I have visited the place 4 to 5 times before, and as usual this day also it was fully occupied. Had to wait nearly 5 to 10min to grab a table. They serve tasty South Indian delicacies like Dosa, Idly, Vada, Tea etc. Taste of these items are really amazing. They serve really quick and charge only a nominal rate. I used to have there jalebi, but on this visit I could not get the same. The place is really popular and near to Matunga Temple.

Visited this place in 2018. Amba bhavan has the Tastiest south Indian food around matunga. By far the best crispy ghee Rava dosa, rasam vada and mysore sada dosa are must try dishes from menu. Rasam vada was exceptionally soft yet tasty. Neer dosa was very nice. Place is pure south Indian brahmin eatery with no onion and garlic dishes mostly but onion uttapam is available. Sambar is a different , some may not like so much thick sambar. Chutney is great. Filter coffee famously called as "kapi" is a must before leaving. after enjoying so many dishes , we took a parcel of their signature sweet called "pan poli" which is made up of coconut, banana & jaggery filling. tasted yummy. sweet menu keeps changing daily. Overall it was an awesome experience to visit Amba bhavan coffee club. We couldn't resist to visit again and went next month too 😊

In morning, I was looking for a place to have breakfast. Suddenly, i passed this decent looking cafe/resturant. I orderd a masala dosa with filter coffee and pineapple sheera. And, oh my god, the food was yummy. Dosa was perfect in crisp and pineapple sheera was too good. But i would definitely reccomend them to improve the quality of Fiter coffee. The staff and the ambience was awsome. The vide was truely retro. I could feel that I've traveled back in time.

Love this place. Love the ambience. Has old world charm. I prefer this place over the much hyped restaurants/cafes located in the vicinity. Always finding excuses to delay work and get a chance to eat here. Big Fan. Thank you Sir for the warm service and amazing food.

Amba Bhavan Coffee Club in Matunga, the second oldest Udipi Restaurant in Mumbai, has been serving Pure Vegetarian fare for over 80 years. No fancy gimmicks here. Not the place, nor the presentation..but if one is looking for food closest to what is served at the Shri Krishna Temple in Udipi, specialy the Sambhar, you have come to the right place. Started by Shri Ragvendra Rao in 1935, today his son faithfully carries on this legacy of dishing out authentic South Indian meals at reasonable rates! Personal favourites- Maara Maari (upma sheera combo) followed by masala dosa or onion rawa masala dosa to be finaly washed down with hot filter coffee!

The most Amazing filter coffee of Matunga ( even better than cafe Madras ) in a cozy little place with truly authentic ambience of North Karnataka .. Do try podi dosa - crispy and tasty with podi And also onion rawa masala - just superb - from the heart of an udupi mommy

They also have some sweet vadas which is a speciality there!

Prefer this place against overcrowded south Indian hotels in vicinity. Nice and small south Indian restaurants with old touch. Limited menu, tasty food and also pocket friendly. Service is quick and generally no waiting time to get table. Also don't have to share the table with strangers like in other places

A super place near Matunga railway station to have South Indian breakfast. Opens at 7am but you'll get dosas post 8am. Vibe is of a proper Kanndiga hotel. Good taste and value for money. Don't miss out filter coffee as well.

One of the best and oldest restaurants situated on the highway of matunga. No fancy seating, very simple decent staff and ambience that believes in serving home style and wholesome food. Pipping hot and fresh. As they were not serving any kind of dosas on the day when we visited so can't say anything about it. But would highly recommend you to try their kadi vada it's the best i had till date 👍 Vada sambar was also good. Freshly brewed filter kaapi is a must try. Very reasonably priced..

Old world charm. Had coffee and medu wada. Their sambaar is not watery and has a strong heeng flavour. Plus the coconut chutney is better than that available in other nearby eateries.

This is one of the classic South Indian hotel with typical 1950s set up AS IS. I always intended but never got the chance before. As I visited first time, I ordered the default dish idli sambar. It might be a popular South Indian fiest hub. No offences. But some how my experience was not so cool. Sambar was sobber without any highs and lows. So much that my wifey couldn't even finish it. Tasteless is a bulky word, to describe. Coffee was great as usual. Okeish, I say.

A very few hotels open up early in Matunga and one being Amba Bhavan Coffee club. A small buzzing place with simple udupi style breakfast options, it’s heart warming. We stopped at 6.45a.m and with a few old men post walks, stopping by here for hot filter kaapi and idlis! The spongiest of idlis and sambar is to die for!! We also tried their puris, so good!! We missed out on dosa as they start a bit late on dosa. But this humble little place, nothing fancy, quick eat and go..Deserves a stop by all!

This is another gem serving authentic South Indian food. Had met friends over breakfast. We relished Pongal, idlis, adai dosa and filter coffee. Adai dosa is a must try. It's an healthy option too as it's made from a mixture of lentils.

AMBEY BHAVAN COFFEE CULTURE ♥️ if you love Southindian food you should come here for sure... one of the good Southindian resturant near king circle... they have free street parking outside so you just have to look for it.... the service is quite fast...and ⚠️sometimes the staffs are quite impatient while taking order... but the food tastes good... they have two space for sitting downstairs and upstairs....for going upstairs you have to use the steep staircase...and the space above is very less... the cost isn't too much and you get your stomach filled... you should try filter Coffee☕️... the ambiance is quite old and conjusted but food makes it up.... Over all it was Really Good ♥️

This is my first visit to Amba Bhavan matunga. Just yards away from Kochu Guruvayurappan temple at the entrance of Bhandarkar road this hotel is located. Called as one of the ancient restaurant of Mumbai, on weekdays they serve different menu while weekends have different menu. Bisibela bath is their speciality. I tasted sambhar vada, parcelled idly and vada separately. Tasted Ginger Lemon Kokum juice. A refreshing drink unique and must to taste in summer. Don’t miss this eatery place if you are visiting Matunga.

This is the old world charm with authentic South Indian cuisine in Matunga for more than 50 years. The filter coffee is a must try. I haven't tasted such amazing filter coffee , the composition of the coffee powder is truly unique to this place. Upma and sada dosa are my favourite dishes. It is open all days barring Thursday. The staff is courteous and the owner is sweet and chatty. A must visit with family and friends for breakfast , lunch and dinner and yes coffee.
