The Horniman is a great historical pub place 👌. Their traditional fish and chips are very popular and have excellent taste. The location is at Thames Side. There is an outdoor seating area. Little bit pricey, but they give you a very quality service.

I love this place! The berry cider I drank was easily the absolute best cider I have ever drank in my life. No exaggeration, just my honest opinion. The appetizers were so delicious. There was some kind of Jam that came with the fried Mac n Cheese balls. So good. The people were friendly, the location is amazing, and the prices are affordable. I highly recommend stopping for a drink there if you are going to do some sightseeing around London!

Great pub, fantastic location right on the Thames, 2 mins walk from London Bridge Station. There is a fair bit of outside seating, but it wasn't the weather when we visited. Their pies are amazing, probably the best steak pie I've ever had!! Great décor, clean, and plenty of staff, who maybe need to just smile a bit 😀 Overall, I would definitely recommend this pub.

The place is very nice, this slew of varieties of beers are fantastic. The food is good, the place is fantastic near the Tower Bridge and has a nice view, they have lots of covered seats outside and they also have a lot of space inside, plus inside in some places they have a USB connection. We we sat outside so I asked if I could leave my phone charging. We didn't find the table clean, I asked a waiter if he could kindly clean the table for us, he did so immediately. Unfortunately it remained sticky, as if they had passed a raincoat on the wood, and they don't put any placemats, so the sticky table was a bit unpleasant. There is the QR code which is now fashionable to see the menu, but I preferred to go to the cashier and talk to one of them because I wanted more information about what we had chosen, he was very kind in explaining everything to me I asked him. He immediately put the drink on a tray for me and I had to bring it to the table, I felt like a waitress, I didn't like it. Apart from these small unwanted details, I highly recommend the place

My husband's favourite pub. They have very interesting beers and they can recommend you one if you're not sure what to order. I had some issues with understanding each other with the bartender but he was incredibly helpful and everything went smoothly in the end (we wanted to change the table but didn't know the initial table number and that caused some confusions). The staff working there seems to be qualified - I saw that they spotted a phone left on the table and they immediately asked the owner to take it (so that it is not stolen). Food is delicious and the plates are quite big. I recommend oceanic fish and chips.

The patio and view second to none. The food? Best meat pie I had in London. The service? I left my backpack by mistake, realized half an hour later and returned. They had it behind the bar waiting for me. I had money and valuables in it but they were untouched. I love this place

Honestly, this was one of the most disappointing Christmas dinners I've had. The fact that we weren't warned about the plates being hot was rather foreboding in retrospect. The food wasn't particularly hot, as though it had been waiting to be served with everybody else's food. The turkey was OK but the single pig in a blanket was stingy and the carrots were nigh-on inedible as they were so tough and insipid. My starter wasn't hot either. The toilets were clean and seemed well maintained so that's perhaps one strong positive. Considering the expense of the food and that there was a compulsory service charge, this was a major letdown and frankly, I expected more from Nicholson's. I can say I'd care to go to the Horniman again.

Arrived around 8pm and it was busy. We sat ourselves at our table and ordered online. Food took awhile to come. Ordered three pies. Steak and Nicholson ale pie was great as was the Chicken and Mushroom pie. The lentil cottage pie was a little disappointed as the portion was a tad small. Still tasted good. Service is basic as there is minimal interaction. We wanted to take out a dish for our kid at home but they were not able to accommodate.

We came in to try the traditional fish and chips. We came in during a busy time so we got a spot near the kitchen, there were no waiters to take your order because you had to order and pay online. The food was okay, nothing special but okay.

Was my second time there and was just as good. Great spot and wonderful food and beers to enjoy. Would go back. The Halomi fries are great and so are the pies.

Krasser Pub mit sehr freundlichem Personal, teilweise von Hand gepumpten Bier (London Pride, The Old Peculier, etc.). Sehr zu empfehlen. Wir waren während unserer 3 Tage in London zwei Mal dort.

Very unpolite staff.... Especially the tall guy with the pony tail and beard...(manager)...he must take some customer service lessons...our food took 30 minutes for some of it to be served....after waiting for the 30 minutes half of the dishes were served...the starters came after we the food and after telling them a few times that were missing... ordered beers and 20 minutes after not receiving them we walked to the bar to ask for them and with a very rude manner the manager told me he never got the order which we had to place through their app...when i showed him the order confirmation he was rudely insisting that he never got it and he cannot serve if he doesn't have it...when showing him again the order on the app he insisted it's not their mistake and he didn't get it...very rudely he insisted that was not his fault and not the apps fault....finally 30 minutes later we were served...

Excellent food! I got the steak and Nicholson's pale ale pie. It was absolutely delicious. On mother's day it was one of the only places I could find without reservation. It was cold outside but the heat lamps were sufficient. Nice atmosphere inside! Right next to the HMS Belfast.

Some friends & I stayed there from late afternoon to evening to enjoy summer wind&sunshine of London. Their outdoor area is beside Thames so very pleased to view, local berry cider is very tasty. I ordered Ocean fish & chips and it is pretty good, but the fries coming with my friend’s burger is not as good as the triple chips I ordered, a bit dry. Also we found if ordering wine through the barcode, they only have bottle option? Weird.

Great place, beautiful views of Tower Bridge/Battleship etc and good selection of food too! Ordered few starters seafood platter and nachos. Sanitizers and they do have a good hygiene. This time of the year with Christmas decorations and festive season kicking in, it was just lovely. Hayes galleria is a hidden gem! Heaters on on a chilly evening made it comfortable and cosy. Walk along Thames Riverside definitely worth giving a go! Staff are also very friendly. Suggested by a colleague for a 10 year's reunion. Would definitely be back!

Good food but slow service. Fish and chips were good but not the best. More expensive than in other restaurants. The service was exceptionally slow - it took 40 minutes to receive our food.

Recommend the place! You just need to find a table on the terrace, and the menu, ordering and payment can be done online. Yes, you also have the alternative to go in the pub, and browse menus, order, and pay cash. Cheeseburgers for the kids were well cooked, and really tasty. Fish&chips (ocean fish) again really tasty. The view from the terrace is awesome.

Shockingly disappointed! This place has changed for the worse since post pandemic reopening. We managed to get a table outside and used the app to order. We ordered a sharing pattern which sounded lovely on the menu.... we got something .... hmmm... don't even know how to describe it- totally burn and probably fried fir the third time chicken, cheese balls falling apart as if the were just defrosted and pity couple of slices of burn chorizo.... Two stars only for the servers, who albeit very slow and looking like they hate their job, did bring us water, extra plates and cleaned the table when we asked for it....

Pub in a lovely location on the river and very nice inside too. Food is rather good. I went for a Burns night supper and liked the food even though one of my dishes was wrong so had to send it back but got the right dish in the end

I have been here a couple of times and loved it both times. This is a very central and lively pub in London. This place is literally opposite HMS Belfast and this is how I first discovered it in 2019. The selection of beers on tap is good with some unusual local beers. There is a reasonable menu and if you only need a light bite, then there is "Bar Food" available. Personally, I bought a berry cider and squid from the "Bar Food" menu, on the wall. Both beer and food were of the highest quality.

Good atmosphere, service and nice outdoor area by the river. Not bad for a chain pub! Food was pretty reasonable, but charging £3.10 for a soda water from the mixer tap is absolutely extortionate!

Very nice little pub with outside seating right next to the Themse. Food is pricey and beer starts at ~£5/pint. Chips and calamari were crispy and tasted fresh. Staff was friendly and table was served quickly. Ordering by app possible.

Great traditional pub in an amazing setting by the Riverside with incredible views over the London skyline and tower bridge etc. Good staff, prompt and friendly. Reasonable drink selection and food good. The location and views make this place special though! In a nice arcade type place with lovely architecture too.

My husband used to work over there loooong time ago so we decided to visit. Terrible service, constantly asking to do something(clean the table, not to have ice when ordered without and got a drink with, cutlery etc) and the prices!?!?!?! For a pub quality I was shocked I paid £11 for large glass of wine. I can't remember but I think it was £13 for average nachos! Very disappointed. And please do not order fried calamari 🤢

The food was tasty, and they were one of the few places with outside seating active. Food and drink could be ordered by app or from the waiting staff. The staff were helpful. Would be 5* if the drinks order (made by app) hadn't been messed up.

As we casually strolled by this London pub, the captivating ambiance drew us in, and we found ourselves reluctant to leave. The atmosphere was vibrant, creating a lively and enjoyable experience. The service provided was top-notch, adding to the overall positive impression. Although we weren’t particularly hungry and didn’t sample the food, the dishes on adjacent tables were visually appealing, hinting at a delightful culinary offering. Without a doubt, we highly recommend this pub for a memorable and enjoyable time.

Great place, can’t wait to go back again when sitting inside is allowed. The open tables have a fantastic view, the beer prices are fair and the staff is very kind. The food is very tasty I well, overall one of top pub visits in England!

Best place as a bar to spend an evening on Thames river bank.... Near tower bridge... good range of food with wide variety of spirits...also they have outdoor sitting arrangements with view of tower bridge which is awesome...

Excellent location we sat outside near the river over looking the tower bridge. The food was excellent too i ordered toad in the hole while my husband had Steak and Nicholson’s pale ale pie both very tasty and decent amount of portion. Over all great experience and good value for money.

Ideal for a quick bite before hopping on the train to the airport from London Bridge or Liverpool Street or simply before getting on the train in London bridge which is 3 min walk away. Been here for Sunday roast too but that wasn't the best, I rather prefer it only for bar drinks. It's just a walk away to Tower Bridge too. It's by the river and the interior is very nice traditional of an old pub

I would like to give five stars for the location and the environment but I was disappointed from the service. The place is good for drinks. Avoid to order snacks, as they need time to be prepared. We ordered two snacks, boneless chicken bites and pork & gooseberry sausage rolls, we got them after 30 minutes and the place wasn’t so crowded to justify the delay.

  • 4/5 Kevin L. 1 year ago on Google
Arrived at 19:00 with a group of 23 which had pre booked our table and menu meals. The place was jam packed full on the Wednesday. The buzz inside was immense. If you are looking for a quiet meal, this is not your space. It’s vibe is busy, buzzy and a constant murmur of conversation. Lots of younger generation (25 to 35) about. Food was Ok and I think the kitchen was under pressure. Some folks in our party had to wait at least 10min before their dishes came through. The brisket was something different and my schnitzel was pretty standard. Both were a little on the oily side. The pie’s seemed fine. The apple crumbled looked stunning. Taste was relatively good, but the filling was slightly scarce and could do with more cinnamon. The chocolate brownie was very dense, I mean very dense. Could do with a lighter version allowing for a little more moisture and gooeyness The wine was great 👍:. Waiters were stretched and more attention could be paid to the table service like pouring wine and keeping water jugs full. Should not need to be called for refills.
