I've spent years coming to this park and it has given me so much peace and tranquility that I see it as my fortress of solitude. When I had trained for the marathon, I ran many miles back-and-forth on the Leif Erikson trail. I know this park very well and it reflects why I call Portland home.

She welcomed me with her open arms attractive green and melodies wind. Have a wonderful walk with her ❤💕 but time wouldn't allow me to join her so far, I've been experience with countable number of trials this one got #1 position for beginners like me, step up from low to high is stable growth, this one is my recommendations for step up to green and welcome to walk with mama earth.. I've walk 30% of wildwood trail I dropped off by alder trail. Week after next Tuesday I'll continue from there. Sorry mommy forest next week I'm going to see mommy ocean I'm sure I'll come to see you by 27th.

Largest urban park in the US! Forest Park’s jewel is the Wildwood Trail marked by blue diamonds. All other trails branch from that. Good for year-round hiking on well-maintained trails through old-growth forest. Highly recommend for a quick escape from the city to a mossy wonderland.

This is such a beautiful park! For being so close to the city, it's actually very quiet. Even on a Saturday morning you don't see many people on the trails and most of the people you will see are runners, so it's not very crowded. The Leif Erikson drive trail is more of a bike path so that trail is pretty populated with people on bikes as well as runners and hikers. So if you are looking for more of secluded hike among the forest I would stick to the other trails. But you do get some great views of the mountains from some points on Leif Erikson. Overall this park is extremely beautiful and a great place to get away and be out in the fresh air and get a good excercise in. There are many connecting trails and lots of different ways you can make a loop hike, long or short. My husband and I recently moved here from Ohio and this park has been a great escape and a pleasant surprise!

This place is a gem right next to the heart of Downtown Portland. I love all the trails, wildlife and sense of peace and stillness that this place provides. Other hikers and runners are courteous as they pass you. I am looking forward to exploring other parts of this great park.

Gorgeous! There are so many trails and ways to go, but they're all pretty. We parked by the nature center (easier to find your car afterwards and has bathrooms) and ended up going on the nearby lower Macleay trail. We went November 2023 and didn't see any banana slugs. After the hike, head to the nearby Skyline Restaurant for a yummy dinner!

A real forest in the heart of a big city? Yes only in Portland. Came on my first hike to this “park” many years ago and fell in love. The whole family finds this place refreshing, the perfect place for a reset whenever you need a break from the stress of the city except that it’s right in our backyard if you live in portland. So many trails you could easily get lost. There’s a few maps and bathrooms in front of the bird sanctuary and store. Don’t leave valuables in the car, it hasn’t happened to me but I know there’s been broken windows in the parking lots. Please take your trash with you and asides from it take nothing but some beautiful memories of our beautiful park.

Amazing trails and beautiful scenery. Trails are very long, but have nice paths(other than mud, which is natural) and decent amount of signs to be able to tell where you are going and what trail you want to go on. Signs are scattered at important intersections and are fairly easy to read.

If you’re looking for a hike within Portland city limits, this a great place to explore. Tons of well maintained paths that intersect so you can create the length and the amount of challenge you want. Very few signs of being in a major city, little sound pollution and occasion views of downtown.

Great day to discover other trails in Forest Park. Well marked, people courteous, and I'm looking forward to discovering more of the area. Easy drive for a hike because it's within the city.

Benjamin Collins' bench is on a section of Wildwood Trail between Firelane 15 and BPA Road. This loop has some nice elevation gain and views and trickling creeks and birds. Fewer hikers on this part of the Forest Park that south of Germantown Road. Lots of room for everyone. Also, checkout Hole In The Park, a section of the park that was destined for real estate until funds were raised to allow the Portland Parks to buy the land and keep it open to the public.

Awesome park with a seemingly never ending amount of trails from wide paved trails to narrower trails. Pick and choose difficulty and terrain and it extends forever. Easy to access by public transportation and super close to the city.

Was visiting Portland and Forest Park was recommended on every list of "things to do in PDX". Went for a run and got a bit lost (there are a lot of trails that intersect) but the scenery was fantastic wherever I went. The park is quite accessible by bus from downtown, which is quite nice.

Lovely park with lots to do! We went to the arboretum, the rose gardens, the witch’s house, the Pittock mansion, and the Audubon center. There are lots of good trails that are well maintained. The parking is all paid throughout which is a bummer (although if you go quickly you might not get ticketed). We skipped the Japanese gardens because everything else was free!

What a neat place to take in nature, especially in the fall. The hike or walk was very easy and so much forest!

Trails are nice, fresh air is amazing, but drive out east to Vista House if you want an experience you'll never forget! This is the place to hang with locals & enjoy the city’s lush greenery. As The Thermals describe it, “It’s enormous, with so many different trails, and it stretches all the way to Washington.”

Place: *Many trails here so you feel secluded though it is a very popular hiking area. *Not an exaggeration, this is an enchanting beautiful green forest. *Local and touristic. Pet: *Dog friendly. *Dogs must be in leash. *Dogs will love this place! Pros: *Cooling temperature all year around. *Easy to find parking (came at 6:30pm on a Sunday & 6pm on weekdays). *Running/jogging friendly place. Cons: *No trash bins. *Visible amount of poop bags. *Some dead end trails. Tips: *Check out the classy, tasteful & unique line of houses around Forest Park. *Know there are no bins; if you bring your dog you will have to carry the poop bag throughout the hike or take it with you. *2 loop trails doable for couple hrs - see photo.
