Renovation company left my apartment in bad condition with paint splatters, holes in my ceiling, bugs in my windows, cuts in the floor, no backs to my cabinets so there's what appears to be a moldy wall, and the floor tile was done so poorly with many cracks and raised tiles. Overall it appears someone with 0 skills remodeled the apartment. No dishwasher, no garbage disposal, no microwave, even though the model unit showed a microwave. Stove was wobbling all over the place when I moved because the vinal flooring had a huge hole, making the floor eneven. Ceiling fan wasn't attached appropriately and is loud/wobbly. Was finally fixed after 4 months. Homeless and drug addicts hang by the church nearby every day throughout the summer. Had to call the cops on addicts outside my window fighting, playing music, and doing drugs. Paper thin walls and doors. If you want privacy, look elsewhere because you will absolutely be able to hear anyone's conversation through the door. I'm glad that I have quiet neighbors. The first several months were bad though, because one of my neighbors had a dog that would whine and pound on my neighbors door which echoed into my apartment sounding like someone was banging on the walls. Hot water and water pressure is inconsistent. No maintenance on-site on Sundays. There is no accessible way to find the emergency maintenance phone #, i had to call the leasing office and ask. Would have helped after my toilet was flushing for over 9 hours throughout the night non-stop. Elevators are horrible quality and incredibly slow and SMALL. If you decide to move here despite this review, make sure you measure the elevator. I'm grateful that I'm on the 3rd floor so I don't need to worry about the elevators that much. No dishwasher, so keep that in mind if you want to hand wash dishes with limited countertop space. Roaches everywhere on the first floor. Bike room is filled with HUNDREDS of dead cockroaches. I found one this month (October) that was dying in front of someone's apartment door. And find several crawling around the doorways of the 1st floor apartments. I found a roach in the laundry room. Speaking of the laundry room, it's adjacent to the garbage chute. Why is that important information? Because sometimes when you head towards the laundry room, you will get the unmistakable and putrid stench of trash that lingers in the hallway and laundry area. Washers are almost always disgusting. Littered with dog hair and other debris. As of 10/30, my faucet broke. It's so obvious that they cut corners on EVERYTHING they could. Paying 1400/mo for a 300sq ft studio with the most cheap appliances is a scam. Not to mention I'm paying 110/mo on utilities, so im paying for all of my utilities as well. $1510 for a cheaply remodeled apartment that constantly has problems. It constantly smells like sewage and trash in the ground floor near the packages and leasing office. The "security" guard, if youd call them that, who is tall and skinny, was literally sleeping at his desk and is often not even at the desk. I was working on getting a subletter, and I swear they purposely took their sweet time to process everything, not to mention how unorganized they are. My subletter was working with Sean, so he sent his docs to him, but he was out of office so couldn't complete anything. Instead of offering to handle it herself, Keyara said that we have to wait tomorrow because somehow Sean is the only person available that can process an application. What?! Then what is Keyara's job? Additionally, once we got to the lease, they took their sweet time getting it out to my subletter. Saying we would have to wait until tomorrow because Sean was busy with something. Note, there was 2 whole hours left of the day to complete a lease. I know it doesn't take that long because I used to be a leasing agent. It's unacceptable that Sean is apparently the only one that can process applications and lease contracts. What exactly are the other people's jobs then?

Good and safe location within walking distances of downtown Chicago and a number of grocery stores. Train station less than 5mins walk. Friendly staff and maintenance crew.

I'm new to the city, so I didn't know much about the area and turns out that the area is great; you find everything you need just a few steps away. The management is excellent and very attentive. The building is old but for the price you pay it is good.

This is a great place to live! I moved here without knowing the area too well for work from Michigan and it ended up being the most perfect location and community for me! Everyone is super helpful, kind, and respectful. The gym and rooftop are super amazing perks as well! Definitely live here if you are on the fence

Pros: Just moved in December 2022 and they were very accommodating with my move-in date. The heating has been great. I was worried since I moved here from the South about how warm my apartment would be since there are a lot of windows but the furnaces work great. When I have had maintenance issues they have been up within a few hours to fix them. Having free printing is GREAT. The workout room is hardly ever in use so I can do my yoga in peace. Plus the gym TV is always on Telemundo so I have been inadvertently learning Spanish - a useful skill. My apartment has a ton of natural light and my cat loves it. It's super close to the red line and all the fun of Old Town. Cons: The coffee machine is cool but every time I want to use it there's something wrong with it.

Great place to live. Stone's throw from the Clark/Division Red Line. Probably 10min walk from the beach. You have all the bars and restaurants of Old Town nearby as well as the Division Irish Pubs. The only true problem is the crack heads who linger around the park out front many nights of the summer. Suggest you get used to sleeping with ear plugs because they will wake you up. Otherwise this spot is basically perfect.

This has been my first month at the Oliver. It’s actually a pretty good value. I love our gym and staff is super helpful. Front desk helped me break down boxes and take out garbage, very much appreciated. Sean is quick at responding and following up if you have questions. I like the free coffee and snacks in front. I also love the pelotons in our gym. I give 4 stars because they allow pit bulls here. I love that they are animal friendly but that breed should be excluded for the safety of others pets. Other than that I love it!

I have been living in this apartment complex for over a year and I am very happy with my choice. The apartments are spacious, clean and well-maintained. The staff are friendly, helpful and responsive. They always go the extra mile to make sure I have everything I need. The best part is the location. It is walking distance from anything you could want! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to live.

I have had the BEST experience living at The Oliver! it is located in the perfect area, super easy walk to everything I need and conveniently close to public transit! The manager, Amanda, is super personable and made my move in experience very enjoyable, the entire team is very helpful! They also provide great amenities that make me feel like I am getting my monies worth! :) I especially love the views from the rooftop deck! I would recommend them to anyone in the area!

I moved here out of state about five months ago for my job and was not familiar with the area at all. The staff have been amazing in welcoming me and giving me recommendations for places to eat or go nearby. There's so many restaurants that I can walk to and pick up, and if I want to explore the city more, these apartments are super close to public transit so I can get deeper into the city. The rent is great for the location and customer service from the leasing office is priceless.

I moved in at the end of October…. Setting up a virtual tour to see my until and the community was a breeze. Everyone in the office was such a pleasure to work with! Since living here they staff has been so friendly and they always have fun events scheduled for the residents! The coffee bar in the lobby is also great for those early mornings! I would rate more stars if I could!!

I just moved in and my experience so far has been great! The staff is very friendly and the maintenance is quick and helpful. The location is perfect - right between Gold Coast and Old Town, so there are plenty of restaurants, bars and grocery stores nearby!
