"Wait, what is that?!" "Is that...I'm taking a picture!!" I've eaten at a couple Pie location in the Salt Lake Valley and have almost always been impressed by their food. If I want a 1,000 calorie, piping hot, greasy slice of fresh pizza, this was my number one choice. The atmosphere is a bit loud here though, being the college staple that it is, so I would also recommend their takeout location just around the corner, or just any of their newer buildings around the valley. The cockroach was a first, however. I'd suggest staying away from the Underground location until they get that resolved, unless you really just don't care. Where there's one, I'm sure there'll be many. Our appetites promptly disappeared and we left the place at once. As much as I'd give this place four or five stars for the quality and taste of their food, I simply can't when I see a cockroach right next to it.

Went and tried The Pie after hearing everyone hype this place up. I ordered the Mountain of Meat. Well, not impressed with the "mountain" of toppings. Looks like they really pile on the cheese too. It is the thickest cheesiest pizza I've ever had. If you have eaten here, can you tell me about why you did or did not like about this place? #thisishowichow @thepiepizzeria

I love traveling and trying different pizzas from the cities I visit. I was in Salt Lake City and ordered a pizza for delivery. This came highly recommended so I gave it a try. Was very good. The delivert was quick and the pizza was hot. Enjoyed.

Great pizza. Got the Thia and Mediterranean Vegan Pizza. The Thia pizza was much better! And the Vegan BBQ wings were the best I've ever had, so far. Would go back again!

As newbies to the area we searched wings and pizza and WOW what a find. A great, colourful and buzzing place, even on a Monday night! They guy on guitar in the background was 👌 and the wings and pizza were just fantastic. Looks like we found our new local 🍻

The pie Pizzaria underground is not the average pizza place; for one thing it’s underground. After waiting just 10 minutes I was given my pizza. After grabbing a slice, the cheese seeped through other pieces to fill the gaps. As I took the bite of warm pizza, I first noticed the crust was soft, the restaurant had writing all over the walls and cool art work. There was some grease on the table when I got there. After having my tasted meal, I walked out the door and left. If your ever passing by, I recommend paying the pie underground a visit.

Great pizza! Nothing too fancy and full of flavor. Crust is super good too! Great vibes inside, food takes a while to come out but its overall a good time and worth the wait.

This is a neat local spot full of college kids from the University of Utah. I pizza tasted delicious, but was difficult to eat. I ended up eating it with a fork because each time I picked it up all of my cheese and toppings slid off. The crust just wasn’t stiff enough to handle everything on top of it. Service was good and the place was cool. I would definitely go back.

IYKYK Otherwise you walk past it you'll turn around and you'll see a sign that says go down the stairs. You walk in and it's a dimly lit room and you wonder if you've entered the opium den, or the pie. But then everyone welcomes you in and you know that you're home. Order that big old Pizza possibly a beer sit down and have one of the greatest pizzas you'll ever have. Look around and all the signatures on the brick wall and just know that for 40 years people been doing this same thing!

If you haven't been, go. Great pizza in cool ambiance. Great for all ages and any type of occasion. Bring your appetite cause they load on the cheese, and the crust is amazing. My favorite pizza out of anywhere I've gone. Bring a pen to write on the wall.

Gluten free was undercooked. Cheese wasn’t melted all the way. The South Jordan location is much better. Staff is very nice though.

Stopped here with my family. This place is awesome! The decor and building is so cool! We came on a Sunday but it wasn’t too packed. My husband order a $50 pizza and I couldn’t figure out why it was so expensive until the pizza came. It was HUGE!! The pizza fed 3 adults and 2 kids with 2 boxes of left overs. It was delicious though! We ate it for 2 days after.

Amazing pizza in cool underground restaurant. The staff were super friendly and explained about the history of the restaurant. The menu is extensive and very good value for money. Only downside is that they don’t sell individual slices at the weekend.

I love the pizza here. It’s a fun place and the food is awesome. So are the portions. We usually get the combo, and it’s awesome. I do wish that the vegetables were cooked a little more. Getting a big bite of fresh peppers or onions is OK, but texture and flavor-wise, I think I’d like it even better if they were roasted beforehand.

Delicious and hot food. Grunge atmosphere in all the right places. Said it would take 25 minutes and it didn't feel like it took that long. Hot and fresh food!

  • 5/5 Jeffery G. 2 years ago on Google
The crust was light and flaky and just delicious. The service was superb and the prices very reasonable. I would surely go back again.

Had the Spicy Thai Pasta and friends all got different pizzas. Everything was very good. Great portion sizes, quality ingredients, and lots of fun options. You order as you walk in which is in a tiny hallway and it was kinda awkward as people were trying to leave. They call your name and you pick up at the window so not a lot of 'service' to rate. However there is only one way to order so if you forget to order a side of ranch you have to wait in line again. Which isn't convenient. I'm not a fan of the underground speakeasy feel, but I get others are. Not wheelchair accessible as it is at the bottom of a staircase.

Visiting from NYC and wanted to see if the pizza was worth hype. Yes yes and yes this place was just what we were looking for. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were able to order right away. Inside: This place is dim lit and very laid back. While you're waiting for your order you can watch the tvs or admire the writing & pics on the wall. Once, you order most of the things you would need are available at your own dispense. Food: I will admit I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. Of course there was a bit of a wait for the order to be ready (30-35) minutes. Staff: Everyone was friendly and helpful. The guy taking the orders at the register was pleasant to work with and was patient with us while we decided what to order.

This place was freaking DELICIOUS. Hands down this was the best pizza I have had in years. The flavors were phenomenal and my buddies agreed that it was an experience straight out of heaven. The underground aspect is super cool; the place is dimly lit and has the coolest vibes. The walls are covered in writing and oldie pictures. Overall this place absolutely blew my mind. I cannot describe how awesome it was.

  • 5/5 David G. 11 months ago on Google
The location itself adds to the overall charm of the experience. Descending into the underground setting feels like entering a secret pizza lair. It's cozy and intimate, with dim lighting and brick walls giving it a rustic, old-school vibe. I loved the underground atmosphere—it's definitely a departure from your typical pizza joint.

The Pie is always amazing. Unique and delicious pizzas cooked to perfection every time. One of the best pizza places out there, certainly in Utah.

  • 5/5 Sarah J. 11 months ago on Google
Amazing menu! Fast service, very sweet staff. Was a little concerned that the women’s room had no soap. I offered to change it myself since they were moderately busy, but an hour went by and no soap was replaced. There was handsantizer so survivable. We also needed to unfortunately to send back my friend’s gf pull apart bread because the garlic was so burned that the bitterness rendered it inedible. Hate sending things back but it was big money and they were going to not east anything if we didn’t. Recommend asking for no garlic on gf stuff to avoid this issue. The staff remade the order no problem. Loved my pizza and pull apart bread.

  • 4/5 Joshua M. 11 months ago on Google
The pizza we had was great but wasn't cut well. Lost 90% of the toppings off my first slice, went back up to get it cut and was met with a bit of attitude from the cook. Not a big deal but for $40 I was a little disappointed that they couldn't even get it right the first time. Would still recommend it though because the food was worth it.

The best pizza, cheese bread, cinnamon bread. Wearing my BYU shirt and they didn’t kick me out!

  • 2/5 Matt L. 3 years ago on Google
It’s some of the best pizza in salt lake but the service is laughably bad. The girl at the register was obviously stoned and turned off the register while we were ordering. How it can possibly take 30 minutes for 4 slices of pizza is beyond me.

This place is very cool and vibe here it is a lot of mixed groups here predominantly collage mixed families so all are welcome. I’m from out of town so I wanted someplace to eat. The pizza is like the perfect crunchy outside, doughy inside we got the “wide guy pizza and a side of pull apart cheddar filled bread sticks honestly if you want such a great experience for you and a group or a date which I did come here !!

  • 5/5 Athena J. 3 years ago on Google
Fantastic pizza. We got the bacon berry pizza (not on the menu) and the calzone like “wise guy”. Absolutely delicious. Worth the 40 minute drive. The environment is fun too. It has a college vibe in a place that feels like a NY basement.

Excellent pizza, good selection of local beers. Service is also great. Seating somewhat limited now due to the restrictions caused by COVID-19, but worth the wait.

It hit the spot for 11pm hungries, but pizza is really just ok. Guess it's been ranked best pizza in Utah. Hard to believe that's the best the state can do.

Do yourself and your taste buds a favor when in Salt Lake and visit the Pie. This place is delicious! It’s also a classic location, right on U of U campus. Leave your name on the wall (if you can find any open space...) and enjoy the cool decorations. We got the garlic bread with ranch dressing... this ranch is the most delicious I’ve ever tasted. You could drink this stuff straight! I don’t recommend doing that obviously, but if you get the garlic bread or cheese bread you HAVE to try it with the ranch. On a related note, the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza is to die for. I highly recommend this pizza joint!

Everything is bursting with freshness. Balance of ingredients is off, however, with exorbitant amounts of cheese.

  • 4/5 Kamal C. 3 years ago on Google
Great experience and a hidden treasure for a delicious 🍕 pizza pie #🍕 @thepiepizzeriaunderground #thepiepizzeriaunderground and the only reason for stars was that no one asked about how the food was ..or checked on us or seen if we needed anything...oh and the last problem was the pizza was over loaded with too much cheese that it made half of the crust soft and mushy and I couldn't pick up the pizza slices...but other than that the entire experience was👍👍💯💣🖤❤🧡💛💚

I love the PIE. I think this one tastes better than the other Pie Pizzeria locations (not sure why). I always get the Mountain of Meat. If you are on a keto diet, you can scrape off the toppings and 2 slices and a salad is more than enough food. They really load up their pizzas with cheese and meat.
