Last Sunday, we were needing something different, like delicious pizza from someplace local. So we decided to try takeout from the Von Ebert Taproom in Cedar Mill. I had some confusion about the menu items at the different locations on their website, but it didn’t matter. When I called, the lady who answered the phone, Claire (?) was as nice as could be. She talked me through the entire menu, and shared her thoughts on the best dishes, the most popular, and how they are constantly working on making their pizza crust even more amazing. She was so friendly and obviously proud of what they are doing there at Von Ebert, I could hear it in her voice. We ordered a BIG pepperoni pizza, a killer meatball sandwich (with extra cheese for me), and some chicken wings with two of the many different sauces she told me about, all made in-house from scratch. To say this takeout order didn’t disappoint would be a gross understatement. It absolutely hit the spot. Delicious. But to make it even more memorable, the staff was friendly to the point of surprise. They asked if I needed plates, forks, etc. and even introduced themselves before thanking me for coming in. Unbelievable. Truly friendly service is just so rare these days, and here’s this little local joint being absolutely awesome. I smiled and told everyone about their great, affable energy when I got home. I became a fan. Tonight, after a busy Friday, we decided to try more of the delicious-sounding menu items on Von Ebert website. This time, we ordered delivery from the flagship restaurant in the Pearl District. (The Cedar Mill Taproom is a limited menu, though it was all great.) Holy wow. Two different truly artisan pizzas, full-quarter chicken wings with woah-what-is-that-BBQ-sauce & homemade ranch, and poutine with the best kind of seasoned fries. Are you kidding me? Where has Von Ebert been all of my pizza-loving life? If you’re still reading this, stop reading. Go straight to their menu, and order as much food as you can. Because Von Ebert is the type of local restaurant that we all want to prosper and thrive. They are awesome and the food rocks. Five stars! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Von Ebert Brewery This is my go-to brewery in downtown Portland partly because it is conveniently located 5 minutes walk from my place and also it offers good selection of beers and ciders. The seasonal rotation is quite good also. The food is also excellent. The smoked whole wings are my favourite. Unlike some other pubs, Avon Ebert does offer healthy options too for those who are watching their figures 😉 . Just recently I also discovered the availability of remote ordering and paying option. Basically you can just grab a seat, scan the QR code and order your food and pay all via your smartphone. It is super convenient for people like me who is quite impatient when it comes to waiting for service. Ig: harry_explores_the_world

I decided to have a beer while waiting for the manager at the keen store to finish lunch. Went with the "I am Oregon" pilsner... That's a damn tasty brew. Heavy heavy on the pine without overdoing it or it coming off as artificial.

I love when you can go to a new spot and feel more like friends than just a guest. The female bartender here was super personable and friendly, along with other patrons at the bar. I ordered the flaming glow, which did not disappoint. I could find myself coming back here if I’m ever back in Portland.

I have been to Von Eberts a few times and usually when I go the food is excellent. Before yesterday, the last time I went was last year and I ordered the steak and truffle fries (first picture attached). These were cooked to perfection and so tasty that I recommended this place to all my friends. I went back yesterday after a long hiatus from the store, very excited for the delicious steak so I ordered the steak salad. Now since I’ve been gone, I don’t know if they changed their recipe, or their steak cooking process but the steak I got was so dry, gray and almost inedible. I was unable to finishing it and shocked at the quality. I’ve included pictures both taken by me so you can see the difference in the steak quality. I’m sure you can tell which is which.

While looking for a place to eat for Sunday lunch, I had called a couple of places in this area a few days before, and everything was completely booked. I made a reservation for Von Ebert Brewing just in case, but when we got there we realized that was totally unnecessary. The restaurant was seat-yourself and almost all of the tables were empty. After we made our choices to eat, we ordered at the bar and sat back down. The food tasted like basic bar food. I was a little disappointed in my daughter's quesadilla. What she was served was basically like a little snack and definitely not enough for a meal. Be prepared for a lot of homeless in the area and to pay for parking.

Our group loved the beer selection, very on point. Pizza/Pie was amazing and flavorful but sorry to say this, pretzels were very disappointing.

This brewery came with high recommendations from our tour guide and it did not disappoint. I had a flight of some good quality beers. The staff was very helpful once we had some difficulties ordering through the QR code directed menu. We only had beer so it's hard to give 5 starts when I don't know the food. I ordered a flight, but didn't like two of the 5 very much. My husband helped me finish as well as enjoyed the stout, Night in Tallin.

I hate your new beer can design. The old was classic, old world beer. Something serious.. The new is jelly beans and social media cute. Thank the Beer gods that the stuff inside is as good as ever. May your beer skill live long and prosper.

My husband and I stopped in for burger week. They were quite busy, but we were taken care of quickly. The staff was so friendly and talkative, which I appreciated! We ordered their Burger Week Burger --- a Smoky Pimento BBQ Burger --- and a couple of drinks. This burger is one that I was most excited about trying since Burger Week was announced, and boy did it live up to expectations! A juicy, smoky burger with fantastically crisp onions, thick and yummy pimento cheese, and a bold BBQ sauce are what make up the contents of this --- all between two delicious golden buns. Normally I don't quite like restaurant pimento cheese, because it tends to be bitter. But that wasn't the case here! I honestly wish this could be a regular item on the menu!

Von Ebert is a close walk to the hotel I was staying at. This delightful little hall is pet-friendly, has an array of award-winning beers, and has a great overall vibe. I'm not usually a fan of restaurants that utilize a QR code to order and pay for their food, but I found this application more intuitive and easy to use. Additionally, the service and demeanor of the staff are prompt and bubbly, which only added to my praise. I had the two sausage platter with sauerkraut, beer cheese, and mustard, a lovely combination of fat and tang. The sausages were juicy and plump, which is just how I like them. My partner and I also caught them during burger week, so we were able to have their BBQ burger with crispy onions, which proved to be an excellent little burger to share for two. By the way, I loved my double grey goose extra dirty martini. If you're in the area and are looking for a let-your-hair-down place, this is for you. Oh, and I enjoyed the notices on the bathrooms highlighting support for an unsafe or wanted date. Cheers!

We had a blast here! Incredible beers, delicious food, and fun vibes. The service is amazing as well — Max took great care of us and they had a ton of helpful info about each of the beers we ordered. Definitely going to come back here to check out trivia, and really want to get some crowlers! Check this place out.

Really good beer, and they have some unique brews. Service was friendly, and the food was good. I ordered their brisket sandwich and I do recommend it. I’m not a fan of the order through their website setup they have though, and I prefer talking to a human when ordering food and drinks; it seems very impersonal. My kids burgers were also really tiny. Overall I do recommend checking this place out.

The atmosphere is really nice. Super casual. Super friendly. I got a smoked turkey sando, perfect summer sandwich. It was light, flavourful from the smoked meat and the avocado and tomato jam (which is like a sweeter, less vinegary ketchup) complimented it nicely. Will go again for a laid back evening. My friend partook in the drinks and she liked the cider options.

I live very close to Von Ebert, it is my favorite brewery in town. First off, their beers are unique and I have drank most of them and have not been disappointed once. Their smoked wings are the best wings in Portland. The brisket sandwich is great. I've tried every variation of their pizza, very good though a bit pricey (old prices were spot on for quality of the pies). West coast poutine is a favorite as well. I refuse to give this place less than 5 stars - they have treated me great over the years and their food/beer is great. The one thing that needs to be improved is the walk up bar service they have had since the beginning of the pandemic. Roommate waited 40 minutes just to close out, I had to wait 15 minutes for my pickup order that I could see was ready when I walked in, guy next to me was mumbling to his partner about just wanting to close out. It happens quite often as a frequent customer. That being said they are dealing with staffing issues just like everyone else so you can't blame them at all. I just think there is a better way to handle it, maybe some type of electronic application to pay. Provide card at the beginning and every beer ordered gets automatically charged, when you're ready to close out you can leave the tip. Something along those lines. Thank you for being awesome!

Great place for dinner date! Chill music and tvs to keep you entertained, if needed. Plenty of space. Choose your own table and order your own food and drinks at the bar. Friendly staff. Food was delicious and great beer selection on tap (multiple pilsners, lagers, IPAs, sours, etc). Lastly, great price! Two rounds of drinks and an entree for two people each about $85 with tip.

What a fantastic brewery❗️ I enjoyed a flight with Clubhaus Lager & Drink Me Potion Sour being the highlights. Got a bottle of the Flaming Glow sour which was incredible❗️Definitely excited to try more beers next time I’m in town, 🍻

Beer was good although nothing out of the ordinary. The west coast poutine was not that good. Not sure if it is the place or I just don't like the west coast style over the traditional.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was much better than I was expecting for a brewery. Highly recommend the smoked brisket sandwich!

Parking: Paid street parking. It was not hard finding a spot on a Thursday evening. Service: A friendly staff member took my order accurately. She asked how my day was. I mentioned playing Scrabble all afternoon, and she responded with great enthusiasm, which was fun. Food came out speedily. Atmosphere: Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. Very high ceilings. Industrial vibe. I saw a wide age range of people there. There is even a tempting kids menu. PB&J with marionberry jam? As comedian Gary Gulman would say, “Are you reading my diary?” Food: Fresh and delicious. I ordered “The Oregonian” salad complete with Anjou pears, hazelnuts, and blue cheese. It was good, but salads definitely aren’t the big draw. My friend ordered a burger, beer, and pretzel. (She was hungrier than I was) and I got to sample. Fries are thin and crispy. My fav fry style. I dunked them in the pretzel cheese sauce. Not a mistake. I forgot to take a pic of the burger before my friend ate it. The pretzel was perfect-huge, salty, and soft.
