My family has seen this Doctor since 2018. However, it is absolutely clear to us that Dr. Luckey is not interested in treating African American patients and I feel his behavior is racially motivated. Every eye exam Dr. Luckey brings up his personal and political views on whatever is currently going on in the nation which somehow leads us back to a discussion on inner city crime and gang violence. Why must conversations during our visits center around inner city minority families and the stereotypes he has developed in his mind about them. This Doctor is rude and unprofessional. The last straw was when I witnessed him speaking to my 12 year old in a scolding manner simply because she was uncomfortable with an eye pressure procedure he tried to perform. I believe my daughterā€™s experience during treatment was extremely unprofessional and rude. Once it became clear that my daughter was nervous about any part of the eye exam a trained professional would have explained in detail the procedure and what the patient should expect to feel during the procedure. Why would a professional scold a 12 year old child because she felt uncomfortable with a procedure to be performed on her own body! His establishment will never make another dime from my family ever again.

Iā€™ve thought long & hard on the situation my daughter & I endured at our most recent visit with Dr. Luckey. I knew I had to share our experience here in hopes of protecting others. What occurred was unprofessional & scary. My daughter & I have been a patient of Doctor Luckey since 2014. Through the years we noticed he enjoys talking about himself a lot. Which, is fine. He provided adequate care & is close to home. However in the last 4 years, he has begun to include political, economic & social topics unprovoked, increasing with each visit. This last visit on 1/24 made clear to me my family was no longer safe at this establishment. While washing his hands he abruptly said, ā€œ Iā€™m not going to get political but I have to bring up the constitution.ā€ He proceeded to inform myself, my daughter & his assistant that, ā€œthe attack on our capital January 6th was the right thing to doā€. Told me he doesnā€™t believe racism exists for black people as, ā€œhe knows many wealthy black people & they have the same opportunities as everyone elseā€. That he knows racism doesnā€™t exist for people of color as his, ā€œwife is Mexican & she says sheā€™s never experienced it.ā€ He believes, ā€œracism exists for white people as he had to go to school with all black kids, watching his back from being stabbed everydayā€. Now, these are just a few of the things we all had to endure in that room. My daughter had asked twice that he cease his tirade, he did not. We attempted to leave the room, as it was clear all 3 of us women wanted out of there. Dr. Luckey stood in the doorway insisting we hear more. After standing almost nose to nose with me, he finally backed away allowing us to leave. We received a phone call the following day from a woman acknowledging & apologizing for the incident. I donā€™t write this review for another phone call or a generic response from this establishment. Please do not generically respond to me. Nothing Dr. Luckeyā€™s office can say can remedy the situation. The incident is documented & was witnessed by myself, my daughter, & his assistant. Thereā€™s no denying this occurred. And with that, Iā€™m left with feeling this is no longer a safe place for diverse families like mine or people of color. What happened was hostile, offensive, unprofessional & wrong. To whomever is reading this, use your best discretion when considering this office as a provider.

Iā€™ve been a patient of Dr. Luckey since 2004 when another doctor whose name I canā€™t remember, sold his practice without informing his patients. I went to the office for my annual visit and in walked Dr. Luckey. I gave him the business because I didnā€™t know him and I felt abandoned by the other guy. Dr. Luckey proceeded to answer all my questions and give me the most comprehensive eye exam Iā€™d ever had in my life and Iā€™d been wearing glasses since I was 9 or 10 years old. In the years Iā€™ve been his patient then joined by my husband when I married ten years ago, weā€™ve developed a real relationship with Dr. Robert Luckey. When he first started his practice his oldest daughter worked for him for a number of years; his wife, also a doctor is not white; he grew up without the finer things in life and has worked hard for everything that he has; heā€™s an American patriot having served in the armed services and his work ethic translates over to his practice with the level of care that he provides and his willingness to invest in state of the art equipment for optimal eye health. Heā€™s a husband, father, veteran, son, brother and a man of principle. I saw another review where someone also black like myself labeled him a racist. Weā€™re so quick in our society to throw out that word and indict someoneā€™s character based on what she described as things that couldā€™ve been addressed on the spot with a conversation. Tough typing is easier than engaging with people in teachable moments at the table of brotherhood where everyone has opportunity to be heard and understood. Iā€™m not claiming Robert Luckey is a saint however I am saying heā€™s a good man who would be deeply disturbed to know someone took such offense to something he said to the extent that they defined him as a racist particularly when he was raised and schooled K-12 with people who look just like me and they were his friends. If weā€™re going to measure a man then we need to make sure weā€™ve looked at the many facets of that manā€™s life before passing judgment. My husband and I bought a home an hour from Dr. Luckeyā€™s office and we still faithfully come for our annual appointments. He could move his office to the moon and we would be right there too! Best. Care. Ever!

I have been going here for a few years along with my son for eye exam and prescription. Glasses. The office has nice professional look about it however, my sonā€™s visit today was decidedly a negative experience as they pushed unnecessary exam not covered by the plan. In Addition, they had excessive up charge on the glasses as well with coating protection and some sort of insurance protection plan which I find to be ludicrous as my insurance plan covers basic coating. The optometrist/owner seem to be more business then care oriented individual with few short conversations during the visits. I was clearly displeased with the actions today and immediately shared my concerns yet the office secretary/help was a bit condescending when I shared that the additional exam was excessive and unnecessary and said if he needed a in-depth evaluation, I would have chosen an MD Ophthalmologist office to do so. It was a surprise to me as they are usually very inviting and professional when you interact with them during a visit. My assumption here is that they do not like to be questioned especially if money is asked to be refunded. My son not being fully aware and not wanting to question the clinical relevance of the test decided to allow it even though it was not warranted on a general eye exam for his age and health. The definitive answer I received by the secretary/desk staff, who I will presume to have no acquired medical education claimed that this was standard of practice and is ordered on every person. It was the decision of the individual to decline. Therefore, an un familiar person with out any clinical understanding of what is necessary or unnecessary would have to make an ad hoc decision under pressure at the point of care thinking that it may upset the staff on declination and may be perceived in a negative light. I find this type of aggressive tactic unprofessional and inappropriate for any care as it seems to be geared to only achieving monetary gains for the establishment irrespective of its necessity. With that in mind, my family will no longer be paying clients for any further services. There are countless other options available in the area.

Love everyone at Dr Luckeyā€™s eye care. I just got 2 new pair of glasses and I couldnā€™t be happier! Gorgeous selection of frames. Dr Pete and Glen are the best. The girls behind the desk are always a great help. My husband and I both go there. Wouldnā€™t think of going anywhere else.

I have been wearing drug store reading glasses over contact lenses for 5 years because 3 other eye doctors told me thatā€™s as good as it gets. I went to Dr. Luckey and now I can see. No more reading glasses for me. Itā€™s great being able to see and read again. And the office is wonderfully decorated too!

It was my first time here. Dr. Luckey and his staff were so nice and professional. They were able to accommodate me for an emergency visit and he took the time to explain everything to me. Awesome experience! Thank you all for your help!

Highly recommended! I've been coming to Dr. Luckey for many years without complaint. The staff, especially Dr. Luckey, are very friendly. The appointments are on time. Perhaps the biggest thing is the wide range of equipment designed to test multiple facets of eye health. I feel that with these tests there is little opportunity for Dr. Luckey to miss anything associated with eye care.

Been coming here 15 years ago and Dr. Luckey and staff are the best. Everyone here is kind and friendly and extremely helpful. Iā€™ve had major eye issues for years and Dr. Luckey was the only one able to help. Canā€™t recommend highly enough.

Peter is the best! The entire staff is pleasant and efficient. It's always by appointment so you are not rushed and you don't feel like you are in an assembly line like some chain eyeglass stores. The decor is modern, comfortable and always very clean. The eyeglass selections are ample and there is a great variety. They're the best so call early because they book out far... like any good establishment.

I have very complicated eye issues. Dr Luckey and his staff always take great care of me and have provided me with sight I have never been able to obtain prior. His attention to detail in his field has literally improved several aspects of my life. I couldn't be more pleased with so many different aspects of his services. Thank you all!!

Their website mentions Emergency care but they use emergency patients as Stand-by so you will only be seen if someone doesnā€™t show up for their appointment. So donā€™t go here if youā€™re having an emergency.

Drove an hour to this location to have a repair only to find out there is only one person who can repair glasses and they were not there.
