Situated around 4 Kms away from centre of Ahmednagar, this is a hidden jewel. One of its kind in Asia and only second in the world! It has around 50 tanks on display. Visiting the open air museum is an experience by itself. While reading the names, functions and brief history of tanks, you can have history class, automobile study, functionality of tanks and how the ran or crawled on all types terrains. From the grand daddy of tanks (Rolls Royce armoured car) to small Japanese tanks to Huge American ones, bridge laying ones to anti mining types and not to forget the Trophy tanks won from Pakistani attack and other parts of the world, you can enjoy the various aspect of Tanks. You may also notice pneumatic to solid tyred tanks to continuous tracks, steel ones and rubber padded ones. Closer look and notice the various types of mechanical systems like smooth rollers or saw tooth drives. Keep 2-3 hours for the trip. Entry fees Rs 20, mobile photography allowed, Camera and video camera on charge basis. There is a hall inside explaining the history of various battalions.

This is an open museum not far from Ahmednagar city where tanks from various counties including Pakistan have been displayed. This is open to public and there are nominal entry charges. Some of the tanks are the captured ones by our nation. Some of the tanks are from WW1 and WW2 as well. The place is very well maintained. There is also a guide available who is quite useful. There are a couple of hallways as well. One should not miss visiting this museum.

The whole area is under army management and therefore very safe to visit and well maintained. I wouldn't recommend visiting in the afternoon as it gets very hot even in winter. Otherwise, there are variety of vintage battle tanks to see. I wish these were accompanied by a few historical photographs which would make the entire experience even more informative. Overall, it's a must visit place for Ahmednagar.

Lots of tanks, armoured vehicles, models of Arjun and Tejas, list of regiments, Indian Army Heros; excellently maintained campus, patriotic songs running in campus, ample car parking space, good road to connect and a knowledgeable guide with clear communication skills. I can't ask for more from a museum and it's objective. Well done, our army!

While traveling to Ahmednagar i visited this beautiful Tank Museum. Must visit with your children, friends and family. Worth going to this place. All the tanks are real and you can get a lot of information about each tank here. Tickets have to be taken before entry. There is a garden where you can sit and enjoy nature. There is a canteen facility available inside the museum.

It is the largest tank museum in Asia. They have exhibited tanks of various countries right from the World War 2. The place is well maintained and the information of each tank is given on a placard in front of the exhibit. There are 3 Halls of Fame giving information of each Brigade, Regiment and soldiers who represented the Cavalry and Armoured cohorts. It was a wonderful experience. Thanks.

This tank museum is closed on Mondays and is open from 10 am to 5 pm only. The atmosphere is nice. Worth one visit, avoid summer afternoon as it is an open museum for the most parts. Carry your own water bottles. Feels nice to visit since it is run by army. You can spend upto 30-40 minutes only. They sell chips, water, tea/coffee and museum souvenirs (ranging from 100 to 1000 INR) at the canteen.

Well maintained museum, managed by the Indian Army. Good to visit with the family. Around 40+ tanks, anti-aircraft guns, battle vehicles on display. A small cafeteria is also there for snacks and eatables which are reasonably priced, where packaged eatables are sold at MRP which is really good. A few birds and small animals are also kept there. One star less because of the birds kept in cages which does not give the right message of Freedom.

Away from the city centre a Museum dedicated to showcase the cavalry regiments selected a few armoured vehicles from WWI days. It also highlights our defence force personnel achievements along with their ranks. They also have the charts of high ranking officers timeline of service prominently displayed there. The only drawback or shortfall you see here is that there are no guides to explain to you anything and you have read and understand the displays. You pay an entrance fee of Rs 50 per person with some exemptions to armed forces personnel.

"A Fascinating Experience at Cavalry Tank Museum !" I recently had the pleasure of visiting Cavalry Tank Museum Which is called "Asia's first tank museum" which is located in the heart of Ahmednagar city Inside Military Camp. It exceeded my expectations in every way. The extensive collection of tanks from various eras provided a captivating journey through Indian military history. The museum's informative displays and well-maintained exhibits made the experience both educational and enjoyable. The knowledgeable staff added an extra layer of insight, offering interesting facts and stories behind the showcased tanks. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just looking for a unique outing, Cavalry Tank Museum is a must-visit destination. My visit left me with a newfound appreciation for the evolution of armored vehicles, and I highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in Indian military history.

Godd place to be at if you have interest or if you are emotionally attached with historical items. This is India's first such tank museum and so many tanks are reserved here. From the Tanks that were built by britishers and used in 2nd world war to the recent ones. Entry fee for adults in Rs.50/- and mobile photography is allowed but photography via professional camera is chargeable and that to Rs 500/- Place is not that big and an hour or two is sufficient. One old monument is also at nearby which can be visited if you are visiting museum.

Good place if you want to see old tanks used. You will witness many old tanks. The only problem is reaching there if you are not on your personal vehicle. Hire a cab and auto and ask them to wait there. You are not allowed to take eatables inside. There is a canteen inside but they keep it close in the afternoon for atleast 2 hours and nobody is there to provide you eatables.

It has very good collection of WW1 and WW2 tanks, including our Indian centurion and vijayanata tanks. But no exhibition of modern under service tanks. You can also buy souvenirs like books and badges. Please note that it opens only twice a year on 15th August and 26th January. It remains closed to public on all other days.

I visited the tank museum, and it was an incredible experience. The museum had an extensive collection of tanks and armored vehicles from various eras, and it was a fascinating glimpse into the history of armored warfare. The exhibits were well-maintained, and the information provided was educational. The highlight was being able to see some rare and historic tanks up close. Whether you're a military history enthusiast or just curious about these formidable machines, the tank museum is definitely worth a visit.

CAVALRY TANK MUSEUM ASIA'S FIRST TANK MUSEUM THE CAVALRY TANK MUSEUM was established by THE ARMOURED CORPS CENTRE AND SCHOOL (ACC&S), AHMEDNAGAR, in February 1994. Set Amongst pristine laiwns, it is the only museum of its kind in Asia which houses above fifty exhibits of vintage armoured fighting vehicles. The oldest exhibit is the 'Silver Ghost' Rolls Royce armoured car, which entered service in 1914. The older exhibits date to WORLD WAR I vintage, and saw service on the battlefields of CAMBRAI, SOMME AND FLANDERS. A large number of vehicles are from the WORLD WAR II period. The newer exhibits having seen active service during the 1965 and the 1971 wars. The newest exhibit is the 'VIJAYANTA' tank, after many memorable years as on of the main workhorses of the Indian armoured corps.

Located in cantonment premise, the place is well maintained and has a nice green cover. The tanks are spread out across a large area, and there are walkways to go around and see them. There is a huge collection of tanks, with their description of build and usage. This collection makes you realise that tanks too can have a huge cariety, based on build, usage, capacity etc. There are 2 halls with details of tanks, some photographs etc. Entry charges are 50 per adult and 25 per child. Ample space for parking. There are washrooms which are very well maintained. There is a small stall inside the premise for refreshments. Won't spoil the fun by posting photos... :) Note: photography of the tanks is allowed. Keep at least 1.5 hours in hand if you want to see all the tanks.

A fantastic experience for a Tank enthusiast! Museum looks more attractive and neat after recent renovations. Cafeteria is basic, you can get some packed food like chips, biscuits, coffee, tea, cold drinks, water bottles. Just outside main museum, there is a decent place for sitting, enjoying your own brought food. An adequate children’s play area. Museum itself houses over 56 tanks from around the world. New addition is a model of Arjun tank and Tejas light combat aircraft. Guided tour is also available. Wonderful place to visit to see and get to know about India’s armoured vehicle’s history.

Only 1 in Asia, it's a great place to spend time in world of tanks and Calvary armoured vehicles, tickets for children @25/Person and Adults@50/Person. Phone photography is free and DSLR/action Cam/professional cameras is 500/device ,so I took some photos on my phone. So many tanks and armoured vehicles, most priced possession is rolls Royce silver ghost from 1920's indian style armoured vehicle, decorated at the entrance itself. Sherman tank, Chinese WWII tanks are some other interesting things to watch. Must visit

Interesting place. With amazing patriotic songs playing in the background. Saw so many variations of tanks use for different purposes. And the place is very well maintained. A must visit for the people interested in history and armed forces. The only thing that could have made this better were the boards describing the tanks. I wish the descriptions were crisp rather than long essays. Also the details of when/how/where those tanks were captured (many from Pakistan) would make us swell with pride and set the context.

The Cavalry Tank Museum is the brain child of the Armoured Corps Centre and School wing of the Indian Army. This museum exhibits 47 kinds of armoured vehicles starting from World War I, World War II and other India - Pakistan and India - China wars which were fought from time to time. This is the only such museum in Asia and only the 2nd in the world. The museum is managed by Indian Army, the guides who show you around are well read and have good knowledge of the various thanks and vehicles. The museum also has 3 halls in which they show the history and some details about all the armoured regiments of Indian Army.
