A very good quality restaurant with good service. The meat is tender the portion sizes are enough (not overly large but enough). The drinks are fine with a good variety of non-alcoholic cocktails as well as some specialities. The quality of the cooking is great!!!!! I would rcpmmend the lamb and the lamb chops. The service is prompt and discreet it is definitely worth going here I would return if i am choosing a restaurant in Camden.

Excellent food, Kushi was amazing. Recommended the pav Bhaji fondue, great choice. Aloo tikki chaat was very tasty too. Palak paneer with garlic naan, good. Recommended, will return with a larger group to taste more from the menu. Thanks!

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Chai Thali restaurant in London, and I must say, it was quite disappointing. The food, touted as authentic Indian cuisine, was nothing more than ordinary. There was a severe lack of authenticity throughout the entire meal, starting with their so-called "thali," which turned out to be nothing short of a joke. The thali, which is supposed to be a grand feast showcasing a variety of dishes, was an utter disappointment. It consisted of just one curry and one daal, meagerly served in small bowls, accompanied by plain rice and a naan. It hardly resembled a thali at all. To make matters worse, the absence of a dessert was truly disheartening. Instead, they offered a meager portion of raita and a few tiny poppadums. It was the waiter's responsibility to have some presence of mind and guide us properly when we ordered a cup of raita for our biryani. She should have informed us that the thali already comes with raita that could be shared. Moreover, the waiter should have explicitly mentioned that the thali comes with a poppadum basket, as I had mistakenly ordered one separately as a starter. Who in their right mind would want to devour two baskets of poppadums? This lack of communication and clarity from the staff is truly disappointing. Moving on to the beverages, their signature Sin cocktails were even worse than the food. The selection was limited, and the drinks themselves were far from satisfying. The lack of creativity and quality in their cocktail offerings was truly disheartening. Although the atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and pleasant, it couldn't compensate for the poor quality of the food. As I sat there, I could distinctly smell the overpowering scent of burnt oil emanating from the poppadums and the fried okra. This clearly indicates a lack of attention to detail and a disregard for quality control in the kitchen. The overall food quality was simply subpar and left a bitter taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally. In conclusion, my experience at Chai Thali restaurant was far from enjoyable. The lack of authenticity, the disappointing thali, the miscommunication from the staff, the uninspiring cocktails, and the poor food quality all contributed to an underwhelming dining experience. I left the restaurant feeling thoroughly disappointed and with no intention of returning in the future.

Nice environment and decor. Starters were very tasty but the main course all tasted like the same spices were used for the different dishes. Everything was very sweet. If you like your dishes sweet then you’ll be fine. Otherwise it does get repetitive. Had to ask for 3 extra green chillis just to give the food a little kick. Food price generally expensive, was happy to pay the £20 service charge as waitress done a good job.

Highly recommend this hidden spot in Camden. The food was incredible and the service was so nice. I genuinely wanted to try the entire menu and I’m sure they would have let me. The garlic naan was amazing and partnered perfectly with the curry. The atmosphere was great to sit and chat as well. Will definitely be bringing more friends and family here when they come to visit.

I was quite disappointed with the overall taste of the dishes. The Mixed Grill was quite bland, and I didn't enjoy it. However, the chilli chicken had some nice flavors. The Papdi chaat was presented well and tasted delicious, thanks to the tamarind. The Karak chai was average and slightly on the colder side, but the biscuits were a nice addition. The atmosphere, interior, and staff were good.

It is located in one of the narrow alleys and away from all the busy spots. The food was good in general and chai was excellent. Not a bad choice if you near by to go and try some Indian cuisine.

Food was really good. Ambience also very nice. Staff also very friendly. But the food portions are very small. They have price for the fine dining and small portions.

The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly! I would highly recommend trying "SHAHI MATKA KULFI" for dessert, it's the best ice-cream I ever tried 😋. The food is Halal!

Chai Thali is a delightful culinary journey through India's diverse street food and mains. The eclectic atmosphere adds to the charm, while the staff, notably the friendly Gujarati girl, made our vegetarian dining experience exceptional. Her recommendations from the menu were spot-on. The array of drinks complemented the meal perfectly, making it a memorable and flavorful visit.

Great atmosphere and nice staff but tasteless food. People who have left good reviews here must have never had good Indian food, or been to India. The lamb kebabs were supposed to take us back to Chandni Chawk, but they took me back to my freezer from where I microwave frozen kebabs. The chicken in the butter chicken tasted like soya fillets out of a freezer bag, while we expected pieces of tandoori chicken as promised on the menu. Disappointed.

My husband treated me for my birthday today and we were both very impressed with not only the taste of the food but also the service and portion size. We had a mix of veg and non veg dishes and not one of them didn't please, the meat was tender and well seasoned and the vegetarian items were also seasoned very well. We had a booking for early evening so it was quiet when we got there but then as we were leaving it started to get busy Thanks for the great service and making my birthday meal a good one!

Food was good, presentation was nice, could have been a touch spicier in my opinion.. The service was really good, plates and empty glasses were cleared pretty much straight away and didn't take long to order.. We got mainly starters and deserts.

Amazing authentic experience. The restaurant is not on the busy city street unlike others but once you inside the vibe is totally different. They have nicely decorated and the food was just splendid. We ordered mostly starter and take biryani for parcel. Portion were also reasonable with the price and suffice for couple. We tried meetha pan and white chocolate samosa for dessert and couldn't get enough. All the item were made with so much detailing and love which you can feel in every bite. Highly Recommended !

Chai Thali is a personal favourite when it comes to more 'authentic' indian food. The flavours are great, the restaurant decor is so beautiful and the vibe is immaculate. The only thing I'd complain about is how small the portions are for how much they cost. That being said, it's still worth the trip :) (One of the photos shows my own plate, please dont be misled and think that's all they gave me haha)

Yummy to say the least. A place with a difference. Local flavour is created by naming the seating area with the ne of important cities of India . Befitting with the ne of the restaurant, kettles ( tea pots ) are kept at vantage points all over the place. All the items I had were truly delicious and carry a homely flavour. To top it all had tea which was marvellous.

To spend nearly £80 on food that is completely overhyped and overpriced. I went for the high chai and was absolutely disappointed to have paid so much for tasteless and overpriced food. The pokoras were excessively oily - our afternoon went, getting oil out with the tissue. The pani puri was full of salt and ruined the experience of having pani puri!! The halwa was absolutely tasteless and tasted NOTIING like halwa. I had to spit it out (how can someone get halwa so wrong). I work hard for my money and to waste and throw it on poor standard of food like this was really disheartening! Food bloggers need to be honest and stop overhyping these places! The place was empty and I wish I had followed my gut and read the room and walked out! I want my money back!!

Chai Thali is one of my favourite restaurants where I keep going back and back for more the food is very delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic and the staff are wonderful. This was my first time going for the Bollywood night it was a fantastic night and night atmosphere was very good I would like to recommend everybody to try out the Bollywood Night at Chai Thali. The waiter (PAYAL) that was serving as she was a fantastic person, Very professional and she was making sure the order was taken and the food was delivered on time did not need to wait for a long time.

A great experience. I went on a Saturday evening and the atmosphere was quiet with a low but friendly chatter. The seating is named after different areas in India. The food was lovely, I had the chicken biryani and okra which was delicious. However there was a time limit on the table which is helpful to know if you want to plan for dessert.

Absolutely fantastic experience and I cannot fault it. The restaurant is a great size, meaning that finding a table is easy. All the staff I spoke to were attentive and nice. There's a good selection of food on the menu, but it's not overwhelming. The prices are very fair, and the amount of food you get is great. The quality of the food is 5/5 and is the best Indian I've ever had. Will definitely be visiting more in the future.

A hidden gem indeed. The right atmosphere, music, interior decor is just superb. The outside is rightly welcoming. Food wise. Well what can I say. To start with, I have been to many Indian restaurants, very few are really good. But none of them come close to Chai Thali. The right amount of spices, well balanced, loads of flavour, just a wow factor. You will not get time to talk, just eat. Cocktails pack a punch as far as sin free cocktails go it is another world. We have been properly looked after and same goes for the other people which I did notice. It was tad difficult to fit the desert because the food was so filling and fulfilling. A well deserved 5 star.

Sensational - Really sophisticated yet true to the street flavours. Cobra beer - it's been a while since my last bottle of that - alas this was my first draft Cobra. It does come out very fresh! Excellent ambience with clever decor (look for the details!) and super nice staff. RECOMMENDED

All their dishes got authentic taste and the place reminded me of home. Their paneer is so soft and well cooked to make tikka without adding any artificial colours. The starters and chaat are well balanced with spice, sweet and tanginess. The bread and curries are definitely worth trying. I am going there again for sure to try the rest on the menu. Great ambience with good staff. With or without company it's a good place to hangout.
