My dog and I love Lakewood Dog Park. It has a lot to offer. You can walk through the woods or your dog can play in the wide open field in the entrance. The scenery is beautiful especially at sunrise and sunset.

This place is a god send. Acres of land to let the dog roam freely on nicely trimmed trials, or just sit back and let your dog play and socialize with every dog that enters the park. My little Sunshine loves it here.

Another *wonderful* Lake County Forest Preserve Dog Park! Tons of friendly dogs with a wide open grassy area to play. We loop around the grassy area with our pups and then walk through the wooded area with excellent paths and exploring for the dogs in the trees. Our dogs really love it here and whether your dog likes to run, play or explore this park has it all. One of our two dogs likes to swim - and this park doesn’t have water. But that’s ok. We have our favorite swimming park that’s a tad closer to us. Our second dog isn’t a fan of water one bit and is not to be trusted when it comes to ways to get around fencing - which is the downside for us to the parks with water we’ve been to. This park is fenced on all sides. And it’s dry (tho our water-loving monster did find one small trench of water today - in the entire park if there’s mud or water to jump in he *will* find it) while out regular park is full of mud puddles and trenches. We needed a break from cleaning him and the car. Lakewood, which is a little farther for us, turned out to be a perfect weekend solution. Our first visit was yesterday and we loved it so much we went back today. If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait a little bit for a parking space. It’s definitely worth it.

My dog absolutely adores this park! Every time we head there, his tail wags uncontrollably with excitement. The space is vast and well-maintained, allowing them to run freely and interact with other dogs. The shady spots and clean water stations show that the park truly considers our pets' needs. It's not just a playground for dogs but a social hub for them and their owners alike. Without a doubt, it's our go-to spot for outdoor fun!

This is the best dog park I have ever been to! Nicely kept paths with different areas for pups to play: open fields, prairie paths, woods! If you want a very happy dog, head on over. It's worth the admission.

This is a great place to bring your pup, lots of trails and room to roam. There's a wooded back area that gives a bit of shade for those looking for sanctuary from the sun. It can be muddy after a rainfall, best to come prepared with a towel to clean up your dog before loading up. Giving four stars instead of five because Ranger patrols are almost non existent and the lot will fill entirely up with vehicles without the required dog park sticker. On a nice weekend day you will literally be waiting in line for a parking spot.

Beautiful Dog Park that reminds me of California. The landscaping is lush. Our dog, Eileen, loves the tall grass and it's tiny critters so much, she hops! One particular hop was four feet, straight up! Next time, I will videotape it and post here.

10/10 recommend. Courteous dog owners! The place is 60+ acres fenced in with a TON of trails, both you and your pup will stay fit!! Absolutely incredible place. Definitely wear boots/old sneakers. Most paths are mulched, but in winter especially very soggy!

We love this park! It’s a bit of a drive from Chicago but it’s worth it, especially if you have the membership. Otherwise, you can pay for visit from your phone. We like this park due to the fact that there’s no river or lake access which is good when we want to keep the dogs dry. Note that near the entrance can be super muddy though.

Wonderful, clean, safe, HUGE, bathrooms available, bags for poop, nice clientele (dog and human). Prairie and forest. Great paths.. The nicest dog park I've seen.

This dog park is definitely one of our favs! Part of it is in the woods & the rest is in open fields. There's a lot of space for your doggies to have a great time & the people that visit here are always very nice! I've always had pleasant experiences here. It does get pretty busy on the weekends though & sometimes you have to wait for parking. However, I've never had to wait that long & it's definitely worth the possible 5-10min wait! The woods do get pretty muddy when it rains as well. All in all though, I would definitely recommend this dog park to anyone who has a furry friend big or small 😊

Extensive trails though woods and fields! The largest off leash dog park I’ve ever seen. Note: The only dog watering hole is up the hill behind the parking lot. Best place in Lake County to walk your dog off leash. Municipalities, the remainder of the Lake County Forest preserves and McHenry County Conservation District need to get with the program!! How hard is it to fence off part of your parks and make an off leash facility?? Why is this dog park the only one for miles in any direction?

This off leash park is awesome. Nice open fields and shaded trails in the woods. There is a fee to get in, but we'll worth it. Best part is: the whole thing is gated!

This is the best dog park in the area! It's huge and well maintained, with trails that go into the woods that you can walk through with your dog(s). The people that go here are always so friendly. There are park benches if you decide to bring lunch or snacks for a picnic with your pet, a gazebo in the middle of the park. I recommend to bring water and a bowl and don't leave your dog on it's leash!

I love this park, I've been going for years. Clean, well maintained, you can smell the wild flowers and fresh grass as you walk around. It's a pretty big park. Please consider adding few more picnic tables around the park to accommodate for older people that need to take more frequent breaks, thank you

Good trails for people and dogs. Only one sitting area for people. I noticed that older people had to turn around and couldn't continue the walk because it was to far or not enough bathroom. The one bathroom was by car parking. But by the time you walk around 66 acres the dogs are tired. Nice that they have drinking water bowl for dogs all over. But you should bring a gallon of water for the dogs. Balls can easily be lost in tall 4 feet grass. Some trails are muddy so use boots. I would like to return for this dog park. I could see horses liking it but only dogs allowed untill sunset. If u get locked inside gate after sunset you will have to call sheffic or police to let u out. I don't know if 4hey issues parking tickets for cars without parking permit.

The park is large in size and has a broad network of paths that is very enriching for dogs. From what I’ve noticed over the years, the pets that come to this park tend to be well trained and the owners are vigilant about keeping the space clear of dog waste. I’d say that, for dogs, it’s just about heaven on earth.

During the warmer months, please fill a water jug at the well and leave it around this huge completely-fenced park. Dogs and humans need water. (I don't know if the well water is okay for humans to drink, need to find out.) There's a tangle of narrow trails within the forest that I haven't mapped out yet. That's my next project. 😎

Love this place! So amazing it even exists. A huge forest preserve all fenced in with paths in the woods and a large field with paths. Fantastic place to take dogs off leash.

We take our dog here every day that weather permits. He loves it here. There's a big open space where dogs can play, a huge field area where you can take a long walk and let your dog sniff and run, and a wooded area to explore. This is a great place to let your dog socialize and get his exercise for the day. You may need to wait up to 10 minutes for a parking space if it's really busy, but that's not usually the case. It's pricy for a single visit, but if you plan on visiting even once a month, it makes sense to buy a yearly sticker.

Love love love this place. It’s probably one of the best dog parks I’ve been to in IL. There is an almost pride upon the people who frequent this place and as such there is an authentic overall friendliness about the folks there. Awesome place
