One of the best place in Colaba to have South Indian food. They serve all kind of veg dishes. One of the old restaurant in Colaba. Speciality in variety of Dosas, Idli vada, Upma etc. North Indian food is also available. They also provide home delivery other than Swiggy and Zomato. Must visit place. Food is tasty, cleanliness and hygiene is maintained. Separate AC section is also available. Staff is polite. Pure vegetarian restaurant. Pocket friendly. Per person food costs around 100-150 Rs. However idli is not available all the time.

A very nice place to get pure vegetarian Indian food in Mumbai. The tomato uthappam was very delicious, the strawberry Lassi was refreshing and yummy. Absolutely recommendable.

I don't know if I can judge on the basis of one dish I ate. But if I were to, then for me it was 50-50 kind of experience. They offered two sitting AC and Non AC. First of all AC one was very quiet and peaceful to have your food, but then suddenly it got crowded and some people were acting like it's their house, talking and chatting so loudly that one would be irritated within a minute. Now on food, I ordered idli wada and dosa. I only like wada and sambar, idli, chutney and dosa were not that good. I also had watermelon juice, it was like every other watermelon juice. Service was quick, and food was served hot and fresh. Prices are reasonable too.

For authentic South Indian taste, this is the place to be. The filter coffee is slightly more expensive compared to Mani's but the taste is equally satisfying.

A Madras Cafe that lives up to its name! Dropped by for lunch one afternoon. This place is a real hidden gem. Probably the only South Indian joint on Colaba Causeway. The Madras moniker is used to represent a pan-South Indian cuisine. Dishes served are mostly Bangalore based. We tried the Ghee Podi Idli, Mysore Masala Dosa and the Veg cutlet. Flavour wise, absolutely top notch, very reminiscent of Ramashraya in Matunga. The highlight of the meal, though was the Filter coffee which was brewed to perfection in true Tamil Style. Reminded me of the Kumbakonam degree filter coffee, of which, I’m a regular consumer. Service is fast and waiting staff are very polite and courteous, especially the one who served us. Overall, it was great eating experience! Highly recommended! Would definitely return if ever in the town area just for the Filter coffee!

Best budget restaurant in colaba area. We went for lunch and had dine in AC section. Food is very much tasty and everyone is happy with the quantity they served. As we said, they made it medium spicy. Service also very prompt. They had big delivery section and team is working well on time delivery for both dine in and delivery.

I came across this restaurant by happenstance and i must say they serve excellent food! A South Indian living in Chennai, i haven't had such a good vada in a long time. It was soft, tasty and super hot. The Idli + Sambar combo was also very good. Masala chai was the perfect end to my breakfast. I highly recommend this restaurant.

These chaps claim they are 49 year old restaurant. I ordered idlies parcel and they were of the consistency of a cricket ball. On enquiry they have the audacity to say that we were experimenting a new formula of making idly hence it was hard. I felt like a guinea pig being used for experimental trials.

If you are looking for South Indian food then you can get it here. The disappointing part is it does not have a washroom/toilet. Hence 3 stars.

This is one of the oldest South Indian breakfast place located in a very prime location of Colaba. The place has atleast been there for 50 yrs. They serve authentic breakfast items. Its a very small place in which they have an AC and non AC sections. The service was descent. The food tasted good. Chutney, Sambar etc had some amount of sweet in it, which may not be preferred to some. Dosa was great. Filter coffee was authentic. The prices were reasonable. They accept upi payment methods. Parking is not available. Overall a good experience.

One of the worst service I have ever seen I had ordered two things Matka mushroom paneer tikka masala they haven't said anything we were waiting for 30 minutes and after this so that they haven't gives Nan to eat sabji so for Nan I had to wait more then 10 minutes so almost I spent waiting 50 minutes here this restaurant is not for the Healthy lifestyle people, so don't go thinking like we will get varieties of things in this restaurant and I am giving this two stars only for because I have seen there fresh juice making machine so they provide you a fresh juice of orange and other fruits also so for that I am putting this two stars for this restaurant

It's an economy meal diner. You will get the value of money. Nothing very exotic but a budget friendly option for filling your tummy. South Indian options are good. Names in main course options may sound very alluring but stick with the common things like mix veg or dal fry only.

A very good place for South indian food. I really liked the sambhar. The north indian dishes have decent taste but not that great. Overall good

  • 1/5 Preethy R. 3 months ago on Google New
As a South Indian this was a super disappointing experience. Dosa was sweet, Sambhar was all water, chutney they gave only coconut chutney and maybe 2 tablespoon of it and it was tasteless. Medu Vada was thick, heavy, bland.. Filter coffee was ok-ok.

I have always loved the food here . They need to do something about the seating arrangement . Reasonably priced and quality of food is superb . Would like to request them to have a proper washroom in the restaurant as they don’t have one hence it becomes difficult to visit it as I don’t stay in the same vicinity
