Popularly known as Chowpatty, the beach is located in southern Mumbai along the western railway route. This small sandy beach is a popular place to chill, and a must visit for all tourists who visit Marine Drive for the first time. At night, the beach appears to look like a colourful fair. Children from all age groups rush to ride the Ferris wheel and merry-go-rounds, while the adults indulge in the city's famous street snacks. Visitors also head to nearby attractions and local markets, to get the most out of their day out. Never is this beach empty or deserted. You will always find one or the other person here, lazing around on the beach; or children, lost in their world, blithely building sand castles along the shore. All in all, the Girgaum Chowpatty offers fun, frenzy and delights all rolled into one, and it is worth spending a few hours here to break free from the usually claustrophobic city.

One of the main attractions of mumbai to get here you can either use bus or local train. I used the train to get here from Dadar its just Twenty minutes journey. Its an awesome experience to see the coast lines and feel the sunset from there. Also the night view of here is mystical. Its very recommended place for tourist couples kids and all the type of people can enjoy this place. The place get busy in the morning and evening and also you could get a lot of snacks from there.

Usually Crowded during weekend. Parking is quite difficult. Beach is well managed by the authorities with regarding to cleanliness. Sea activities are also available like Boat ride ,, para sailing during evening hours before sunset at reasonable price. Lots of food vender available for eating.

First of all, it is Girgaon chowpatty not Girgaum chowpatty, not sure who has entered it wrongly on map. Clean beach, nice place for morning walk, running, kids play area and spend time in the evening. It also holds Mumbai's second viewing deck which is nice to visit.

Perfect place for a day out with kids. The BMC has worked hard to keep it clean. Many food stalls toward the south end (left side) with some amazing chaats, golas and ice creams! Also found some beautiful sea shells during my last visit.

I've been to Girgaum Chowpatty after many years but now it was Clean and food stall especially.. Food is awesome. We walked from Marines to Girgaum Chowpatty, it is approx 30-45 mins walk. But was worth it. Food stall few was good few are not.. Depends on your luck. But Gola is the BEST. I loved Kala khatta mix. On beach side to have yummy Gola in summer.. Best day spent. You'll feel to stay a bit longer.

Girgaon Chowpatty is a public beach along the Queen’s Necklace adjoining Marine Drive in the Girgaon area of Mumbai, India. It is served by the Charni Road railway station. The beach is noted for its Ganesh Visarjan celebrations when thousands of people from all over Mumbai and Pune come to immerse the idols of Lord Ganesh in the Arabian Sea. It is also one of the many places in the city where the 'Ram Leela' play is performed onstage every year. An effigy of Ravan erected on the sand is burnt at the end of the 10-day performance...

Girgaon Chowpatty is a beachfront in the South Mumbai Marine Drive area. This is one of the busiest beaches in Mumbai, but not clean. If we compare it with Juhu beach there is clearly a lack of cleanliness you can see. The water is not as clear as at Juhu Beach it seems very dirty. Unlike other beaches you can't fully enjoy here because of dirty water and a lot of waste comes in your way. The area is very good, you can say this one of the Posh localities of Mumbai city. The world famous Marine Drive is adjacent and it's hugely crowded all the time. If you are visiting Mumbai for the first time go to Girgaon Chowpatty just for a short visit do not try to bath there or go down in water.

Crowded irrespective of weekday or weekends. People do visit even after 9 o clock also. Its one of the oldest place in mumbai. Beach is not that clean .But its okey. You have so many food stalls where we can have all types of snacks , dosas, pizza, icecreams, kulfis, sandwiches. Am a chai lover and with difficulty found one tea shop inside the stall .Small cup costed 15 but tates good. All shops food taste different its better if you know a vendor. We tried from 3-4 shops the same paav baji and masala poori and very are worthless. But ya all the stalls are crowded.

It is kind of funny to even call it a beach. When comparing to the beaches I have been too, it is bantam sized. In the busiest city of the country, it good to have such outtakes every here and there to go and relax. The place remains heavily crowded through out the day. Do not even dare to bathe in the ocean or else you will be risking skin contamination because of the heavily polluted water.

One of the basic place to explore in Mumbai! Nothing much crazy except the sea ( Arabian Sea ) which is also not so clean. The place is always crowded with people, not much clean. The crowd is also local. You will find many food stalls also!

Place is okay to spend some time there during evening time. It's not a proper beach but who visiting Gaye way of India and also want to spend some time in marine drive and Girgaon Chowpatty is a fair deal as the place is nearby. Don't expect much, as the place is not very clean and you won't get any water sport here.

It's a beautiful beach. people come here for casual hangouts, for releasing there daily stress. A great place for tourists, both national and international. You can spot some international tourists hanging out on the beach. Taking a dive in the water is not recommended as it is not a very clean water and it can cause some difficulties if someone accidentally drank the sea water . overall a beautiful place to view Mumbai's coastline and the sight is even more beautiful during night

Nice place to enjoy weekend with Family. But saw lot of garbage this time that is hurtful. People should ensure that garbage thrown in dustbin and do not mess this beach. You get Chatai (Mat) at Rs. 30/- for unlimited time, so you enjoy sea view as long as you want. You can also visit Marine Drive "Queen's Necklace" near to this and Taraporwala Fish Aquarium. Nearest Railway Station is Marine Lines.

2 things people would probably think or hear from fans about when they visit girgaun chopatty 1. The beach the sand. 2. The eateries joint like badshah panipuri famous pawbhaji panwalas etc. The beach and sand, peace you will get here for sure. Nice place to visit. But the over hyped eateries at this place from basics as pan to pizza from pav bhaji to kulfi is just not even at average taste. Its a no no. A nice place to visit though.... sunsets sunrise awesome. Also just a view of the queens neclace (marine drive)

There are lot of eateries present here offering different local dishes and snack items such as chats, gola, Chinese items, pav bhaji, etc. Seating available at all these places. Crowded during evening times. There are hawkers who rent out mats for those who would like to relax on beachside. Parking also available but some restrictions present during evening time. Only con is not maintained well and litter present all around. Overall a must visit especially to try out the eateries.

. Chowpatty means “chau pati“ or "four channels". . What I read - In olden days, there were 4 channels/Creeks. . Presently a beach which is busy in the mornings & evenings. . Of course, there are enough & more for repeated visits. . Also, very much suitable for children . Sunsets are beautiful to capture. . Well, the beach looked dirty with Blak-Oil on thhe shore. . However, plastic menace was very low - appreciate frequent cleaning by authorities. . Somany eateries & hawkers - at very affordable prices.

This beach is so beautiful! The sand is very fine and soft. We went in monsoons and there was nobody on the beach. On the way though, you might encounter dogs that bark a lot. Just be a little careful and you’re good.

One of the best place to visit while traveling to Mumbai. It is located near to Marine Drive and Taraporevala Aquarium. The easiest way to reach this place is to take local to Charni Road Station. Best time to visit is in evening. It is recommended to bring your own food as the food available at stalls are quite expensive.

This place is very good for having fun. There are some issues while you are travelling to this beach. You know this is the last corner of ours so here our Mumbai ends. That's the reason this beach is so small even the parking is not available in front of beaches. Overall it's a clean beach. For having food you need to keep some hygiene because lots of people gather and eat the food at the time.
