A journey 3500 years back in time, Harrapa is a place of relics of an old once thriving civilization. There is a museum with remains dating back to those days. There are different archeological sites which were separately used for iron forgery, living quarters, cereal trade and market place. There's wheel and pram access and paved path all along. One can even find electric tram ride for nominal charges. There's a tuc shop and kids playing area as well. One can book a guide too. Place is about 10 odd Kms from N5 Multan road. Road access is alright though archeological site needs to be further developed and managed efficiently.

I visited this place in 2017, and it was truly remarkable. It offered an authentic glimpse into the past, allowing me to experience how people lived thousands of years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, even though I arrived late and it was quite quiet. I would highly recommend going earlier in the day to fully explore the museum and tour the fascinating ruins of the ancient past.

Harappa Musuem n ruins are located about 6 kms from National Highway; 20-25 minutes drive from Sahiwal. This is one of old est archeological sites of Indus civilization; other being Mohan jo Daro, Mehrgarh etc.. This ruined city said to have flourished around 2000-2500 BC on the bank of Indus River. Digging of the site started in 1921 till 1925. The museum was constructed one year later in 1926 which houses many historical artifacts like jewellery, toys, clay utensils, stone made knifes, skeleton of one male n one female. Quite a serene and a good place for students, families n all those who having interest in archeology.

By some estimates the Harappan civilization dates back to approximately 3000 BC. While the history buried in this amazing place is humbling, it was sad to see the state of general area. Some of the areas were preserved, cordoned off and had signage. The remaining vast space (where the guide told us were additional mounds that still needed to be evacuated) was open to all. The ancient bricks available for anyone to pick up. No signed asking people to stay off. Not sure of that would have stopped anyone. People were going beyond the barbed wire to take pics. Hope the administration can manage and preserve the site for the generations to come.

Harappa Museum has a lot to offer with its perfectly preserved Ancient City. The museum is well kept and the important things for a museum like security, maintenance and cleanliness all are well maintained here. I would really like to admire the museum administration for that. The ancient city is also of course kept very perfectly and precisely. Hence the only drawback I felt was the lack of "Canteen" here. There is only one canteen which also does not meet the standards.

Parking is available outside the museum. Its well kept and loads of things discovered from excavations in old times. You learn a lot.

Off the main road, less people visit sadly. Always took the backseat compared to Moenjodaro. Situated 10 km off the national highway, the site boasts a small museum and architectural ruins which have been buried under sand to preserve. Sad that I saw locals playing cricket on top the ruins. Baba Nur Shah wali shrine also exists within the boundaries of the ruins.

During my visit to Harappa in March 2022, I had the opportunity to explore the fascinating Harappa Museum, which provides a captivating insight into the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. As a history enthusiast, this museum proved to be an enriching and memorable experience. The Harappa Museum is strategically located near the archaeological site, allowing visitors to seamlessly transition from the historical ruins to the museum. The exterior of the museum is modest but welcoming, with clear signage guiding visitors to the entrance. Once inside, I was immediately drawn to the well-organized displays that showcased artifacts and relics from the Indus Valley Civilization. The museum boasts an impressive collection of artifacts, ranging from pottery and jewelry to tools and sculptures. Each exhibit is accompanied by detailed information panels, providing historical context and enhancing the understanding of the artifacts' significance. One of the highlights of the museum is the life-size models and dioramas that recreate scenes from the daily lives of the people who lived in Harappa. These meticulously crafted displays offer a glimpse into the architectural style, clothing, and social structure of the ancient civilization. Walking through these exhibits was like stepping back in time and envisioning the bustling streets and vibrant culture of Harappa. The museum also houses a well-curated section dedicated to the excavation and preservation efforts in Harappa. This section sheds light on the techniques and challenges faced by archaeologists and showcases the progression of research and discoveries over time. It is evident that the museum takes pride in its role of preserving and promoting the heritage of the Indus Valley Civilization. The staff at Harappa Museum were knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. They were readily available to answer questions, provide additional information, and engage in insightful conversations about the history and significance of the artifacts. Their enthusiasm was contagious and added to the overall experience. The only aspect that could be improved upon is the museum's size. While the existing space is utilized efficiently, a larger facility would allow for the inclusion of more artifacts and exhibits, providing an even more comprehensive exploration of the Indus Valley Civilization. In conclusion, a visit to the Harappa Museum is a must for anyone interested in ancient history and archaeology. It offers a captivating journey into the Indus Valley Civilization and its rich cultural heritage. The well-presented exhibits, informative panels, and dedicated staff contribute to an immersive and educational experience. Despite its modest size, the museum succeeds in capturing the essence of Harappa's ancient past.

well, it is the best place for those who have a keen interest in old historical places and architecture. It is 15 km from Harappa city. It closed around 5 in the summer season and around 4 in the winter season. Harappa museum I am not satisfied with the things present in it. It is too small for such a fantastic civilization although other .attraction in this site like the graveyard, the well, no gazi qabar are things to watch. Better to visit in a temperate season because it is too much hot and humid in summer season. No guide is available for your guideline.

Wonderful ancient civilizations, museum in there is little bit smaller but a lot to learn if you find someone local to guide you. Better to carry your eating stuff, because there is only little canteen over there. Important: Museum closes at 4 but the other place remains open till 05:30 but you would have to finish visiting before the sunset because there are no street lights installed at the site. We request government to improve the facilities so people could enjoy better.

The site of the ancient city contains the ruins of a Bronze Age fortified city, which was part of the Indus Valley Civilisation centred in Sindh and the Punjab, and then the Cemetery H culture.[1] The city is believed to have had as many as 23,500 residents and occupied about 150 hectares (370 acres) with clay brick houses at its greatest extent during the Mature Harappan phase (2600 BC – 1900 BC), which is considered large for its time.[2][3] Per archaeological convention of naming a previously unknown civilisation by its first excavated site, the Indus Valley Civilisation is also called the Harappan Civilisation. The ancient city of Harappa was heavily damaged under British rule, when bricks from the ruins were used as track ballast in the construction of the Lahore–Multan Railway

The Harappa civilization is almost 5000 years old. These archaeological sites are situated 15 kilometers further south of Sahiwal (Montgomery) district. The museum exhibits the items belonging to the Indus valley civilization that were excavated from the ruins of Harappa. This is one of the oldest known and recorded civilizations in the history of mankind. The museum is open to public and can be visited between 9 am to 5 pm in any weekday.

The Harappa Museum is like a magic machine that takes you back to ancient times! It's full of amazing stuff from people who lived there thousands of years ago. Cool pottery with pretty designs, neat stamps with secret messages, and even toys! The museum explains everything clearly, so even if you're not a history whiz, you'll understand. There are pictures, signs, and even fun things to touch and play with. It's perfect for kids and grown-ups too! And guess what? They're building an even bigger and better museum! So soon, there will be even more cool stuff to see. If you're ever near Harappa, you absolutely have to check out this museum. It's like a trip through time, and it's super fun!

The Harappan Civilization has its earliest roots in cultures such as that of Mehrgarh, approximately 6000 BC. The two greatest cities, Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, emerged circa 2600 BC along the Indus River valley in Punjab and Sindh. The civilization, with a possible writing system, urban centers, and diversified social and economic system, was rediscovered in the 1920s also after excavations at Mohenjo-daro in Sindh near Larkana, and Harappa, in west Punjab south of Lahore. A number of other sites stretching from the Himalayan foothills in east Punjab, India in the north, to Gujarat in the south and east, and to Pakistani Balochistan in the west have also been discovered and studied. Although the archaeological site at Harappa was damaged in 1857whe n engineers constructing the Lahore-Multan railroad used brick from the Harappa ruins for track ballast, an abundance of artifacts have nevertheless been found. The bricks discovered were made of red sand, clay, stones and were baked at very high temperature. As early as 1826 Harappa, located in west Punjab, attracted the attention of Daya Ram Sahni, who gets credit for preliminary excavations in Harappa. Harappa is an archaeological site in Punjab, Pakistan, about 24 km (15 mi) west of Sahiwal.

One of the most important archeological site and museum in South Asia and world. A central site of Indus valley civilization and home to the statue of a dancing girl and priest. One falls into the old trenches of imagination and the walk through the ruins takes one back to thousands years old. Scattered terracotta pieces, mounds and old trees, everything that is enough to to throw you in a visible yet unseen past of humanity.

Some four thousand five hundred years ago, a remarkable civilization existed in the vast plains of river indus and its tributearies including the dried bed of Hakra river in Cholistan and adjoining territories. It dominated an approximate area of 4,25,000 square miles from the foothills of the hamaliya to the Arabian sea. This civilization was contemporary with the civilization of the Nile and Mesopotamia. Among hundreds of ancient settlements being imprints of this civilization, Harappa and Mohenjodaro were two important urban centers, A series of Archaeological excavation. at Harappa, Mohenjodaro and other sites since 1921 have brought to light remains of systematically planned cities towns and settlements that present an out standing example of well organized civic life. The wide straight roads. well planed houses with elaborate underground system of drainage are still a model for present day town planners. Such excavation revealed an amazing story of the customs, arts and crafts, social system and economic life of the people who inhabited it. Remains of the civilization revealed at Harappa are still important and interesting. Digging below the fortification wall revealed an earlier phase of this culture called the kot Diji culture, At the north end of Mound AB even an earlier Hakra Phase occupation dating to 3900-2800 B.C. has been Found.

I visited on thursday while coming from Lahore to Bahawalpur. I heard and wished to visit so many times while driving on the road, but this time, I finally decided to visit this place. I reached at 8 Am , no person was available to serve , but I am thankful for the person who allow me to enter and visit the Khandrats... Place is so amazing and you feel like those people who lived here were more civilized and well aware of technology and town planning. Then after 30 minutes, officials reached and they open meusum for me.. I would recommend you people to visit atleast once in your life, especially who wants to know about history and civilizations.
