I went to Shalimar restaurant on the last Sunday during Ramzan with very high expectations with my family, 5 of us. We were disappointed. The restaurant is easy to get to from Masjid Bunder Railway station or even CST. But the area is generally crowded and noisy. Not too pleasant. Being Ramzan, the waiting time was high but the staff were polite and helped us get a table. The tables however, were not clean. I had to request the attendant to wipe the tables, twice, as the surface had oil leftover and had become sticky. The staff taking orders seemed overwhelmed and they were not too keen on suggesting what we should have. They were like, 'Sab special hai'. Maybe they were tired. We ordered Paya soup, Chicken Manchow soup, Nalli Nihari, Rumali Roti and Mutton Biryani. Except for the Paya soup, everything else seemed average... Like something that you'd get anywhere in a Mughlai restaurant in the suburbs of Mumbai. In fact, I've had better Mughlai food in suburban Mumbai to be honest. We did not order more as the order took longer than 30 minutes and we were not happy with the food either. However, we ordered Egg Schezwan Fried Rice as we were hungry and topped it off with Shalimar Special Falooda, both of which were good. Maybe, it was Ramzan and due to the crowds, the service and quality was impacted. Will make a visit once again on a quiet weekend and hopefully, it'll be better.

After reading many good reviews and hundreds of recommendations i visited this place. And it ruined my expectations. The kabab from the starter was average at best. The biryani was of no taste. There were masalas and still bland, god knows they managed to do that. It was anything but not biryani . The mutton from nihari was tough and gave an odd aftertaste. It was a waste of money to visit this place.

I had visited a week ago. It is easily accessible from Masjid Bunder ( Koliwada ) railway station. It's serving since 1970. They are serving quality food. We had Chicken Dilruba, roti and Chicken Biryani in mail course. Main course was delicious and top of that Falooda was mouthwatering. We had Shahi Tukda, Shahi Firni, Shalimar special Royal Falooda & Roohfaza Falooda was great in taste. Servers were polite also floor manager was. Restrooms were clean. Ambience on ground and first floor was one of the taste. Pleasant experience! 😇

Just good for the behaviour of the staffs. I visited this place especially for biryani, so I tried chicken biryani and it was bland. Also, we've to order salad seperately for biryani which was a surprise to me lol. Very crowded place! Tandoori chicken and seekh kebab was tasty!

Ek baar toh yaha khaana banta hai boss!! If you ever happen to visit town do visit this super awesome restaurant❤ From the ambience to the food to the staff to the service everything was upto the mark. But yes it will surely dig a hole in your packet as dishes are a bit pricey and quantity is less as compared to the price however if you are a true foodie and runs behind the taste same like me then nothings gonna stop you🤣. Dishes to try: 1. Mutton biryani 2. Chicken tandoori 3. Mutton keema 4. Chicken crispy 5. Mutton khichda These dishes were honestly quite delectable, succulent, mouthwatering and soulfilling!!! Dishes not to try: 1. Chicken angara 2. Chicken fried rice- it was okayish you can try if you want to as taste differs from person to person. 3. Chicken shawarma

Good experience, place is good, food is as well really good! Loved all dishes that we had. We tried: 1. Paneer Chilli : Extremely delicious 🤤 Perfect ! 2. Chilli Chicken : crispy crust with soft chicken ❤️ 3. Chicken lollipops: Very Very tasty. Spicy! 4. Chicken Manchow Soup : Again a really well cooked soup. Speciality here was Mughlai cuisine, and specifically non veg dishes. As you enter you will get strong smell of non veg food bring served around you. So not recommended for veg people. And finding a parking space gives a hard time.

Um Visited this place in weekend, so much rush, after 45 minutes of waiting we finally got a table, so we were expecting good service and great food. Service was pretty disappointing. Food was not up to the mark . This place is way to overrated, during weekends especially people visit this place because it's famous, um not worth going. I'd rather suggest to go to some decent regular veg restaurant.

This is one of the best places in Mumbai for Mughlai food. It also has all the cuisines available. The food is delicious here and Paya soup, Raan biryani, Chicken Tikka biryani, Tandoori and Rose falooda are a must try. Seating is ample but there is always waiting on weekends. Absolutely recommended...

I went here after reading the reviews and popularity of this hotel. To be frank, this place and it's food is terrible. I ordered Tikka Biryani which cost 350 per plate, was served extremely oily and spicy. No raita alongside the Biryani. Quantity is very less compared to the price. Secondly the waiters are lazy, ask for tips and provide worst service. I personally don't recommend this place. No parking, No washroom, No AC. Pricing $$$.

A Mumbai trip is never complete without visiting Shalimar restaurant. Serves the best mughlai food. Usually packed but now they’ve expanded it. Ample of seating available. Quick service. Family restaurant. Definitely recommended.

My family and I always make it a point to visit this amazing restaurant whenever we are in the area. Since I was a small kid, we have been frequenting this place, and the taste is still the same. The ambience and aromas are nostalgic if you are in the same boat as me 😁 The food tastes unquestionably amazing. I wish the ambience could be better, especially in terms of better air conditioning and close proximity to other tables. But once you start stuffing your face with the chicken, you forget everything else. 😅

One of my must visited places whenever I travel to Mumbai. Huge sitting area, separated for bachelors and family as well, wide range of cuisine including veg and also non veg. Food quality is amazing, tastes good, quantity was a little less according to their pricing. The ambiance is good, but since it's a closed area, it can get a little loud on a crowded day. 3 star for service is because of the issue of online payment or using your card. Since they know they have network issues in that area, they should have at least 2 card reader machines, and the payment alone took up to 10 mins. I ordered butter chicken, which didn't taste like butter chicken, i would say more like a tomato gravy. Other than that, it's an amazing place, must visit atleast once.

Shalimar is one of the best restuarant in Masjid, they have lot of varities and especially famous for non-vegetarian foods. This place always remain full and during Eid days there won't be any seats are available. They have seperate snacks, juice counters and upper portion arranged for small and large group. I tried their biriyani, mutton chops, kebabs, brain fry, falooda, shahi tukda etc. All the items were delicious.

One of the best restaurants for family dining. We always visit here with family on festivals or any other celebration. Normally people use to sit and dine on table but now they have introduced tha bew concept of Dastarkhwan. Were they have created a private cabin for family dining where they have made beautiful sitting arrangements for family and friends. Where you get personal space really good for ladies. And the food we normally have is chicken thread crispy, tiranga platter, and desert they have special falooda , matka kulfi shahi tukda.

~Bҽαυƚιϝυʅ αɳԃ Tαʂƚყ~ In terms of appearance, there's no doubt that this restaurant is outstanding from others. Whereas talking about the food, it is Good. I had chicken biryani and gotta admit, though it wasn't THE BEST but neither it was worse. The chicken was well cooked and the spiciness was also well balanced. I liked it!

This is One of the budget luxurious restaurant in Mumbai I will recommend you to go their and get some tasty food with friends and family I orderd 1. Chicken boneless kepsa 2. Butter boneless chicken 3. Chicken cheese kebab All the 3 items are very tasty, and looking so delicious. In butter chicken, quantity of butter is perfectly added. The kebab was crispy and tasty too The kepsa quantity was not enough, it should be more If the kepsa quantity get ignored, then I will give this hotel 4 stars/ 5 stars They took too much long time to serve in table. Butt the wait for food is worth after you eat. Must visit with family and friends 1. Location :- 7/10 2. Quality :- 10/10 3. Quantity :- 9/10 4. Atmosphere :- 9/10 5. Ambience :- 10/10

Big resturant with fast food section and dine in section. Ac is not working well and in the dine in section. Urgent need for proper ventilation system because once I enter the smoke coming out of the grilled and spicy food was really bad and coughed alot trying to breathe properly. I preferred the opened fast food area at least there is good ventilation there. Food was good, chicken tikka was spicey and biryani mutton was good and meat is well cooked. Raita the mixed yogurt that normally comes with biryani was not that tastey. Overall, it's good food if you stay in fast food section.

One of the best restaurant in Mumbai to try if you are a foodie. You should try mutton dishes and mutton soup for sure. Chicken dishes are also very good and tasty. Restaurant opens at 8.30AM and closes near 12AM. You'll get room near the restaurant for normal rates. Public transport is also available to reach the hotel. We reached the restaurant at evening and had dinner from there. And tried mutton soup, mutton biriyani and mutton hungama sizzlers, mutton brain dishes and some drinks like falooda and pepsi. The restaurant is in located in very crowdy market and you have to park outside the restaurant This is one disadvantage of this place. So of you sre planning to visit the restaurant, try to avoid private cars and better park them on any other places.

This place serves the best Indian non-veg food and falooda. Try their mughlai as well as fast food. The restaurant staff is very polite and helpful. Even if it's a crowded weekend, they'll serve you with a smile (P.S. this place really gets crowded). They have a valet parking.

It's a one time must try. I tried chicken tikka masala, chicken kepsa, chicken tandoori and shawarma. Shawarma was pretty disappointing and costly. Costed me ₹145/-. Rest the other dishes were nice. Decent quantity but amazing taste. The ambience is very big and provide food to many people at once even when it's extremely crowded. Hygiene is well maintained and servicing is nice too. Might take a little time to serve your dish but overall experience was worth it. ❤

This place has deteriorated so quickly and so sudden, it leaves you disappointed. Was never a fan of the customer service here but the tasty snacks kept bringing me back here time and again. Once bustling 24/7, the buzz is gone and so is the taste. A burger (picture attached) I got packed was bad with a tasteless patty and badly cut large quantity of onions. I don’t know what has happened but it’s sad to see the condition of one of my favourite snack joint. Feels like the chef is changed. If yes, please bring him/her back.

A very very huge restaurant. From outside it doesn't looks so huge but once you enter inside one will literally get lost inside. There are lots of dining rooms and party halls as well. Can't guess correctly but approximately 300 people can accommodate inside at same time. Food quality is best, tandoor and chinese is best. Prices are bit high. But the ambience and comfort is next level.

One of the most famous restaurant in Mumbai. Located in perfect place on mohammad Ali road. Went there for lunch as were craving for authentic food. Seekh kebab- perfect mutton seekh kebab soft juicy meet and v good balancing of flavours. Was little salty though.(4.5/5) Sholey kebab- Chicken marinated in medium spicy marination and cooked to the perfection.(4/5) Asked for paya soup but they didn't have it. Nalli Nihari- v good portion size. But somehow we were not happy with consistency and taste of it. It was very thick and Nalli was not cooked fully. Some how I felt it should be more soft and well done.(3/5) Daal gosht- Good in taste but would prefer less daal and more meat in it.(4/5) Wheat Roti- just perfect Falooda- as we were really full so tried half portion which was not. More sweeter though.(4/5) In all we went we lot of expectations but some how it wasn't really wow. Was very average. Might be next time I will get better experience.

Shalimar is a true gem when it comes to mouthwatering Mughlai cuisine. I was introduced to this place by a friend who raved about their dishes, and we decided to try the famous butter chicken. It's safe to say that Shalimar lives up to its reputation when it comes to the food. The butter chicken might appear to be a smaller portion, but don't be fooled; the quantity is just right, and the quality is exceptional. The dish was a delightful blend of rich, creamy flavors that left me wanting more. I recommend pairing it with plain rice for the authentic experience. What pleasantly surprised me was the accompaniments – they served it with green chutney and schezwan sauce, and a generous garnish of crispy onions on top. These added elements provided a burst of complementary flavors that enhanced the dish. Shalimar's commitment to quality is evident in every bite. They use the finest ingredients and pay great attention to the meat's quality, making every dish a true treat for the taste buds. Despite the high quality, their prices are incredibly reasonable, which is a huge plus. So, if you're a food lover, make sure to visit Shalimar with friends or family and bring a hearty appetite. You won't be disappointed. The food here is the star of the show, and it's an experience you'll want to savor again and again

We ordered quite a lot of food. One of them was butter chicken I don't think it was made the authentic way. The tandoori platter could have more quantity for the price. When it comes to price it was on the higher end for the ambience. I can say there are many other restaurants for cheaper price and good ambience.

The food taste does not live up to the hype of "khau gali". Waiters are arrogant not very welcoming. The only exceptional dish on the menu is the Pizza Shawarma. Overall , if you are looking for the authentic "town side mughai food" experience in Mumbai I would not recommend this place.

They should learn how to value their customers by respectfully serving them & by attending them politely. Yes the food is very good but service is poor. Interior is very nice. Do try ones.

Awesome experience, I have been going to Shalimar since I was a kid we called it Badi Plate which means big plate which is their logo. Frankly speaking after they had renovated a few years back the authentic taste of their mughlai food was lost in transition to modernisation. But to my surprise my recent visit has changed my perspective again. The food was awesome and finger licking good. I ordered Zafrani tikka which was tender, marinated to perfection, faultlessly seasoned, grilled to it's best and impeccably presented. Next was Chicken Charbaugh, not something to brag about just ok ok. The Veg Afgani was a showstopper it was rich, creamy and full of aroma. Butter nan and tandoori roti were good not overcooked, not burnt but crisp and complimented the main course. Last item food item was Chicken Biryani and again it was one of the best I had in recent times, the masala blended beautifully with soft rice and pieces of chicken. Last but not the least lunch cannot end without the iconic Shalimar falooda. It was really a great time spent with good food.

Know this restaurant since childhood one of a veryyyyy old restaurant in Mumbai Running by its name big restaurant with a biggest restaurant staff in Mumbai so they have to maintain, dishes are EXPENSIVE overpriced compare to other mughlai foods available in various parts of MUMBAI Don't expect wow or special Good Chinese dishes and other continental dishes Authentic dish like Mughlai are just average guys believe me normal chiliya restaurant will serve you much better than this restaurant just like normal dish you're eating at a normal Muslim run restaurant And one of worst falooda they serve Not worth going this restaurant In my view DELHI DARBAR ZAFAR BHAIS RESTAURANT AT GRANT ROAD HAS WORTHY AUTHENTIC MUGLAI DISHES

The classic falooda ! It's awesome and tastes the same over last 30 years... You can't get a better falooda in Mumbai... * The Baba falooda from Mahim too is awesome but it's a different type.. more eatable than drinkable.. it's a desert like falooda kulfi ... the shalimar falooda is a drink

This place is worst to eat food if ur ordering Chicken Biryani or Any biryani you wont get Raita along with it u have to order separately... in Other place like local hawking car people gives Raita free with Biryani cost 70 and that tastes best not much ghee not much oil. but in Shalimar the food is so much sticky and chicken biryani cost 325 and mutton cost 375 if ur giving raita separate than add its money with biryani why selling separate.. Food was also not tasty and table was not even clean seriously i m no one to take revenge for doing this comment if u dont believe than go and Experience it... Disaster no star for this Resto worst resto for family in Mumbai

the food is good but a little expensive i liked all the interiors and everything they were maintaning hygiene too.but the reasons I m giving this a hotel a 2 stars because of the staff there they were not rude but also not really welcoming they didn't have us enough time to order.thats the reason and they were really really impatient.this is all but the food there is really really good.

The Shalimar Restaurant at Mohammad Ali road. The food quality is really very delicious. They maintaining very good service for food and table services. Also they have lot's of food dishes options. Their Murg musalman is one of the best dish. Must to visit with family and friends. During these days in weekend's that place is very crowded for dinner. Make sure before coming take reserve the table.

I went here after hearing a lot about the restaurant from my friends and colleagues. I was excited to taste the food here. And as expected the food taste and quality is great but it's expensive according to the quantity of food. Also the staff is rude and careless. They will ignore you as if they don't need customers. Their behaviour is really disappointing. Ambience and atmosphere here is quite good. If you want to visit for good quality service then please look for some other restaurants.

Barbecued foods and biryani were good . The moxktails too sweet . In desserts DON'T order the Kunafa, it's horrible was a BIG letdown . As soon as it was in our mouths , we got a bitter taste and sense of presence of a milk product gone bad . The service : The captain didn't know about most of the items on the menu and kept pushing the expensive ones. The only savior was that we weren't charged for the kunafa . The server was rude , as if doing us a favor by serving us . Options for non vegetarians are a plenty but vegetarians and vegans will have very limited choice. Ambience : Is welcoming with a small fish pond ,having big colorful fish. Decor is pleasing , but seats are dirty .

i just absolutely love this place … their food is literally heavenly… i was longing to have their biryani and kebabs…. it is always pretty crowded too but we got a seat immediately…. there is huge seating area also although it may seem a bit compact…. i didnt find the falooda that great which is also apparently very wellknown… it is also an expensive place but worth the money

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shalimar Restaurant, a culinary haven for traditional flavors and the renowned falooda experience! 🌶️🍜 While the taste journey is nothing short of awesome, there are a few areas where enhancement could elevate the overall dining experience. The service, though sincere, showed room for improvement. A bit more attentiveness could add to the efficiency and charm of the dining affair. The heartwarming flavors deserve seamless service to match. Ambience, while steeped in tradition, could benefit from a touch of modernization. A subtle update to the interior and operational aspects could infuse a fresh vibrancy, appealing to a broader audience. In essence, Shalimar Restaurant stands as a culinary gem with a traditional soul. With a few tweaks, it has the potential to reach new heights while retaining its cherished authenticity. 🍽️🌟 #ShalimarRestaurant #CulinaryExperience
