    Las ruinas de esta fortificación se encuentran situadas a unos cinco kilómetros al noreste de la ciudad de Murcia, muy cercanas a su pedanía de Monteagudo. El edificio se construyó sobre una pequeña altura desde la que se controla buena parte de la planicie circundante y los fértiles campos de la vega del Segura. Por su estratégica situación se encuentra visualmente conectado con el castillo de Monteagudo, Larache, el núcleo urbano de Murcia, y otras importantes fortificaciones que vigilaban el mencionado cauce hídrico.

    Castle-palace built in the mid-12th century next to the Monteagudo fortress. It was, apparently, a luxurious residence that was as splendorous as it was ephemeral, since it was razed by the Almohads a few years after its construction. It is at the top of a small hill from which there are good views of the plain. Its state has been in ruins for centuries, but some walls remain standing that allow us to imagine its structure and grandeur. It is privately owned and its interior has even been used as a water reservoir for neighboring farms. It is not difficult to park nearby and you can easily walk up to its walls. It's interesting.

    (Translated by Google) Walled castle, which was the habitual residence of Ib Mardanis, the Wolf King. This Muslim leader was the true driving force behind the development of the city of Murcia during the mid-12th century. Beautiful place from where you can see all of Murcia, the shame is that you couldn't go up there because it was being restored

    We were in an activity organized by the Municipal Board of Monteagudo, which turned out to be very enjoyable, entertaining and with great cultural dissemination. In addition to the castle, we saw the Albercon and a palace that the Wolf King used to house his illustrious visitors, where a sample of Andalusi music was played live. Therefore highly recommended activity

    (Translated by Google) Place with very good views, but very abandoned. As long as they do not rehabilitate it, in the end the walls will fall. To access it, you have to climb a small path. (Original) Lugar con muy buenas vistas, pero muy abandonado. Como no lo rehabiliten al final los muros caerán. Para acceder hay que subir un pequeño sendero.

    Impressive site & historical place - ruin of the old fortress and can have a great view of the Christ-statue on Monteagudo. There's a great view nearby - {but a further walk} climbing the hilltop nearby on Senda de Subida al Cerro la Mina. It gives the greater view, and it is highly recommended too. {see : video}

    The customer queue is not respected. The manager said that they would do the work right away, but he waited for 2 hours, the work was never started.

    Fuimos al mercadillo medieval que pusieron el finde, al castillo no subimos porq está en obras. El mercadillo muy flojo y mal organizado, las calles muy estrechas y mucha gente. Anunciaron expectáculos que no hicieron, el de aves no se oia nada, no llevaban ni micros, los caballos y ponies pasaban al lado de la gente y no te pisaban de milagro. Tampoco habia un sitio habilitado para aparcar y habia que echar un rato buscando.

    Beautiful, every person in this region has a moral obligation to visit it. It is part of our history, our legacy, it is our obligation to make it known to the entire world.

    One of my favourite places to go running. Views are worth it. Only negative on this is you can only make it halfway up.
