We
feel
compelled
to
write
this
review
for
the
Hotel
Boutique
Balandret,
Alicante.
We
booked
for
one
night
with
the
intention
of
staying
longer.
Check
in
went
well,
with
Lluis,
front
desk
attendant,
very
responsive
and
working
diligently,
and
kindly
showing
room
options.
(Vincent,
the
other
attendant
at
the
front
desk
was
pretentious
and
condescending,
carrying
an
air
of
superiority.)
Having
informed
Lluis
that
we
may
stay
for
another
2
or
3
nights,
he
explained
the
layout
of
the
Hotel,
with
a
nudist
beach
directly
in
front
of
the
sea
front
rooms.
We
have
no
issue
with
people’s
choices,
but
this
is
not
our
thing,
and
we
would
have
chosen
another
hotel
if
this
had
been
explained
online.
Having
driven
all
day,
we
unpacked
and
decided
to
order
room
service,
noting
the
amount
of
dust
sitting
on
the
appliances,
as
if
nobody
had
used
the
room
for
several
days.
The
in-room
menu
was
very
limited.
We
tried
calling
to
place
the
order,
but
there
was
no
phone
connection.
Then
we
tried
connecting
to
the
Internet,
and
no
connection.
Frustrated,
I
dressed,
and
walked
to
the
front
desk.
Moving
around
the
property
is
a
puzzle,
with
several
lifts
involved.
Lluis
had
left
so
I
had
to
deal
with
the
condescending
attendant.
I
explained
the
two
issues,
stating
I
was
very
surprised
that
a
hotel
represented
as
top
quality
had
these
issues.
He
made
a
smart
remark
to
a
coworker,
and
I
called
him
out
on
this
as
being
unprofessional.
He
attempted
to
backup
and
to
be
responsive.
A
“technician”
was
sent
to
the
room,
messing
with
the
phone
connections,
to
no
avail,
so
no
in
room
phone.
The
technician,
whom
we
found
to
be
the
groundskeeper,
advised
we
should
go
to
the
front
desk
to
sort
out
the
Internet
connection.
So,
back
I
went
to
the
attendant
manning
the
front
desk,
who
took
the
position
that
there
was
a
problem
with
my
Mac
Pro.
I
explained
we
had
been
travelling
around
the
World
for
several
weeks
without
any
issue,
but
his
position
remained
unaltered.
To
overcome
not
having
an
in-room
phone,
he
suggested
I
call
Reception
on
my
mobile!!!
I
returned
to
the
room,
and
we
went
to
the
restaurant.
Once
seated,
the
only
server
opted
to
take
an
order
from
guests
seated
after
us.
We
ordered
food
and
drinks.
The
quality
of
food
was
seriously
lacking,
so
we
ate
half
the
meals
and
returned
to
our
room,
to
be
confronted
with
the
loud
noise.
I
returned
to
the
front
desk
to
be
informed
that
trains
pass
near
the
Hotel.
I
asked
why
this
is
not
disclosed
online,
or
at
a
minimum,
upon
check
in,
to
no
avail.
Vincent
offered
to
move
us
to
another
room,
evidently
with
less
noise.
Since
we
had
unpacked,
and
we
were
worn
out
from
travel,
along
with
the
back
and
forth
to
the
front
desk,
we
opted
to
stay
and
to
check
out
first
thing
next
morning,
which
we
did.
Since
there
was
no
kettle
to
boil
water,
the
attendant
suggested
we
use
the
hot
water
from
the
coffee
machine,
stating
we
should
first
run
the
hot
water
several
times.
We
tried,
but
the
water
smelled
and
tasted
badly,
as
though
the
piping
was
corroded.
We
chose
not
to
use
the
coffee
maker
hot
water
in
room.
The
breakfast
was
very
good,
comparable
with
the
x3
upscale
hotels
we
had
stayed
elsewhere
in
Spain.
Awaiting
Lluis
at
our
room
entryway
to
assist
with
moving
luggage
to
our
rental
car,
we
found
a
Brazilian
couple
standing
outside
the
room
next
door.
The
entry
key
malfunctioned,
and
they
were
unable
to
enter
the
room,
awaiting
for
Lluis,
the
attendant.
