion of the second night. We stayed here for two nights for a concert nearby. Upon arrival to the room, we noticed it was hot in the room and immediately turned down the AC. The AC system never kicked up that night. We called the next morning to let them know the AC was clearly broken. The person did offer us a smaller room but with 6 people it was not a good option plus we were arriving late from a concert that day. During night two, we arrived late from a concert to a room that no one ever attended while we were away. No towels and no toilet paper. This was another HOT night. We all tried to take cold showers but that wasn't an option either. The only water coming out of the shower head was hot water. So add that to the already hot room. I also want to add that the rooms were disgusting. There was clear water damage on the roofs and walls. We woke up to a cockroach on the carpet the last morning. The bathtub had clear stains all over it. Overall will NEVER stay or recommend this hotel again.

The location is the only pro as this is less than five minutes from the airport. There are several other hotels you could try instead. I recently stayed here thinking it would be the same quality as the Orlando location. I was sorely disappointed. Days Inn would have given me a similar quality at half the cost. The faucet was coming off the wall. The shower knob kept getting stuck. The front desk was inconsistent. To top it off, the pool was dirty. This is unacceptable during vacation. I requested a room change but no one followed up. I gave a reminder. For a two night stay and not hearing from anyone by the next check in time, I called them late the next day and said don’t worry about it. They hadn’t bothered to follow up with me. This is probably one of the poorest experiences I’ve had with Marriot.

Horrible experience. This place is disgusting, more like a Motel 6. Lobby door was locked. After 10 minutes standing outside, the front desk person finally showed up, without a friendly welcome. Carpet is dirty, minimal decor, dingy hallway. The room was the same way. Didn't want to touch anything. Bed had no life left in it. Must have been 50 years old. Don't waste your money on this place.

We've traveled the country in the last three years and so far this has been the worst TownPlace Suites we've stayed in. Dirty rooms, like grossness dripping down the walls. Mold covered up with paint. Greasy and sticky. We would have switched rooms, but this wasn't an option as they were too booked to accommodate cleanliness. On top of that, they were $400 a night and were able to get it because the other hotels in the area were comparable... but only in price. Next time, we stick with Hilton.

Please save yourself a Headache and do not stay at this Ghetto suite! My Husband and I stayed here after going to a beautiful wedding, all to experience our toilet overflowing nonstop at 3am like a lake! We called front Desk just to meet a very disrespectful unprofessional manager who needs a training in Customer Service! This place was Horrible don't do it!!!💯🤬

Great place to stay with kids. We were here for a night for my boyfriends surgery near by. They arranged a ride/shuttle for him to get him to the Norman Parathyroid Center early in the a.m. They are welcoming and friendly at the desk. The breakfast was hot and amazing. Very well organized and clean. From hot coffee/tea to orange juice and Apple juice. Waffles, muffins oatmeal along with cereal. The pool is heated. It's a very nice long pool. Very well maintained. There is also a grill outside beside the pool area. They also have a 24 hour gym area. I'm very pleased with my stay. If your ever in the area for the airport or Norman Parathyroid Center this is the place to stay. I would recommend it.

Front desk staff were okay the young lady wasn’t that friendly I remember when first lodging at this hotel it was very beautiful and clean, Marriott standard. My family and I were very uncomfortable as didn’t receive any clean towels nor bed was made we had a few problems in the room we asked for assistance, well…..we never saw anyone to assist. I’m not sure what’s happening maybe less staff this sure not Marriott standard hotel has gone down tremendously!! We will not be returning!!

The night Time clerk could be a little more friendly. he's kind of very cold and condescending almost. however, the hotel's beautiful. it's gotten an amazing pool. it has a beautiful grilling area. I would stay here any day of the week

This hotel bills itself as the airport hotel with free shuttle service. My daughter and her friend were flying at 5 a.m., so I booked a room for them. At check in the Marriott employee explained that to catch the shuttle, just come to the lobby about 10 minutes prior to the time they want to be picked up. Not comfortable with that, they arrived in the lobby at 2:40 for the 3 a.m. pick up. The shuttle DID NOT ARRIVE UNTIL 3:40 a.m!!! My daughter had an anxiety attack. The only reason they made their flight was the pilots were also late, probably catching the same shuttle. We will not stay or trust this place again. Use at your own risk, but be forewarned.

For the price, my wife and I were really not impressed. It was ok. The room was clean, but on the small side. All the lobby accoutrements were there. The best feature was the very close proximity to the airport (the noise from overhead plane traffic was next to non-existent) Overall, ok, but again, not for the high price.

First of all, it cost way too much for the caliber of hotels. This is I am a lifetime, titanium member, and was not treated with respect that I deserve. No upgrades available no welcome gift. How can you charge it was $400 for a hotel of this class? I will never stay here again. I was giving Marriott a bad name.

Just left here and had to leave a review.....I enjoyed staying here, it was nice and clean and the staff was amazing from the time I walked in the door until the time I checked out. Breakfast was good and the room actually had EVERYTHING you need in it. It is like a small efficiency apartment. The area was perfect, nice restaurants, mall and real close to the airport. I'll be back for sure.

Close to the airport, no frills suite style hotel. No major complaint besides the shower curtains reeked of cigarette smoke. Room was clean but outdated.

Decent property, but it's rundown. Doesn't feel like there is any attention to detail. Stayed 3 days and the room was never refreshed. WiFi is poor. Breakfast was solid.

Having stayed at other Marriott, Hilton, Hyat I was surprised how compact it was. BUT- what it lacked in space was made up in amenities. A cooktop, microwave, frig-freezer, etc. Bed comfort, breakfast variety great, and my favorite-Pure Life bottled water. Friendly and helpful staff. I'll be back. (Booked under family name. Rm 207 on 9/9/23)

Worst hotel I have stayed in. First room we were put in had a live cockroach, mentioned to front desk he moved us to a room that was as hot as a sweat shop. He almost acted like it’s a normal issue based on his attitude. The bed is like laying on a concrete floor. Nothing feels clean at all. This place is terrible, never stay here!!!!!

I would definitely stay here again if they offered discounts for Healthcare workers. The hotel is clean, the gym has free weights. The location was perfect for work.

Quite possibly the worst value in this area near Tampa International Airport. I chose to stay here due to proximity to the airport since I had an early morning flight. Room is cramped. The specific room I had was first floor near an exit. Exit door closed loudly and was used throughout the night. I got maybe 2 hours of sleep. Several fixtures throughout the hotel were broken and the room and common areas were poorly maintained. If I were to stay nearby again I would spend the extra $20-40 per night for a significantly better quality hotel and better experience. Absolutely a waste of my money.

A very, very nice, clean hotel with a professional, polite, helpful, and kind staff. I also like the kitchenette they have in the rooms to, very convenient. And it's right next to airport with a free shuttle. Can't beat that at all. Plus there is a World Of Beer (WOB) restaurant within walking distance of this hotel.

Very outdated! The mattress of the pullout couch was very stained and nasty and old looking. There were no extra sheets in the room for it. The bathroom was nice but there was a bug in it which freaked me out. Breakfast was meh and the cheerios were from February since they were the hearts. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in at a hotel.

It was a good spot if you are looking for a place close to the airport. The accommodations were nice and spacious. It was a 15 minute walk to a nice park and beach. Close to shopping and restaurants.

Rooms and hotel are dated. Lobby is nice and vending is nice but the rooms seem like dorm rooms from the 70's that someone cleaned up real quick before we arrived. I would have been ok with all of the above if the pool would have been clean!!! Why have a nice pool if no one can swim in it? The lack of maintenance and cleaning of the pool was disturbing. That's what we went here for and such a let down to not even be able to dip our feet in without fear of bacteria, etc. Eeeeeew!

Rooms are a bit outdated but the AC was kickass, the bed and linens were super comfy. Bathroom was nice sized as well. The Continental breakfast was pretty good with coffee, juice and choice of muffins, breakfast sandwiches, the fruit was a bit sketchy (old) but decent overall experience.

Staff was great. Puma Reed took very good care of us when the mini bus proved not to be handicapped accessible. Great options for breakfast and good food in the area.

Great hotel away from home experience with outstanding wifi. Many hotels fail to understand that many of their customers are business people that need to have good wifi. The room was excellent. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Free breakfast was really nice too, not just donuts and coffee. We're talking hot sandwiches, cereal and fruit here. Very nice!

This place really needs to consider better beds for a "suite". The bed we had (room 219) feels equivalent to plywood and my wife ended up sleeping on the couch. I ended up tossing all night. I cant imagine staying here a week. The A/C makes some terrible screech when it kicks on and wakes everyone up. Found the biggest cockroach ive seen just chilling in the room. He didnt even run away when we turned the lights on. His carcass, after i smashed him, is behind the fridge.

The staff not always at the desk and no way to get ahold of them except wait for them to come back from the office behind the wall at the desk. Breakfast could be better not exactly up to the standard that other Marriott locations typically have but probably because of covid causing the change in their breakfast offerings

Hotel is very old, air conditioner very very loud unit inside the room, not able to work to watch any tv! Pictures are way more better than reality!! ! As a Bonvoy member tried many other hotel and this one was the worst ! The only good is close to the airport ! But there are better hotels around close to the airport too

Overall a nice hotel where I enjoyed my stay. The staff was exceptionally friendly, including the support staff such as housekeeping and maintenance. The layout of the hotel is intelligent, giving easy access to any amenities you desire. Free continental breakfast is served each morning, and an always open self-service store is in the lobby for any food, liquor, or utilities you may need during your stay. Some light criticisms would be: the laundry machines on site are all coin operated, the option of a credit card operated machine would be handy, since many people don't carry change any more. The airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes which is great but it can get overcrowded and even full where they need to ask people to wait for the next shuttle. Arrive early for the shuttle and definitely don't wait for the last possible shuttle before your flight. The lighting in the bedroom of my unit was lackluster, there was no overhead light, only the bedside lamp. Even with the curtains open during the day, the room felt a bit dark. A more major criticism is that the bed was a horrible spring mattress that I'd advise anyone with existing back pain to avoid. I've slept in plenty of spring mattress that have been fine, but this bed was particularly painful to sleep on. I need a massage after this stay. In summary this is a good hotel with great staff and nice amenities, but the bed was a major detriment to my comfort.

Overall I'm giving it a five. The bathroom is the biggest con; the tub spout doesn't pull up all the way causing less shower flow, the toilet has slow flush, high traffic areas could use a paint touch up. All easy fixes. Snack shack had an interesting self scan which nice option. Breakfast provided hot sandwiches and waffles from dinner grab and go. Staff super friendly. Room itself was nice and clean. We were in walking distance of World of Beer ( download the app). I would def stay again!!

I would say the only good thing about this hotel is that it is within walking distance to World of Beer, but that wouldn't be fair. The rooms are clean and it is very close to the airport; you will hear every airplane that takes off, but you have to expect that. What I didn't expect was no soap of any kind in my room. I also walked around the 2 bedroom suite looking for a trashcan to find the only one under the kitchen sink. I called down to the front desk asking for soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc, and the woman at the desk told me she would try to get to it. After an hour or so I called back. She told me housekeeping says it's in the shower. It should be, but it was not in my room. I offered to come pick it up myself. She handed me 3 large bottles for the shower and a bar of soap. When I tried to shower the next morning, all of the bottles had some sort of safety so no one steals the contents, and since the woman at the front desk didn't open them...no soap for me. It's the little things that make or break a hotel. This was a lot of little things.

Rooms need a needed refresh! Breakfast sandwiches are tasteless and unacceptable for human consumption. Top management should try them before offering as Breakfast items to their customer paying almost $200 a night! The offering of Breakfast should not be advertised. Be honest and transparent. The only hot Breakfast item of waffles not available on 1 of the 2 mornings. No one knows how to make the waffle mix when kitchen person does not show up ~ no apology! There are better lodging options in the vicinity!

We walked into the hotel and were greeted by a friendly person at the front desk. The room is nice and the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is wonderful. This is a great place to stay... and right by the airport!

Just had my worst hotel visit ever. I've stayed in Marriot hotels for over a year, and I'm a gold elite Booked a room at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Tampa June 18, 2022, and set check-in to 1:30 AM as our flight landed at midnight. Got the mobile room key prior to flight take-off, and called ahead to make sure the airport shuttle ran that late. When we landed, I called the front desk for the shuttle which was sent promptly, and got to the hotel maybe ten minutes later. After walking into the front lobby the worker behind the front desk tells us the system is down and can't check anyone in or out. So I'm like no problem I got my mobile key, well what do you know my mobile key says there's an 'error'. Lady at the front desk then tells me that she started an audit after sending the shuttle, and I would have to find another place to stay. She then goes and hides in the room behind the desk, leaving us stranded. Offered literally zero help and just smerked about the situation. I tried calling the Marriott 888 number but couldn't even get through. I finally managed to find us another nearby non-Marriott hotel around 4 am I guess the lesson in this is don't rely on the Mobile Key or for help from anyone.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL IF YOUR Bonvoy Elite!!! They will deny your benefits!!! Horrible horrible customer service!!! Titanium elite member for years and they refused a 4 pm guaranteed check out. There other other reviews where they refused to honor 4 pm check out for Bonvoy elite. Manager (PUMA?) is extremely rude. I HOPE THE OWNER SEES THIS AND FINDS A NEW MANAGER!!! There are other Marriott properties close to the airport. Will never stay here again.

Very old hotel. Not too well maintained and honestly wasn’t that clean. The staff could also be friendlier. The parking lot was tiny, but there is a parking garage that you can park in next to the property.

  • 2/5 Dwayne N. 1 year ago on Google
First a positive comment. If you are traveling after a cruise they have a guest Laundry room with large washers and dryers. This is definitely a two star hotel, I wonder if the franchisee is not complying with the Marriott requirements or else I am amazed that Marriott has not done quality control on this property. Has Marriott decided to have an extremely low end brand? This motel is nothing like a normal Marriott property. It started with the Hotel sign not being lit. The carpets in the hallway have huge stains, the elevators are dirty, walls and doors are dirty, paint is chipped off and the walls are stained. The bathtub/shower nonslip surfaces on the tub floor are worn out. I would think Marriott would be worried about lawsuits from shower injuries. Overall this is more like a Budget 8 or Motel 6 than a Marriott. The people are great though.

Great hotel next to the airport (you can walk to it from the rental car area of the airport). Good food options within walking distance. Front desk staff was amazing. Room is quiet and clean.

  • 1/5 Alicia 1 year ago on Google
There was what looked like a hissing cockroach in my room. Also the elevator was missing the button for the first floor so you couldn't get to it unless you walked to the elevator on the other side or used the stairs. Also there was only half and half in the lobby for coffee for 1 day.

TownePlace Suites is a decent hotel surrounded by better hotels. The rooms were suites that were clean, well equipped, and comfortable. They had a decent free breakfast in the lobby area, a functional gym, a gas BBQ (with available utensils on request), and a pool. I visited the surrounding hotels for their bars and restaurants and was happy I wasn't paying the premium for those amenities. It is close to the airport and within a short drive to many nice restaurants and entertainment venues.

  • 4/5 Stacie H. 1 year ago on Google
Very friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Didn't like that the only mirrors were located in the bathroom (full length and over the sink), this made it difficult for two people to get ready at once. Only close restaurant is world of beer. Had to uber to the store and a more populated area but we did walk back.. took about 40 mins to walk. All in all, it's a decent hotel, very close to the airport that offers free shuttle from the airport.
