It is rare to find what could be considered a perfect meal. In the first visit to The Cheel we found perfection. This is the first review I've done where I wish I could rate higher than the 5 stars. The spices in every dish and sauce were perfect. Evan provided us with great menu knowledge and service. I cannot wait to come back and go through other items on the extensive and unique menu. This is a place that would be worth making it a destation. I'll let the photos finish this review instead of a thousand words of praise.

They'rrrrrrre Back ! Been a long time folks. What a special job you've done on the "new" Cheel. Looks beautiful. Dinner was lovely. Food was super. Update: cheelaxing on my bday. Had an excellent fish fry ala Nepal and a taste of a very special Whistlepig. What a happy place. Wonderful food ...great drinks ...awesome owners and serve team.

Excellent food & service. Both the bartender & bar manager (Drew) were very friendly and attentive (we ate at the bar-very cozy). First time there-I plan on returning soon!

Food was delicious and the service outstanding. Celebrated my birthday with family and went early enough that we were seated on the porch right away. Very comfortable even in March.

First time at Cheel and couldn’t have had a better experience. Awesome service especially our bartender for the evening Josh. Very informative, let us know what is good on the menu both drinks and food, and everything came out phenomenal. Five stars Cheel Team!

We've been here before and love the food and atmosphere, but tonight was our first time with our kids. I have to say, my kids loved it as much as we do! The staff (and owner) were so welcoming (as always) but really catered to our girls and their enthusiasm really encoraged our kids to try new foods! The kids can't wait to go back!

This place is fabulous! Some of the most creative and tasty dishes you'll find in the Midwest. The mix of Nepalese and Himalayan cuisine is truly a unique treat, all inspired by Nepal native Chef Barkha, who is an inspired entrepreneur. You have to try it!

My husband and I went there for dinner on a busy Friday night. Though we got a table in about 10 minutes, the waiting area was pretty cramped and the waitresses were cramped for space and struggling to get the food out. Even we were uncomfortable standing next to the door and very close to another table. I wish they had a small waiting area.. Now to the positives. The food was amazing!! Very good vegetarian options.. We had baked veggie momos, besan gyaw, cheeli, and rajma burger+aalo fries. We loved the food! It was our first time trying Nepalese cuisine. It was very interesting to see how similiar, yet different it was to Indian food. A must try place and definitely worth the drive. I would love to visit The Cheel again.

If you want to experience unique and flavorful dishes that make your taste buds sing, make a trip to the Cheel. Greeted at the door by a cheerful hostess, seated at comfortable table and chairs (high tops are available in bar area) and provided drink menus first. Waitress greeted us and took drink order shortly thereafter. Table mate is a bourbon drinker and there was a small but nice selection. Chose the Blanton’s and was satisfied. I enjoyed the Yeti summer cocktail. We had no experience with Himalayan/Nepalese cuisine. Waitress patiently went through the whole menu with us. Settled on the Nepali Thali which gave us a variety of dishes to try: : bandel roganjosh, kukhura tarkari, saffron basmati rice, choice of dal, seasonal vegetables, ghew, kenema, & classic aachar. always concerned about the heat of dishes since I do not tolerate any heat at all and the dishes come with a variety of sauces from mild to eat at your own risk. Not a problem as long as I did not add the sauces. Looking forward to returning and exploring more dishes.

Amazing use of complex flavors. I had the lamb Momo (dumplings), deep fried chicken pea fingers (a lot like mozz sticks) with a beautiful creamy center. Could've eaten the dipping sauces by themselves. The cheesecake with saffron & orange infusion is in the top ten best desserts I've EVER had. The server was extremely knowledgeable, which I appreciated a lot.

This was a delightful find. From the second you walk into this restaurant there is a great fun sway (Feng shui). The bar area is open with plenty of capacity to sit waiting diners, and the wall to wall windows make the place feel very open. This was my first flirt with Nepal cooking and after looking at the menu it was difficult to choose from the wide assortment of unusual offerings. This foreign feeling of the unknown, was soon abated by a very efficient and friendly waiter (Dave) who, like a Nepalese Sherper, patiently guided us through the different sauces and the many varieties of meats, fish, poultry, and veggie dishes to select. I had the Sea Bass as a main entree' and the Samosa (duck filled pastry). The presentation was exceptional and the flavor was remarkable. We will definitely revisit to explore the many, many, interesting and exotic dishes to choose from. On Saturday at 9:00 they have live jazz bands and the place feels like a bit of California. Enjoy!

A customer recomnended The Cheel for dinner and after our first visit I can wholeheartedly agree. The staff were extremely friendly with and offered great advice on choices. We went with a selection of appetisers (minibitz) including vegetarian and lamb dumplings and I went with a traditional Nepalese steak dish which was delicious. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town.

Delicious food in a relaxed setting. The Victorian home has been renovated to be a Nepalese restaurant. Loved the little details like gold silverware. Went for lunch and had the lamb burger (I forget the actual menu name of it). The seasoning on the fries had a kick to it, but I like a little heat!

Did takeout. Had the Himalayan ribs with risotto. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, and tasty. The green beans were crisp. And the risotto was very good. First time customer. I will be back.

I cannot share enough how amazing this place is! I’ve been eating and drinking here for years. It’s such a fun special place that every time I’m in town I eat here With my family! We decided to have our wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was perfect. The owners worked with us to create our own space with GORGEOUS decorations matching you wedding colors. Since during COVId they were very sensitive to spacing. We worked easily with Them to put together a phenomenal menu with cocktails. The dinner went seamlessly. Their staff were extremely Professional and friendly. No one went thirsty or hungry. They also had great live music for us to enjoy. Some of my fav items there are their old fashioneds, bourbon, momos, duck endive boats and salmon w glass noodles. Consider this place for a yummy lunch or evening out or for your own private party!!!

Food was okay. We love this type of cuisine, and were ready to embrace all of the flavors., but I didn't get that. Maybe my expectations were too high. Unfortunately, our experience was that the service was painfully slow. It was busy, but not terribly. The atmosphere is nice, especially outdoor dining when weather cooperates. We will try again....maybe.

This is a new building. It is very, very nice. The formal opening is Dec. 1st. This is NOT McD's! The food is different (Nepal). Come with an open mind, an appetite (large portions), and room on your charge card. Definitely get the dal with a hot sauce on the side (I like cinche). And the eggplant dip w/chips to start.

  • 5/5 John K. 7 months ago on Google
The Cheel is back, and better, after a fire destroyed the building 3 years ago. Awesome in every aspect. Higher on the price range but well worth it. Nepalese inspired menu makes this a must try dining experience.

  • 5/5 Mary S. 7 months ago on Google
Attended the soft opening. Brand new space with more room than the former building. The food was absolutely fantastic! The chips were fresh, light and crispy. I am not a tofu fan but I enjoyed the noodle fish with veggies and fried tofu. Yum! I had a cocktail, vodka press worth a splash of orange that was quite refreshing. This was a soft opening and the place was hopping!

Oh my.........what a wonderful experience! My wife and i chose this place for two reasons. 1......it was our 30 year anniversary and I wanted to go somewhere unique. After speaking with the woman while making our reservation, she indicated that the food was made from family recipes and they were from the Himalayas. 2.........Never had Himalayan food. Whereas the service was a little slow the expierence was very memorable for my wife and I. A must go to. (Thank you for the small gift you gave my wife! BONUS!)
