Located at the heart of Murcia city, the entry has a nice terrace restaurant, you get to know everything from the great settlement at the beautiful ancient city of Cartagena and the surrender areas. I just moved to that zone recently, after visiting the museum, discovered that next to my village is an old basilica dated early Christian time, century IV, well next site to explore soon !

We only visited the cafe so cannot comment on the museum. The cafe was very nice and the staff very pleasant. They even smiled. Which can be a rare thing in a lot of cafe establishments!! Only criticism is the coffee could have been a little hotter.

Lovely little museum with free entry and friendly staff. Wasn't that busy when we went and the displays are well presented. The text is in Spanish only so make sure to download the app (shown in reception) which gives other language options for most of the displays. Cafe outside was very busy and whilst we didn't use it, seemed very popular!

Great little museum with some interesting things. We particularly like the knapped flints.

Beautiful museum, well structured, very detailed and deliberately academic, with plenty of ancient relics and objects of real interest in chronological order. The Museum is free entry. The cafe outside is not cheap but serves wonderful coffee and croissants in a beautiful setting.

Temporary exhibitions are always of sublime archaeological interest from the region of Murcia. Neanderthal exhibits at present. The permanent exhibits are extremely informative ranging through to Roman era in the region.

A nice surprise while visiting Murcia. It was free to visit. All information and videos in the self tour are in Spanish only but you get a English booklet at reception. It was very interesting.

Love, love, love (full disclosure: I am an archaeologist). :) I love the archaeology museums in Spain, and this is another good destination. A thorough ground-floor exhibit covering the prehistoric and early historic periods from the region, continuing upstairs into the Roman period. Lots of information panels (Spanish only), dioramas, and nicely displayed artifacts. The special exhibit room is on the top floor and is usually quite interesting as well. Overall, a great place to visit for any length of time (it's free entry), and catch a taste of the long history of habitation in this area!

Cute little archaeological museum, entrance free. My kind of price. Didn't try the cafe but reputedly very good. The museum gives a lot of information concerning the formation of Murcian from palaeolithic times right through Roman occupation. Nice little stop in Murcia.
