Good food and experience, but not worth the price. Pretty bad value. I’ve been to Italian restaurants with a similar experience, that was just as good or better, and much cheaper. The bruschetta and bread (with homemade dipping sauce) was my favorite part. The lasagna was pretty darn good, but did seem a little over cooked. We also got the pasta sampler to share. It had some interesting flavors, but overall enjoyable. My friend got the steak, and wasn’t impressed, but he loved the soup.

I see their rating is 4.7 stars… THATS A DANG LIE. 5 stars start to finish. Every course, every bite, every drink. Our waiter, Troy? 12/10. Service was phenomenal. Every single item that was recommended tasted like nothing I’ve ever tried before, in the all the right ways ( and I’ve experienced a lot of fine dining ) The owner was darling. Our experience seriously was impeccable. cannot wait to come back, and bring everyone i know to try.

One of the best restaurants in Utah. If you haven't been, then you need to make a reservation and go. This is a complete culinary experience. As close to eating in Italy as you can get. Service was out of this world. Food presentation and taste is off the charts great. Will definitely be returning

Valters is HANDS DOWN the best Italian in the state. The service, the atmosphere, and the exceptionally fresh food. The lasagna is the best I have ever had! Times 10.

This is the place to come for ravioli and hot chocolate! I have been to this place 5 times - but from now on, I will keep to those 2 dishes. The butternut squash ravioli with lemon sage sauce is my favorite: balanced delicate flavors, paper thin casing, plated at tableside. The spinach ravioli and marinara sauce is very tasty as is the gnocchi but the spaghetti with lemon sauce is good but not as spectacular, so I wouldn't recommend the pasta trio. I have also tried the veal leg and it is dry and overcooked, so I do not recommend it, especially when it is $85. The bruschetta is made of good quality fresh ingredients. The lemon gelatto with salt and honey is great and refreshing and quite entertaining while they prepare at tableside. The complimentary bread is fresh, and the accompanying dipping sauce is strong but worth it. And the hot chocolate is the best I've ever had, you can buy an extra cup for $10. Most of the staff is friendly, the place is clean and runs efficiently. Now, why the 3 stars: on one visit, the waiter said they had osso bucco, since it wasn't on the menu, I asked him to make sure with the kitchen. However, instead of osso bucco he brought the veal leg, without asking if I would be OK with the change - they do not do veal well, so the meal was very disappointing and expensive. On another visit, the waiter was visibly upset because I came in just for the ravioli. Tip: they have a small bar and they serve food there. Since the restaurant gets crowded fast, that's a good alternative to waiting).

Valter's was a fun one time experience! The service was great but I was pretty disappointed in the food based on the reputation it has for being top notch Italian restaurant. The complimentary bruschetta and bread were incredible but it was a bit of a let down after that. Our table ordered the pasta sampler platter which was mediocre at best. They encourage you to order a main dish aside from the pasta sampler (the sampler platter is very small. Definitely not a full meal if you do the half order--and probably not even if you do the full) and no one at our table was very happy with their main course. I ordered the Gnocchi which was just fine. The potato dumplings themselves were ok but sauce is the most basic tomato sauce you can get. It didn't taste much different than something I'd get from a can. I was expecting something a little better based on the price and reputation. People at our table ordered the salmon, the duck and the veal and a few got the Carbonara. Everyone wished they ordered the gnocchi except one person who go the carbonara. Most people didn't order the gnocchi because it comes with the sampler platter and they had already tried it. There was nothing else I was interested in which is why I ordered it but I won't be eating my leftovers. The Lemon Gelato with sea salt and honey is actually amazing though. I almost didn't order it since I was so full and I'm so glad I did! It saved the meal and was the best gelato ever. I would go back again in a heartbeat but only for dessert/gelato. The food wasn't worth a second trip.

Loved it! Local friends and colleagues highly recommend this spot and I couldn’t thank them enough for this recommendation. Food here is delish and service is awesome. We ordered crab risotto, salmon and an amazing mocktail. Loved everything.

I know going to Valter's is an experience & not just a feeding. We wanted to introduce our granddaughter & her husband to a remarkable dining experience. Valter's Osteria rang our bells. As one might expect we were graciously greeted by their hostess who tells me she had been there 6 years. She acted with pride as if she was an owner. I'm always pleased with an organization that can instill the staff with a sense of ownership over the service they provide. Our server, Gustavo was the same. He took pride in his presentation of our meals. His support team was just as amazing. Each of our 4 courses were wonderful. Thank you Team Valter for a terrific evening. Jay Alexander ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Valter’s Osteria is truly a restaurant to go to to celebrate a special event! The service is impeccable. The food is incredible, the sensory experience with the flavors is out of this world. Take your time to enjoy each bite! Very pricey, but worth a special occasion. Valter has come to say hello to us each time we have visited his restaurant!

A +++. This place is absolutely amazing , the food , the staff and the table side food service 5 stars + . There is no doubt there would be no Valter’s Osteria without Valter. He is the heart and soul of the place. He glows when he sees happy customers and talks to people. You feel like family when you eat here. One of The best if not the best restaurants I have been with the food and ambience. If you go to one restaurant in SLC this is it or you are missing out on an amazing dining experience.

Not your average Italian restaurant... Delicious pasta made in-house. The little touches make it special: the melted chocolate with biscotti after the meal, the Caesar salad made at the table, the Limoncello dessert prepped in front of you. We had the sampler pasta - which is nice to taste a bit of each. The service was extraordinary.

First time at Valter's - Christmas company dinner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated for the holidays, reservations went smoothly, and our party was seated right away and was greeted warmly. Had the privilege of being served by John. He was personable, and friendly, and gave us recommendations on the menu. The "magic" sauce they serve with the bread at the beginning of the course blew me away - what is in that sauce?! Normally I'm a "butter" gal with bread, but that sauce was a left hook - didn't know it was coming and it knocked my taste buds out of the park - seriously it was so good! Cioppino was good as well as the pasta sampler - got to taste a bite or two of each of the most popular pasta dishes.

The food was very good but our service was very bad. Our server was Judith, she did not a knowledge us for over 10 minutes while chatting to 3 tables around us. It took another 10 to get water. We had to ask for bread 3 times and she just seemed very annoyed the whole time that we would want apps or to place our order. In all about 50 minutes at the table is when we finally got our food - we were a bit shocked by her service, however the other servers in our area did seem much better! Would come back if we could ensure sitting in a different section. Pictures is the lasagna.

Absolutely fantastic experience here it was by all accounts amazing and delectable. Best lasagna I have ever tasted and so many good flavors in the pasta sampler. They had an excellent wine and cocktail menu. The service was impeccable and the waiter so friendly and helpful. The only issue I had is I can get claustrophobic and the seating is a mite cramped, but I am sure I could have asked for more open seating when I made the reservation alas I did not. I am positive I will be visiting this lovely establishment again and again in the future, thank you for an unforgettable experience!!

This place's food is amazing and delicious. I just don’t have the words to describe how good it was. The desserts were delicious as well. I loved the service and how everything was explained. This is such a beautiful place. But tiramisu was okay.

Staying in SLC for business and walked by this place and it was very busy so ate here the next night, Troy was the server and did an amazing job outlining the offerings. Food was amazing, bread and dipping sauce off the charts. Will definitely come back. Was just in Italy and the homemade pasta here is top notch.

Let me start out by saying our server and the entire staff were very welcoming and attentive. What a great experience! Most items are cooked and either prepared or plated tableside, so everything is fresh and piping hot. Here are some of the items we had/ordered: Bruschetta (free): Tasty, although basic bruschetta. Nothing fancy. Would love to have a balsamic drizzle, but it's free. Can't complain too much. Fresh baked bread, with olive oil based dipping sauce (free): So simple, but so delicious. This hit the spot. Gnocchi with zesty tomato sauce: best gnocchi I've ever had. The sauce was very flavorful as well. Lasagna: Generous portion, but lacked flavor. Still tasted good, but needed something more. Spaghetti carbonara: this dish was excellent, super creamy and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Generous portions. I just wish they also offered shrimp with this dish. Lemon gelato: this is crazy good if you like salty sweet and the taste of a lemon. Plenty to share after a large meal. Triple layer chocolate mousse: really tasty, although probably not worth the $22 as of writing this. Grattan Mariana Mocktail w/ peach and strawberry: OMG. Ha ha. So good. Raspberry Italian soda: really great. Excellent flavor.

Oh my goodness! The food here is legit! So amazing! Pricey? Yes! Worth it? Absolutely! They have wonderful specials, I would suggest sharing the sampler special. Trust me it'll feed two adults just fine. This is a must have experience. And don't forget dessert!

This is a place for a special occasion dinner. A real culinary experience. Food is incredible. We had the pasta sampler, lasagna, Cesar salad made fresh at your table, and Pollo della casa. All of it was incredible. And save room for dessert.

Exceptional food and service. The pasta sampler was glorious and the lemon Gelato with peaches was light and rich all at once. It was very loud because it is very popular. So it may not be the place to go if you're looking to have deep conversations.

Really enjoyed my visit and meal with a large group. The atmosphere was superb, service was impeccable and food was outstanding! Highly recommended!

Great food and excellent service. The atmosphere was a little stuffy but if you want a more high-end business dinner could be a good fit. The server Tony was an excellent guide through the menu. Drinks were great. The pasta was a highlight and the burrata was one of the best burrata dishes I’ve ever had! Well done Valter’s!! Save room for dessert, the lemon gelato with sea salt and honey was incredible!!

A group of friends came here last night to celebrate a birthday. Many of us had never been here before. We were seated promptly with our reservation. Our server John was incredible. He offered suggestions and answered all of our questions. The food was delicious! We all loved our dishes and plan to return again. I’d highly recommend this place. Thanks for a memorable night Valter’s.

The food was pretty good. The appetizer, which was sliced duck breast and pate, was pretty good. The pasta sampler was great, in particular the ravioli. All the sauces were delicious. The chicken entree was decent, not great. Disappointed in the tiramisu but the honey lemon gelato was great. Great service. Overall I’d go back to test more of their menu.

Amazing food that reflects the homeade cooking with fresh pasta. They are proud of what they serve and it shows it the price. They use a lot of curry and not enough flavor in the risotto. Overall a good experience.

Disappointed in the food. Looks better than it tastes. The noodles are delicious. They are homemade and cooked perfectly. The sauces are light. However many of the sauces lack in flavor. They lack spice. I ordered the sampler so I got to try 4 dishes. One of the noodles dishes was in a lemon sauce and it was terrible. It was far too sweet, strong, and lemon-y. The sauce was like a lemon sauce you'd find on top of a cheesecake. It was really awful. The only delicious pasta in the sampler was the gnocchi with red sauce. It was excellent and I'd come back to eat that.

We decided to try this place for my birthday while visiting- it was slammed on a Tuesday night but they still were able to accommodate us only an hour after walking in. Even though they were all clearly busy, the service was impeccable from start to finish. I will remember this dinner and the experience for the rest of my life! They know how to make a lady feel special on her birthday! The tiramisu, espresso martini and the house dressing for the bread were personal highlights. Brenda deserves credit where credit is due- she knew the menu, knew how to adjust her serving style to the type of people we were and coursed everything perfectly! Literally cannot recommend this local spot enough. It’s worth every penny!
