I
am
a
medical
provider
myself
and
feel
the
need
to
share
my
experience
so
others
can
be
aware.
I
went
to
this
ER
with
chest/epigastric
pain.
I
sat
in
the
crowded
waiting
room
for
an
hour,
was
taken
back
for
an
EKG,
then
sent
back
out
to
the
waiting
for
8
hours.
I
watched
a
girl
with
a
superficial
cut
on
her
foot
who
was
FaceTiming
her
boyfriend
talking
about
going
shopping
the
next
day
be
taken
back
before
myself,
and
others,
who
were
clearly
more
ill.
There
was
an
elderly
couple
waiting
for
longer
than
me
and
the
man
was
pale
as
a
ghost
and
too
ill
to
sit
up
straight
in
his
chair.
The
wife
was
terrified
for
her
husband
who
actually
appeared
to
be
dying.
The
staff
took
a
woman
with
wrist
pain
back
an
hour
after
she
came
in,
though.
I
was
so
upset
by
the
incompetency
of
the
triage
staff
that
I
went
up
to
talk
to
the
staff
who
were
less
than
helpful.
I
actually
thought
they
must
have
misplace
charts
to
be
taking
such
mild
cases
over
such
dangerous
ones.
All
of
this
was
terrible
on
its
own
but
it’s
what
happened
after
I
left
that
really
prompted
my
review.
After
8
hours
of
being
ignored,
I
left
this
ER.
I
went
to
another
UPMC
ER
who
had
access
to
my
chart
from
shady
side
and
told
me
I
had
had
an
ABNORMAL
EKG
reading
when
I
was
at
shady
side.
The
triage
staff
had
left
someone
with
chest
pain
and
an
abnormal
ekg
reading
sitting
in
their
waiting
room
for
8
hours.
Not
only
is
this
unacceptable,
this
is
bordering
on
malpractice.
I
understand
that
ERs
are
understaffed
and
overworked,
we
all
are
in
the
medical
field.
But,
something
needs
to
be
done
with
the
triage
staff
at
this
ER.
I
am
hopeful
the
providers
and
nurses
actually
treating
sick
patients
are
better
trained,
but
I
didn’t
have
the
chance
to
find
out.
Thankfully,
I
was
treated
in
a
timely
and
effective
manner
and
the
second
ER
I
went
to
but
I
am
terrified
for
someone
else
in
my
situation
who
makes
the
mistake
of
going
to
shady
side
ER
when
they
need
care.
