Highly recommended! Location, landlord, and overall conditions have all exceeded my expectations in every way so far. Details below. Location: *Extremely* nice part of town. The 2421 Beechwood building neighbors the Frick Park trails, and is a half a mile walk from the shopping center of town. Being on the border of Frick Park also means lush greenery is always visible throughout Spring, Summer, and Autumn. Landlord: Aaron has been accommodating and considerate in all of our interactions. I've been consistently impressed with Aaron's attentiveness—whether I email, text, or call, Aaron responds nearly (if not) immediately and attends to matters as promptly as possible. Conditions: I really like the interior look of our apartment. There are signs of it being an older house (such as some floor tilted and odd ceiling angles), but overall it took very little effort to make the apartment feel cozy. We never had any appliance or utility failures while using the apartment. The basement is also relatively nice, and features a pay washer-dryer setup. These were always well maintained, and, in the only instance where there was an issue with them, Aaron handled it promptly.

I have been renting with Squirrel Hill Flats for the past 9 months and am very satisfied with the services. Aaron Schwartz is THE BEST landlord you will ever come across. From the moment I set up the first viewing with him, I knew that this was where I needed to live because of his very warm and inviting nature. Moving from New York into unknown territory, Aaron made me feel very at ease about moving to Pittsburgh. He is always very quick to respond to any issues in the apartment and communicates when he will be out of town and unable to help as quickly. Above all, he is a true human being and sees others around him as so. He is very personable and approachable and plays the role of landlord in a very fair way. This location was also perfect -- a 5 minute walk from the buzz of Murray Avenue, bus stops and so much more. I highly recommend renting with Squirrel Hill Flats, LLC!

I genuinely enjoyed staying at Squirrel Hill Flats apartment. The place was clean and well maintained, nice neighbors and most importantly - one of the best landlords I had in this city. Aaron was easy to reach out to, friendly, professional, respectful and very quick with any requests or repairs. I had a minor problem with a balcony sliding door and got the whole thing replaced with a brand new one! Highly recommend this landlord to anyone out there.

I rented from Squirrel Hill Flats during my entire time in Pittsburgh (5 years). I specifically lived at the location on Forward Ave and loved my time there. Aaron was an amazing landlord: he was always quick to respond to any questions or things I needed fixed, and he is overall a very friendly and great guy.

I stayed at the Phillips and Murray location of Squirrel Hill Flats for the last year and enjoyed my time there. Aaron was a great landlord! He was super responsive, friendly, and great to interact with. The location is also great: right by the bus line, near Giant Eagle, close to lots of food options, and in walking distance of both Frick and Schenley.

I lived at Squirrel Hill Flats for five years, and can say that it’s a great place to live. Convenient to shops, buses, highway, parks. Reasonable rent. Owner is helpful, responsive, one of best I’ve dealt with in years of renting in 9 different countries.

I lived in an apartment managed by Squirrel Hill Flats for 6 years and the experience with landlord Aaron has been very pleasant. The management is top notch. I arrived at the apartment throughly cleaned. Whenever maintenance was needed, Aaron always responded within a few hours, even weekends, and maintenance guys usually came in the next business day. The building in Squirrel hill is in a great location too, both quiet and convenient. I would recommend renting with them.

I had 3 pleasant years at the Forward Ave location. Aaron was very friendly and always prompt in addressing any concerns. Great location, close to everything, and it has a parking lot!

Aaron is the most personable and responsive landlord I've ever rented from. When there were minor issues/concerns during the year I rented (ex. washing machine didn't drain once), I'd email Aaron and he'd call me back within minutes to let me know he was on it. I loved that my apartment at 2421 Beechwood Ave felt so bright and well lit. The bleached white paneling on the floors and large windows made a *huge* impact, especially during a Pittsburgh winter. Additionally, the kitchen appliances (microwave, refrigerator, sink) seemed very new and clean when I moved in. The house itself is definitely older — the floors have some slant to them so my roommate and I got creative with padding under furniture — but it's as clean and well-maintained as is reasonable. It was a very comfy place to live!

100% recommend this company! These apartments are the best value in the CMU/Pitt area. I'm a CMU grad student that's lived at the 6350 Forward location for 3 years and have had an excellent experience. The area is safe, convenient, and quiet. The apartments are well maintained. Appliances all work well, temperature is seasonally appropriate, and no rodent or insect issues. Streets are plowed in a timely manner. Aaron is an amazing landlord. He responds almost immediately by e-mail/text/phone with any concerns you have about the apartment or your lease and addresses maintenance requests quickly. He sends out notifications in a timely manner to make tenants aware of anything happening in the neighborhood, like road work. He's also very reasonable about the move-out. I've had previous landlords that tried to get away with not returning the deposit or making up bogus damage claims to deduct from it. Aaron returned it in full, in a timely manner, and even followed up to make sure I received it. There are a lot of bad landlords in the CMU/Pitt area, so you really have to be careful. It's not uncommon for roofs to leak and other such serious issues. If you're unsure about the price, I'd recommend going to Squirrel Hill flats as opposed to some of the cheaper options that run around <$1000 per month for a 1 bedroom. Having a good landlord is well worth the money.
