Mumbai’s first garden-under-flyover was finally inaugurated on Monday after the dedicated hard work of many Matunga residents. Named Nanalal D. Mehta Garden, it is located under the Tulpule Flyover on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. Soon after the flyover was made open to the public about four years ago, it started turning into a hangout zone for hawkers, gamblers, drug addicts, etc. It was then that the residents of Matunga took over the responsibility to prevent this from happening.

Idea of Government is really to be appreciated actually iam new to mumbai and i was excited that the government tried keep everything to be useful for the people. cleaning and maintenance is also great. I think people's shoul also have co-operate because where ever in Mumbai every corner you can see spitting of pan. its complete awkward thing.

Nice place to walk and sit. Mumbai corporation did a good job by using the empty space into a garden.

Loved the idea! Well maintained as well. The walk through under the bridge with pretty plants along the way. When the sudden blasts of Mumbai rains disrupt your plans, take shelter here with your friends. The place unofficially closes around 10pm, when guards asked us to move out.

Superb and beautiful utilisation of space under a flyover. Wish there were more such gardens under the flyovers in the city. The space under these structures is otherwise taken over or encroached upon by unused vehicles, squatters, vagrants and drug addicts. Such initiatives utilise these areas for much needed open spaces. However, I feel this garden needs open gyms for the health conscious.
