It has been years since going here, due to Covid-45, and saw what we missed. All the great foods of Europe under one roof. The foods we're all great as we remembered and you can eat as much as you want, it is a buffet.

Place has been around for a while and needs a little update in the dining area. The staff was nice. The food was "ok" as it's not my customary food that I eat but tasted as I imagined it would. The ice cream rice cones tasted stale but the ice cream was good. The jello was a hit with the kids as was the fried chicken. I know it's a Polish restaurant but they should offer a little more kid-friendly options. Also the bathrooms are a bit small and would be nice to have a changing table in at least one of the bathrooms. It was buffet style when we went for late lunch, not sure if that's the setup for the whole day but it was when we went in.

Polish buffet...need I say more? A bit okd wirkd inside, with a great selection of classics: pierogi, kapusta, kalachki. When you need some Polish, stop by.

Wow! Polish-American Smorgasbord! Open since 1973. Pierogi, potatoe pancakes, broasted chicken, Breaded pork cutlet, dumplins, stuffed cabbage, stuffed peppers, nice salad bar, soft serve ice cream, etc, etc. I'm sure items change some. All very good.

The first time here, I had heard of it but never visited. Old time, home cooked European foods. Salads, breads, desserts, and many hot dinner or lunch choices. The polish sausage, saurkraut, potato pancakes, fried chicken, salad bar, apple blitzes, and other hot and cold foods were all excellent. This is definitely the real deal! I will return! If you haven't visited, you should.

Went to Thanksgiving buffet here. Everything here was just wonderful. Great food, great service, great bar ( My old fashion was made perfectly). This is such a cool retro place. An absolute gem, these types of places are getting harder to find. I can't wait to come back.

Food was good, not great. Was better 10 years ago. And getting pricey. $17.00 for lunch. But still for all you can eat buffet that's not bad. The potato pancakes were fantastic. 1/4" thick, crispy outside a moist potato inside. The 2 Polish sausages were ok. The smoked was better. 2 choices of pirogies. And they had sour crowd with bacon and some sort of sausage. That was good. And the minced pork fried thick snitzel kind of a thing was good. I added dill gravy to one and brown gravy to the other. The desserts were good too. The kolackies (sp?) We're really good you could tell they were homemade because they were different sizes and had a bit of different degrees of brownness on the bottom. Go on the weekend I think it's a A couple dollars more but you get a even bigger variety of food. As well as baked ham and roast beef shaved in front of you.

Old school very neat place. The salad options are well done. The golumpki is very nice, pierogi only had 2 choices, sitting in liquid, soggy. Potato pancakes are excellent. Chicken good. Desserts small but kolaczky good. Ice cream machine too.

A fixture in the area for traditional Polish! The two soups (potato & chicken noodle) were from scratch. The cold salads were very good. My faves were the pickled beets, the dilled cucumbers in sour cream, and the bean salad. The hot entrees were wonderful. Dumplings, pierogi's, pork cutlet croquettes, meatballs in cream sauce, stuffed cabbage rolls. They even have a dessert table! Check out the menu on-line. Special note: they are closed Sunday and Monday so plan accordingly!

1st time there. Service was excellent, love the old school decor, with all the 60's and 70's chandeliers, and paintings. Food was excellent. Everything was 5 star. I came from 35 miles to try this place. Price was the only downfall. Not budget friendly. For this price I was expecting more options. Keep doing what you guys are doing Excellent.

The food was very good for a buffet restaurant! The restaurant is very clean. A little pricey at over $30 plus per person after getting a soda with dinner (not including tip). So for a party of 3 with soda and our tip we paid well over $100 plus! We will be coming back though.

Yummy food; well stocked smorgasbord; nice options. The wait staff was on top of things - very attentive even as a singleton during weekend dinner. The dining room was a bit dated, but it does add to the old world charm of the place. N.B. I have always wanted to come to this place ever since I was a child! Crossed one more thing off my bucket list today - worth the wait! The only disappointment was that I didn't find any pierogi at the buffet.

After seeing this restaurant in an article, we made the 40 min drive to this restaurant. The atmosphere of the interior gives a dated but nostalgic feeling and has an overall homey vibe. The staff were kind and welcoming, making us feel like family. I tried a little bit of everything from the buffet and was surprised to find that every item was delicious. Not only will our family be returning to this restaurant more times in the future, we will be recommending this place to all our friends and coworkers. If you are considering going here, please give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

My mother was missing an old Polish restaurant that closed so I suggested Sawa's; she had never been. Kind of a drive on a Friday dinner rush time; 26 miles and 50 minutes, but definitely worth it!!! Food was very good, especially the ham and roast beef at the carving station, I definitely recommend going on a Friday or Saturday when they offer this; it's worth the few dollars more. Selection of other items was excellent also so any night would be good. Service was superb; drinks always full and empty plates removed promptly. The atmosphere is good but the decor is old. Some may not like that but I think it is charming and adds to that family/neighborhood feeling. Mother liked it very much. I'm sure we will be back. Also, they had signs stating they will be open for Thanksgiving with turkey and the fixings as part of the smorgasbord for $27 Lastly, you have to try their homemade butter cookies. Taste just like Salerno and childhood!!! Sorry I went so long

Awesome Polish and American food. The Polish food is authentic, I'm half Polish on my mom's side of my family. She was a great cook too. Little pricy but high quality. The decor is in good shape and is from the 1950s, so go visit the past with awesome food

Everything was very good.... fresh, hot and the trays were kept full. A bit of a drive from Crest Hill, but definitely worth it. So few of these types of restaurants around anymore, very happy with Sawa's. For those who know what a Chocolate Phosphate is, they serve theirs topped with whipped cream. For those that don't know, it's basically a chocolate soda. I haven't had one in years so it was a pleasant surprise to see it on the table drink menu.

I would have given 5 stars except for the prices - Im kinda cheap and this seemed little high for a lunch buffet. Food is always excellent, service was friendly and the staff remembered some of us from previous visits. It is always a treat to go to Sawas Old Warsaw! Its a slice of Poland in the form of Amazing Food! Try the: beef, pork, ham, or many other foods and desserts - you can't go wrong!

This used to be one of my favorite places. However, I will not be returning after my latest experience. It is in my estimation, extremely overpriced for a casual buffet. I went on Friday, the seafood night, which is likely more expensive because of the shrimp in the buffet, both fresh and fried. The food is no different than it was a number of years ago. This selections are no different, but yet this buffet cost $26 a person, a significant increase from what it used to be for a Friday night, which I recall was around $18 a person. Also, be aware that you are charged a service charge if you use a credit or a debit card. There’s no indication on your final check. It’s just more than what your bill is. When I questioned the waitress, she told me they had been doing this for six years, which I do not recall. The owner told me that there are signs posted that say it , both at the entrance and at the restrooms. The signs are there but you have to look for them. They are not prominent. No one would notice them. I certainly did not. I am not aware of any restaurant that automatically charges a service charge on a credit card or a debit card. Makes me sad. I will not be going back . Definitely not worth the money. If I’m gonna spend $26, I’ll go to a higher end restaurant with table service.

Really good buffet! Food is replenished constantly. But everything gets eaten quickly! My fav are- fried chicken, potato pancakes (thin and crispy), boiled potatoes ( hard to find), stuffed cabbage ( with a little spice), sauerkraut. Good salad selection with ethnic choices. I’ve been before and will go again!

  • 2/5 Kathy M. 1 year ago on Google
The food was horrible- the beef and ham were sliced on a pile on the cutting board and cold. The cabbage rolls were mushy and had no flavor. The potatoes weren't seasoned and every dessert was dried out. The server confirmed that the dessert wasn't fresh when asked. The only thing that saved this was the potato pancakes were cooked to perfection. $60 for 2 of to leave hungry. Will go to Mr. Sub next time!

    1. Pay in cash if you don’t want to pay a service fee for using credit card. 2. Buffet style with decent variety of dishes. 3. Food was tasty in my opinion. 4. Service friendly enough. 5. Seemed clean, no problems during visit.

What a great place. The food is delicious and constantly renewed in the buffet table. The selection of food is extensive! The staff is friendly and help in any way they can. After dinner we went to the bar area and had a wonderful time not only talking to each other but to our barmaid.

I haven't come here since well before the pandemic. We were so disappointed. All the food was old and you can tell had been sitting around. Potato pancakes were hard and dry, the roast beef was dry and not even warm let alone hot, the soup tastes like they had too much water and had no flavor, the bread was hard and you can taste that it was starting to go. You know that little bit of sour taste when you eat it. This was disappointing. The price was all right, but didn't make up for the lack of quality in the food. The restaurant was dark and empty and sad. We won't be coming back anymore. There are better polish options up north. It's sad that this is happened because we've been coming to Savas for years and years. Oh well, just like many other restaurants Another One Bites the Dust.

We have been going here for years. Went today for buffet and it wasn’t bad. Plenty seats and great food. I thought it might be different but it was quite the same. I had fried chicken, fresh mashed potatoes, cod, mac and cheese, salad (fresh as hell) potato cakes and dessert. Ice cream and cakes. Soooo good. They also had Italian beef and a few other meats.
