Great coconut chutney and garlic dosa! The Ambassador Idli is interesting but it’s quite a big serving for one person, so order one and shared it with 4 people. The giant dosa is too crispy, so not as enjoyable as the smaller one which is half crispy half soft. Plain Idli and Wada are great. Lassi is nice and thick. Great place to eat South Indian food in Mumbai.

Visiting for the third time, Amazing good south Indian food. Very authentic, the service was so quick and good. Staff is very helpful. Limited parking available. Expect a good half hour to 45 Minutes waiting time almost on all days. The restaurant is quite small but very good food and service. Definitely coming back soon.

If you're looking for an authentic South Indian food in Mumbai, then this is the place. It's a paradise for South Indian food lovers. The coconut chutney adds a cherry on the cake. Molaga podi idli and Ambassador Idli are one of a kind. Overall a great place to visit atleast once.

Awesome place for eating. Rarely we see complete picture of eating joint where we get authentic food, tasty, fresh in peaceful atmosphere, 5 star ambience and very polite and understanding service staff. This should be a place for learning for people who own restaurant or hotels. They should also visit such a wonderful Retreat for tomy and mind. 💥💥💥💥💥

This place has been on my list for quite some time. I love South Indian food and I had heard that this restaurant is known for it. We went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We got a table only for waiting for almost 30 mins. The service was prompt. However, food was pretty average. There were a few dishes that we tried were good but overall the food was average. But I have to add that, the filter coffee was amazing.

I’m have been a regular here and today I thought lemme write a few lines for them. Their food has always been fresh and good. It’s authentic South Indian food at its best. Their Dosai is fresh and cool. They would make it Crispy or normal as per your request so it’s superb. Their filter coffee is heaven . The staff is good, polite and suggests good options.

It's not a review, but a feedback I have received from my friends. They love it. I reached late so couldn't get an entry. They take the last order at 10 pm. So entry after that is definitely not going to happen. At 11 they close like putting down the shutter. I guess thats the price to be paid for maintaining quality (or so my friends say) 💁‍♀️

One of the best south indian restaurants with a very homely feel to it. Nothing swanky. The food is simply authentic. The taste is yummy. The chatni is super good. Hot piping sambhar. crispy dosa. Mysore dosa was one of the best I have had.

Dakshinayan is an amazing restaurant in Mumbai for authentic South Indian food. I usually come here for lunch, be prepared for some waiting as it is usually full during lunch hours. There is a wide variety of dishes on the menu. I have tried different types of dosas, idlis and rice dishes here. All of them are delicious. The best part is the unlimited sambhar and chutneys. Do visit if you are in a mood for a South Indian treat.

This is one of the place I would recommend for a friend who wants to try South Indian food/cousine. The food tastes good. It's slightly modified to suit the Mumbaikar taste buds, but overall a place that's worth to visit. You can take your veg friends here and go mostly in group of 4-6. Some times it get very crowded so better you come in little early.

Awesome place, located near ISKON Temple, Juhu, this place served good South Indian Dishes. Key Takeaways: Parking - Available but limited to around 8 to 12 cars, can park at iskon also where there is ample parking, still Sunday's could be a challenge. On the ground floor hence suitable for old aged also. Food was fantastic. We visited on a Sunday Lunch so according to the Rush the food was fair enough and did justice to its reputation. On Sundays either reach early or be prepared to wait for an hour. Service was fast Overall satisfactory and justice to its hype Cost for 2 - 750 to 1000

Was here on a Sunday morning, it was crowded and had to wait for around 30 minutes, but yeah the wait was worth it!! Full marks for the vast menu, taste, service, ambience and quantity. But coming from Bengaluru, found the pricing to be very high :) But yeah no complaints, surely a must visit if you are around this area.

Juhu’s first South Indian restaurant so it’s bound to be super crowded. It’s not that big too. If you go post 6.30-7pm for dinner and post 12 noon for lunch you will have a LoNG wait time. Now it’s open for breakfast too on all days. They have a unique taste of sambhar which is liked by some and not liked by others so I can’t give above 4 stars. The variety of Idli, dosa, rice items are good. Waiters are quick. But overall as the place is small, if it’s peak time you will have to wait. They do have sharing table options if you want to opt for it.

This is definitely a great place for authentic South Indian food. Nestled in a building near ISKON temple at Juhu, the place offers great food. Have been here twice, there is always a waiting here. This time went for breakfast on a Sunday and waiting for 15-20 mins was there. Service - outstanding, Food - unmatched. Ambience is great too. Dakshinayan near Iskcon Temple at Juhu Beach offers a delightful South Indian culinary experience. The Rasam Wada is a must-try, with its perfect blend of tanginess and spice. The Tatte Idli is another highlight, featuring fluffy idlis served in an appealing tatte (plate). Complement your meal with their refreshing fresh sugarcane juice, a perfect thirst-quencher. The ambiance is serene, enhancing the overall dining experience. The attentive staff and clean surroundings add to the restaurant's charm. Dakshinayan is a fantastic choice for South Indian cuisine enthusiasts seeking authentic flavors by Juhu Beach.

Located in the opposite lane of Iskon temple, Ville parle. This restaurant has good ambience and after Covid-19 , they have taken good care of the cleanliness. They clean the dinning area after every family leaves the area. They provide good service to the customers and anticipate well about the needs of the customers. They have menu stuck on every table so that there is social distancing followed. Good food at good price with authenticity

Awesome place, polite n courteous staff and delicious authentic south Indian finger licking food. We ordered their speciality dishes like paper dosa n Malgopudi Idli which were prepared in desi ghee, Nei Idli for kiddo (prepared in butter) and last special filter coffee. All in all a magnificent meal. Only think to be kept in mind is they usually have 30-45 mins waiting period during weekends so reach there accordingly.

I and my friends recently visited Dakshinayan on Sunday for breakfast, luckily we got the car parking as well as table for our breakfast. We reached around 8.00am and most of the table were already reserved We ordered mini masala "jain" Idli coz one of our friend is pure jain 🥲 Me and my non jain buddy ordered onion uttapam with Chilli sprinkled on it,the taste was good enough, jain buddy ate "jain mysore sada" To end our breakfast I joined my jain buddy and we ordered one by two filter coffee and it was good, give it a try. And another buddy ordered butter milk While exiting from the hotel the watchman came near our car and was waiting for tip and we ended up giving him 💰🤑

Great place to enjoy south indian breakfast meals! I love their filter coffee, ghee dosa, Mysore masala dosa, and most of it. Most importantly it has a car parking area too! Nearby attractions are beach and Iskon temple. Adding a photo of a nearby landmark, a temple.

The food here is of authentic South Indian taste. The dosa, rasam vada and the sheera we had were all so delicious. You should definitely visit. Best time would be to visit for breakfast early morning before 9am on weekdays, so there’s no waiting. There’s parking inside the compound but it is very limited. Other option would be to park at ISKCON temple opp the restaurant.

Dakshinayan is the best place to have the best south Indian dishes. I have never had such good dosas and idlis before. We tried so many different types of idlis and dosas and rice purely made in ghee. It is very near to silver beach (ritumbhara college). Waiting time was almost an hour but it was worth it. All the south Indian dishes were so pure.

Dakshinayan is a South Indian restaurant in Juhu, Mumbai which has one of the best South Indian food in the city. The place is right opposite iskon temple and has parking available. The place has beautiful interior and lovely staff. The food was top notch and make you want to eat continuously. The dosa was crisp and tatti idli was a game changer. So if you are around and want to eat South Indian than this is your place.

South Indian food doesn't get better than this.....i usually don't like to wait for eating food....but this 1 hour wait was actually worth it..... food and service both are awesome.... limited parking available....i could have given 5 stars.....but gave 4 stars due to the fact that we had to wait for almost an hour....the guy at the door didn't do a good job in letting us know that our table is ready....

  • 3/5 Sumit G. 3 years ago on Google
Fairly ok place as against the super amazing reviews we got from them online. I am sure for the money they charge, they can do not a major major upgrade to the place starting from the interiors which clearly has aged. The food menu is also fairly ok-ish as the same now seems a standard at almost every other south indian joint including the stalls near bhavans college, so need a rejig.

Molgapodi Idli : One of their most recommended dishes, mini idlis tossed in spicy molgapodi powder, with an addition of freshly made ghee. Must try! ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Appam with Stew : Steamed rice pancakes served with a mild coconut based stew. Slightly disappointed with this dish, the stew was too bland with a weird sweet flavor. Not recommended. ⭐⭐️⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Ulundu Vadai : Can you do without a plate of medu vada when you walk into a South Indian restaurant? ⭐⭐⭐️⭐⠀⠀⠀

We'd ordered quite a few items on the menu... idli s, vada, apam with stew, mysore masala dosa, paper dosa, regular masala dosa, onion and green chili uttapam, onion and tomato uttapam, mini butter idli, raggi masala dosa, rasam, faluda, pineapple halwa, filter coffee...OMG... not a bite wasted even with so much food. Just goes to show how awesome it all tasted.

We went there, but no one is there to assist, people waiting for hours, and inside some people just orders coffee/ tea and talking on the phones for just time pass, atleast the waiters should make them busy and and tell those customers who are are time passing to leave and say people are waiting. Some initiative should taken by the authorities or owners of this hotel. So that people can enjoy the food much waiting,. Very poor management

Decent experience at this south Indian Joint. Ordered Rawa masala and plain dosa. The Rawa masala was as crispy as it should be, the plain dosa was good too. The sambar was hot and delicious, you can have extra, they come and serve you without asking for it. The highlight of the meal were the chutneys. Normally you get a normal white chutney but this place serves you two more, one tomato and other garlic, they give you two bowls full of them you can have as much as you want.A little bit priced then normal but it's totally worth it.

Dakshinayan is a go to place if you want to have a good filter copy in the breakfast, delicious masala dosa for lunch & oothapams with variety of dessert for dinner. We tried many things out of which my favourite and must try was 1. Minni idlis seasoned with gun powder 2. Ghee roast masala dosa 3. Garlic masala dosa 4. And not to miss their butter milk & filter coffee Pocket friendly place. Try to go early as there is a waiting post 11am till noon!

Situated right next to Isckon temple in Juhu and very nearby to Juhu beach. A bit of costly outlet but personally I will not complain about same. Coz they serve very yummy south Indian cusines. We ordered mulgapodi idli, onion uttapam, Mysore sada dosa and ofcourse infamous filter kappi 😋. If you are planning to visit here on Sunday then reach there latest by 8-8.30 in the morning otherwise you have to wait for quite a bit for your turn

Traditional taste. Still going strong. Simply wonderful place to be at. Remember they don't take reservations as they usually have big crowds already waiting to get in. So be prepared to wait. But trust me, it's worth the wait. Always.

Great taste. Mix of all South Indian cuisines. Reach before 8am for a spot without waiting outside. Limited parking slots. 3 mins walk from beach. Right opposite ISKCON temple.

This place *reminds me of the real home food type South Indian restaurants* of the yesteryears. Possibly what's happened to the rest of the "udupi" restaurants in the city further accentuates the impression Dakshinayan has on your experience. Highly recommended for *TOP QUALITY* South Indian 'tiffin' items. Their philosophy towards chutneys and sambar tilts to the generous side. Great care is taken to give you that nourishing experience. On the down side, the air-conditioning can hit a couple of people on the head, just saying so you know it's not Shangri-la. And yes, very clean wash rooms just outside. (Like GST, restaurants should be allowed to charge ₹1 on every bill just for upkeep of the washrooms, then maybe this country will change) #HighlyRecommended

Great food, budget friendly and clean, but don't expect it to be dine in feel. It's a typical canteen style place. Come here to enjoy a good south Indian meal without any pomp and show

Visited this place recently to have Breakfast. It was a superb experience. The staff is professional. The ambience is just perfect. Liked the seating arrangements in the restaurant. The tables are very well placed and arranged. The place is spacious. Now talking about the food, the food was served piping hot. We had Idli, MEDU Vada, Dosa. Everything was delicious. Also, they had served different types of chutneys with the Dosa which were very tasty. This is one of the best places in Mumbai to have South Indian food.

This is the place for South Indian Cuisine. The Staff was friendly and were ready to help. The service is quick. The place is generally full, so be ready to wait a little before your meals. The Sambar and chutney were tasty. We enjoyed eating their Cheese Spring Dosa. Paniyaram was also good. Spicy Pepper Dosa was just ok..You can choose to skip it. The Gulab Jamuns were delicious and a must have. The sweetness was well balanced. Raca Kesari sheera was a little bland. The sweetness was less, it may be a good option for people who eat less sugar. We have heard that their Rose Falooda is worth having. But as we were already full couldn't try this. The place is well maintained and even washrooms are clean. I would recommend visiting this place at least once.

Taste of food was fantastic, specially their sambar and tomato chutney. Staff were dressed in black shirt and lungi, giving proper south Indian vibe and the sittings were also wooden and classic. I would say the price was bit high w.r.t to quantity and dinning experience, it may be due to the location ( Juhu is expensive).

A good place with authentic taste but very little parking spaces and long wait times (at least when we visited on a Sunday). Service is appropriate (neither super fast, nor too slow). We had many things including mini masala idli, Utthapam, paper dosa, masala dosa, rava dosa etc. everything was good and no complaints. It’s quite expensive when we look at other South Indian restaurants. A dosa costs thrice as much as it would cost elsewhere.

The building of the restaurant is still under construction and there was a lot of waiting since it is close to the Juhu Beach. The food itself is great. Everything is on the pricier side, but it's tasty. The whole staff has a South Indian Tamil Themed costume and are friendly. The paper dosa is huge!
