Best time to visit - May until mid-June and September. Otherwise it is way too crowded. Just like all old Mediterranean towns, the streets are narrow and you have to climb a lot for good viewpoints, but the old town itself is a great place to lose yourself inyour imagination while walking around. Tons of restaurants, souvenir shops and street musicians.

The Kotor Old City area was one of the best places I liked on this trip. It has many historical buildings, ancient city walls, and other constructions. The area also has so many souvenir shops and restaurants. This is a great place for vacations. They had the exchange of guards ceremony when we were there too.

Fantastic place to explore, can't imagine hoots much these walls saw. Go around, up and down. Have an ice cream on the way. Enjoy the atmosphere in one cafes sipping domaca kafa as a local. And cuddle the cats!

The old town is pretty with lots of streets and stone walls. There is no ticket required but not sure about the uphill climbing. Variety of shops with numerous colourful things definitely worth visiting. At the entrance, there is an info centre.

Architecturally and aesthetically beautiful quaint town, surrounded by a historical fortress and home to several churches, stone buildings, palaces, museums, shops and restaurants. A must visit!

8€ cash to enter. Took 50 minutes to go up, in using stops for photo, 30' down, spent 10' up there. There were 3 vendors selling sodas and water, much needed. Guide said it takes an hour, out & back, not so, nobody in our group even fast ones did that. Figure one and half hours. Well worth the effort. Sept.12, 2023

A well-preserved castle whose streets smell of history, where you can travel back in time to the Middle Ages. It is a magnificent place with narrow streets, small cafes and art exhibitions, puppies and bars, and entertainment day and night. It is a place with an Italian, French, Venetian and Ottoman history, with many churches and cathedrals. The Gothic style cathedral is remarkable. The height and location of the walls are wonderful. By following a long path, you reach the view of the towering walls and the panoramic view that was once a watchtower. Entrance to the walls was 8 Euros last year, but with a decision taken this year, it has become 15 Euros as of December, and is free for locals.

The Kotor old town city walls are an architectural marvel, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Bay of Kotor and the surrounding mountains. Steeped in history, every stone tells a story of ancient times and battles. Wear comfortable shoes and bring some water, the climb can be challenging but is worth every step. A must-visit when in Montenegro!

A beautiful, well preserved medieval town steps away from the Bay of Kotor. There are many restaurants, bars and shops to enjoy and a simple walk through the town is very pleasant. The hike to the church and castle ruins is amazing and the views of the Bay are spectacular, a must see.

This is a good size old town. Lots of streets to walk through. There are sections that are very busy but there are quiet areas too. There is a public restroom (WC) but they do charge to use it. There’s limited paid parking that is very close but there are larger paid parking lots available that aren’t too far of a walk. If you park on the opposite side from the old city there is an underground walkway at the corner across from the old town you take to get to the other side.
