Lovely local pub, excellent food. We ate from the lunchtime set menu which had a choice of two or three courses. The portions were substantial for lunch. Fresh and of good quality. Staff are friendly and pleasant.

I had an excellent meal at the Goffs at lunchtime on a Saturday. It was busy enough to have a good atmosphere without being too manic. The staff were friendly and informal whilst still being professional and efficient. The service was excellent. The choice and quality of the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. I don't live in the area now (the Goffs used to be my local, but not for some years now), but i will return when I am next visiting relatives in the area.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. Where to start? Disappointing experience. Very slow service. Waited an hour for starters and then about the same for mains. We didn’t have dessert, as we just couldn’t face the long wait. The place looks nice, but it is freezing cold inside. Staff were asked numerous times by our table and other tables if the heating would be put on. We wore our coats for the entire time we were there. Other diners were the same. For the price of the food, we expected better food. The food was ok. We paid the added on service charge, but it was a cheek to add this, as the service was ridiculously slow. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant based on this experience. Have been before in the past and it was good, so don’t know what has changed . To sum up- ok food, painfully slow service and uncomfortably cold building.

This is my third attempt to write the review but they seem to disappear. Well I can say after three attempts is this place is the place to go. The food was delicious and kept up to standard on each visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone as this is originally a recommendation from a colleague that I have thanks multiple times due to the service hospitality and delicious food. I would like to thank everyone from the bar staff, waiters, managers and most importantly to the chefs who work behind the scenes and most the time go un noticed. They are the ones make this delicious food, that I rave about non stop. thank you for making both my experiences amazing, welcoming and filling. The friends and family that I have brought here have all looked in their diaries to book another dinner out here. Like I said above I would recommend this to anyone that is looking to have a date night, a meal out or a spontaneous hungry person. Good food = happy people. This is only me second time visiting, but I plan on becoming a regular as I love good food. Thank you again to the whole team at the goffs oak for my wonderful experiences.

Delicious food, great service and beautifully decorated venue. Service was excellent, will be definitely coming back soon. I would highly recommend their Mediterranean meze, perfect sharing dish as a starter.

The Goffs Oak is one of my favourite pubs in the area. I went there for lunch today with a friend. As always, the food was good. We had the nourish bowl and roast celeriac for our mains and the apple and damson crumble with custard for dessert. The servers Jen and Mitch were friendly and polite. Happy customer!

I grew up in Goffs Oak so I've been visiting for a while now. We just love it, the decor is particularly splendid and this time we found the food was maybe EVEN nicer than our last visit (Jan 2023). Our waitress (Sammy?) was so helpful, competent and kind to us, it made the lunch even nicer to talk with her about mustard and stuff :). It was her first day too. I'd recommend the Goffs Oak to anyone. We live in France and my wife Anne is French but I think she prefers the G.O. to a lot of restaurants in France. Regards, Rich and Anne

Our Irish friend was visiting the area for the first time and I had a birthday week before that so she wanted to treat me. As we were escorted to the pre-booked table there was a puddle of water from the vase of flowers which they told us was from the new staff that broke it so we had to wait a bit to get it sorted. Food was delicious as always and the selection of drinks is great. The atmosphere is cosy, gives elegant vibes and modern design I like. We've been there many times but for some reason the service was not as timely as usual and it wasn't even that busy. We ordered food and drinks. The drinks took around 15min to arrive and the bottle of white wine was not inside a cooling bucket, which I also waited for another 10-12min and then went to the bar myself. The starters didn't take long to arrive after that. We were about 15min away from finishing them when the main course arrived so we had to eat it all in a rush so the mains wouldn't get too cold. The staff said they could keep them warm for us but that meant them drying out under a heat lamp. My friends had trio roasts which were great overall but the Yorkshire pudding was not as good as usual as it had a rubbery consistency and one of their crackling was crunchy where as the other one too chewy. There was an alarm that rang 3 times in a row and each time long enough to cause us thinking it was time to evacuate. Otherwise staff was lovely and smiley as always but not sure what had happened this visit. We also paid a substantial sum so it wasn't great to pay this much and not get a good service. Then we wanted to pay but we couldn't find anyone in sight for about 10min to come and take our money so we had to go to the bar.

This is my local. Recently revamped. Great menu, great food, great drink selection. A good vibe if you're planning to visit on a Friday or Saturday evening. Great for families, too.

The potential to be excellent is huge. We were let down by the service a couple of times and the food. But when they get it right it's one of the best Sunday roast around.

Such a lovely pub/restaurant, food is great but the service is so poor. The last 3 times we’ve eaten there, has been really disappointing. We probably would’ve given up after the first bad experience, but the food is really good. The service has to improve.

Our first visit with friends presented a mixed bag in respect to our experience. I booked on line for a table in the restaurant, however according to staff the system showed a booking for the bar area, and due to it being a busy Sunday before Xmas no chance of obtaining a table, not an ideal start. Whilst I appreciate that this venue is family friendly, there was lots of young children that were very noisy and some running around the bar and restaurant areas, combined with a table of men whom thought it was acceptable to shout, swear like troupers and basically had no respect for the other customers and children on the adjacent tables, eventually I am glad to report that staff asked them to leave. We had to change tables within the bar area on three occasions to accommodate the above, and the staff were very friendly and polite in this process. The food was delicious with generous sized portions, good selection of beverages and wine, although i thought the wines were slightly overpriced. Not the ambiance we had hoped for meeting up with special friends whom we had not seen for ages, maybe we were just unlucky on the day.

Visited at lunchtime with two friends. We all had different options & drinks. Each meal was great ( have experienced the same menu in another pub -presumably a chain with much poorer results). Pleasant decor & excellent staff. Would benefit from more parking.

Your beef was amazing although you were unable to fulfil the duo. For us all. However the person who got last portion had a bit of dry withered beef. BUT the others were all excellent Your staff were all efficient and charming. Helpful and thorough. Downside. was the service was so so slow. Constantly had chase as no cutlery for dessert and two hot pudding were cold.

Been here many times before and it’s always been great service and food. We’re coming for our Christmas party for our women’s football team - Goffs Oak Girls ladies . Around 20 of us are coming. We chose here because we’ve all been before and had a lovely time…..plus it’s our teams name-sake! Very much looking forward to it and Heather has been so helpful

New winter menu is delicious and fun. The staff at the Goffs pub are amazing. I've never seen staff,with such a good friendly vibe with each other. The attending manager Louise is brilliant. Unfortunately she had to deal with some rowdy customers. She certainly dealt with the issues promptly and professionally, She is certainly an asset to this pub.

Came in here for a bite to eat this evening. Love this place, come in quite often and service and food is always brilliant. Laura, Jordan and Ariane really looked after me and the manager Alex seemed to have a real hands on and team focused approach to how things are ran. Would 100% recommend to anyone. Thank you guys for a lovely meal.

Fabulous lunch! Had a craving for pasta and their king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine certainly filled it. My partner ate the dirty burger and absolutely loved it. The gravy was perfect for dunking the burger in, maybe a wider dish next time? Even made room to share a dessert, something we'd never had before but thoroughly enjoyed.

We held our Son’s christening party at The Goffs Oak pub and so pleased we did! Jansen and the team were so helpful throughout, even helped decorate our area for us. The food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble! Thank you! X

Utterly fabulous food; every dish was SO scrumptious, and beautifully presented (can someone please compliment the chef for us). The steak may well be the best I have ever had! The cocktails were yummy (and pretty), and the service friendly, helpful, efficient – without being obtrusive. The atmosphere was relaxed, warm, welcoming, and with a feeling of having your own little nook in an open and spacious maze of nooks and spaces. I loved the lighting, and the old leather looking sofas for those having a drink. We ate inside not out, but I had a peek and the garden looked lovely too. Thank you for a wonderful dinner with great service in a very pretty place. (Good parking too!)

I went for Sunday roast dinner unfortunately the kitchen had closed but the staff pulled all the strings and offered me some soup, it was very tasty I really enjoyed and their crispy Squid is yummy. Excellent service

A fabulous meal as always. The beef dripping gravy is to die for! We also tried the spicy coconut curry which was full of awesome flavours. The pub is looking great after it’s recent refurbishment and i would def recommend to anyone

My partner and I had a lovely meal at the Goffs Oak pub today and the food was delicious. I wanted to leave a review because our waitress was absolutely lovely and very friendly and welcoming, she had short blonde hair, I think her name may have been Jean but I can’t be sure. She made us feel very well looked after and comfortable and she was very smiley and in good spirits.

Everyone of your team is incredible. Provided amazing service! We had the back room for our registry and just everything was perfect! Thank you so much to all the team at the goffs for being so kind and helpful with absolutely everything! I would recommend the goffs to everyone as it’s beautiful inside and out! The Sunday Lunch we had today was excellent. I had Roast Beef which was perfectly cooked and my husband had Roast Chicken which was just as good. We also had a yummy Apple Crumble with custard with lots of apples (perfect). The service was very good professional but friendly too. The pub has a good atmosphere and lovely decor. Good selection of food. The brie bites are yum!!!! Very generous portions you will leave stuffed. The staff do an incredible job, but wanted to highlight the wonderful service I received by Natasha. Always serves in a timely manner and does it with a big smile on her face. This has happened on a few occasions when going to this pub. Keep up the good work Natasha.

The food was tasty and well cooked. The service was just great, with good timing between courses. The parmesan was missing from my Caesar salad, but I only twigged half way through it and didn't complain - I did mention it to the waitress and reduced the gratuity by £5.00 from what I would normally have tipped. I did think it odd that tables were filled by placing guests next to each other when the bar only had a few tables occupied. In my experience, they're usually spread until there are no spaces. I have recommended the restaurant already to my colleagues.

Decided to pop over for Sunday lunch with the family, best decision ever!! Food was great. We just wanted to say a big thank you to Heather, our waitress. Although it was very busy and there was a little wait between courses the service was great and with a smile too 😀

Me and a few friends popped in for lunch and it was really busy for a Monday, however our waitress Heather was amazing with her service and did her best to deal with us as timely as possible despite this. She also reminded us of a voucher that had been sent out to customers so we were able to use it with our meal. I would definitely recommend anyone coming here as the staff and food are great. This was my first time coming as my friend is a regular here and I will definitely be returning.

It was nice experience, very quite! We enjoyed all the food except I will say the salad we both ordered was a lot smaller than when I’ve previously had it. Also not enough avocado

Came in for dinner with my family before I go back for university and even though it was very busy everyone was super friendly and had a great atmosphere, Chris the manger was lovely and was quick to answer our questions. Imogen, our waitress was lovely, super friendly and attentive. She helped us with our order and made sure everything was to our liking. Been here a few times and this is definitely the best experience I've ever had. Word.
