Okay. First, let's address the title soul food. This place is not soul, food or comfort food. You could say something else, but if you really had soul food down south the grandma's fried chicken or just Sunday meals, this is definitely not the place. The portions are small. I ordered chicken and waffles classic. I got two waffles and two pieces of chicken. Then there was a daybreed roast beef in New Orleans. The day breed is the outer part of the roast that has the most flavor that kind of zaps you. This didn't they just stole the name in the lingo from New Orleans. It was not that the green beans didn't have a soul food taste to him at all but what it did have. It had hints of it. But soul food is supposed to open the door and smack you right in the face. It's supposed to be bold flavors. This did not have it. However, the decor, the atmosphere, even the lightly play music was good. And if you know if you read my reviews in the past, I cannot stand going somewhere where there's loud music and the music doesn't reflect what you're eating. This does somewhat and it's not loud. That's a great thing. Services is good. You'll get good service. You can sit outside or inside and they can open the windows to have light and air from the outside come in as well parking. They have a parking lot a little ways away or you can park across the street. However, this is a no for me. If they had not said soul food I probably would have gave it a one star more. But since they said soul food, it's a it's a mess. I hate to say Columbus Ohio does not have any quality. So true soul food places to eat at all. You cannot gourmet soul, food, soul. Food comes from the soul. You have to feel it. You have to be it. You have to live it in order to cook it. I've heard Bobby flay say it's the most hardest thing to cook soul food because it's all about so feel and taste

I came here for happy hour after work and I really enjoyed their happy hour specials. Unfortunately I’m doing dry January so I did not have a cocktail but every drink that came out looked amazing. The food was really good, I just wish the green tomatoes had a little less of the the cheese. You can’t really go wrong with the chicken and waffles, the Mac and cheese stuffed waffle was good, I’m glad I got the small portion and not the full size tho. The happy hour specials are so cheap! I spent about $20 on all this food. The service was great and fast, almost too fast, I felt sort of rushed like I could not relax but I guess they have high turn over because they were busy. I definitely want to go back after January!

Another place that has been on our list to try out. At first, knowing nothing about this place I thought its namesake was omage to Tupelo, MS. I'll simply say I was wrong you'll have to read the history yourself. The atmosphere was great...one word of caution it is loud in there. No one is rude or overly boisterous it's just the atmosphere leads to conversation and everyone is having a good time. The staff is awesome, well versed in what they offer and make great suggestions. This leads me to the food. It wasn't a disappointment as a guy from the south I know fried green tomatoes and I know grits...and this place does them up right. All the food was amazing. I would suggest if you find a parking spot grab it...enjoy the walk.

Food was great. In my opinion they got the best waffle in town. Drink was on point, unfortunately can't remember the names of what I ordered 😂 to write here. But you should definitely give it a try.

We made reservations for a Friday evening and got seated fairly quickly. They have options for inside and outside, but it was a bit too hot for outside. There's free parking all around the plaza and a garage and there's usually plenty of parking. It does get a bit loud inside but it's fun and lively to be in. It's really bright and pretty inside, lively and cozy, and has a lot of fake plants which warms up the space. Staff is super nice and really accommodating, but our service was a bit slow but they were busy and it was filling up quickly. There's also bar seating, and their bar is bright and pretty. We got their Fried Green Tomatoes, Cauliflower Bites, famous Honey Dusted Fried Chicken, Cast Iron Pork, and Salmon with Quinoa. Their green tomatoes were delicious, fried well, and sauce was a good pairing. The cauliflower bites were absolutely delicious with he sauce on top and ranch. Their fried chicken was tender for the most part and crispy, but I wish the seasoning was a bit more strong because it wasn't shining through. The cast iron pork was tender and flavorful, covered in bbq sauce. The salmon was good, but I think it was a bit overcooked and dry. I was slightly disappointed in each dish, but overall it was a great atmosphere, decent food, and kind staff. We also got the Blood Orange Margarita, Southern Hospitality, and the House Made Ginger Beer. All drinks were delicious and made well and refreshing! I would recommend for small groups, a casual date, and decent food. I would come back and try other dishes, they sounded good and I'm curious. It's also a nice area to walk around and there are shopping stores surrounding the plaza.

There's always a fear that places like Tupelo Honey take good pictures and sound great but can't really back it up. Happy to say that Tupelo lives up to the hype! Group got the biscuits and fried pickles for appetizers and both were really good. I had the chicken and mac-and-cheese waffles for dinner because it seemed unique and I figured why not. Chicken was great and a good blend of spicy and savory. My one issue was the waffles were...a lot and didn't end up finishing them. Still tasty though! Our server, Layla, was great and super helpful since it was all of our first time!

Overall Experience wasn’t impressive as food was served in moments after ordering which made me feel it was sitting, and upon taste the food was lukewarm and cooled. Now nearly a month later I found out it’s part of a chain. Meatloaf was tasty but cool. Brussel Sprouts again would’ve tasted so much better is served hot. Loaded potato skins didn’t suit my palate and weren’t hot either. The only thing served temperature appropriate was my drink.

The food was great! The siracha chicken and waffles were great. Not too spicy but a good heat along with the syrup gave the right amount of spicy/sweet combo. Probably better than I’ve had any where else. My wife got the Mac and cheese chicken and waffles and while it was good the cheese was too much for me personally as I’m not a big fan of creamy texture. I highly recommend to anyone looking to try something new. And the price was reasonable. Add two mimosas and our total was about 55 dollars give or take.

Loved the fried green tomatoes!! I got the classic chicken and waffles but my boyfriend got the chicken waffles with buttermilk gravy and I would Highly recommend those, the gravy is good and it adds moisture to the dish.

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon and didn’t need a reservation. We were greeted by the extremely kind host and continued to be treated well throughout our time here. All of our food was beyond delicious, but it was hard choosing between the extensive list of great items on this menu. I will definitely be visiting again and recommend all others try out this spot too! Also highly recommend the meatloaf!

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tupelo Honey for brunch, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that set the tone for a delightful meal. The menu offered a variety of enticing options, but I couldn't resist ordering the classic chicken and waffles. The dish exceeded my expectations, with perfectly crispy fried chicken paired with fluffy waffles drizzled in a delectable syrup. The combination of sweet and savory flavors was simply divine. My wife opted for the shrimp and grits, and she was equally impressed. The shrimp were plump and succulent, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The creamy grits provided a comforting base for the dish, and the accompanying sauce added a delightful kick of flavor. What truly made our experience at Tupelo Honey exceptional was the thoughtful gesture of complimentary desserts. When the staff learned that we were newlyweds, they surprised us with a sweet treat to celebrate our wedding. It was a heartwarming gesture that made us feel special and appreciated. The service throughout our meal was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. We never felt rushed, allowing us to savor each bite and enjoy our time together. While Tupelo Honey may be known for its Southern-inspired cuisine, it certainly exceeded our expectations. The quality of the food, the exceptional service, and the personal touch of the complimentary desserts made our visit truly memorable. We highly recommend Tupelo Honey to anyone looking for a delicious brunch experience. Whether you're a fan of classic Southern dishes or simply appreciate good food and warm hospitality, this restaurant is a must-visit. We can't wait to return and explore more of their enticing menu offerings.

We have been to the restaurant in Asheville which is delicious and now the new location in Columbus. Family favorite for us is to always try the fried pickles and shrimp and grits. These are a must if you go! This time we also tried Mac n cheese waffles with Asheville hot chicken and the sweet & spicy chicken. Definitely recommended. Try the black pepper Bloody Mary and finish with the most amazing banana pudding!

Great atmosphere great food and of course great service most importantly. This is the kind of place you would want to take someone if you are in to classy atmospheric vibes or even a date with someone that you really want to impress. I recommend making a reservation first as the place filled up pretty quickly as soon as we got settled in.

The location is perfect, located near shops where people are doing a lot of walking. Great for People Watching. Greeted Nice and Professionally with a smile by the hostess. Our server Shawn was great and assured us that the choices we made would not disappoint. Each employee that made contact with us was pleasant, appropriate and helpful! I will definitely return!

Excellent first experience here! They have a large inside and outside sitting area, however on Sundays you still need a reservation because it is so popular. The biscuits are Massive but delicious especially with a touch of honey. I had the mac waffle with the sirracha and honey chicken and it was phenomenal! Verg rich though, so I ended up taking the 2nd waffle home. Great service, I definitely recommend!

It's okay. One and done. A "upscale" diner experience. Cost more than what you get! Mainly chicken dishes mixed in with honey. I got shrimp and grits. It was soupy gritty. I grew up in Georgia. Not the grits I had as a child! The condiments is comical. You get a thimble size and they charge you .75 cents for that! Liquid gold! On to the next place... Free parking in the back garage.

Oh wow! I am a huge fan of this chain and have yet to be disappointed. I was prepared mentally to not like this location as much just because it is north of the Mason Dixon line. Boy was I surprised. The place was packed with the Friday night crowd so we decided to sit at the bar. We went all the way down to the bad side of the bar near the kitchen and absolutely loved watching the staff, especially the executive chef Ramone, work together like a well oiled machine. It was a show with our dinner that most times you have to pay extra for. The food was perfect, the biscuits again are the absolute best item on the menu. They are perfect and served warm and fluffy with the blueberry jam, real butter and honey. I always get them just to nibble. The shrimp po boy was an excellent example of the sandwich with remarkable remoulade sauce. Definitely worth it. The crispy brussel sprouts were perfect. While I have quit trying to compare each location to the other since I haven’t eaten in the Asheville ones for more than a couple of years, this location is definitely at the top of the chain!

When we arrived at this store, we were greeted with the delicious aroma of hamburgers and a lively atmosphere. We found a comfortable corner to sit down and started ordering. Their menu offers a variety of burger choices, including classic beef burgers, spicy chicken leg burgers, vegetarian burgers, and more. Everyone ordered different hamburgers according to their taste, and also added some French fries and drinks. Everyone had a lively conversation, sharing interesting things from work and life. Recommend this store.

Went for both of my daughters' birthday dinner. Got 3 appetizers, fried pickles, spicy cauliflower and pimento cheese dip. All were very good. The pickles were very thin and crispy. My oldest is not a pickle fan but loved them. There were too many tasty sounding options, so I panicked and went with the Chicken BLT sandwich, and our waiter recommended the Mac and cheese, which was very good. Sandwich was huge and very tasty. Everyone loved their choices, Asheville chicken and Mac and cheese waffles for 2, 1 got reg chicken and waffles and 1 got the a chicken sandwich and tortilla soup. We mentioned we were celebrating bdays and our waiter immediately offered pecan pie or banana pudding to the girls. We added a large serving for the rest of us to share. Best banana pudding we'd ever had. Will definitely go back to try more things on the menu.

The food was very good. I would've given five stars but my wife's shrimp and grits came out warm at best. Excellent menu and choices. Cauliflower bites were delicious and the grits which I never eat had me wanting more.

My husband and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary yesterday. We had been wanting to come to Tupelo for a while. It definitely did not disappoint. We had amazing service from the staff. Tina was our waitress and she was an absolute joy. The food was incredibly good. Thank you for a wonderful evening. You all are amazing.

I like to ask my waitresswaitress to surprise me with anything on the menu. She did not disappoint. The Roast Beef Debris was amazing, as was the specialty Old Fashioned thay she had made for me even though it was technically not on the menu any longer. Great time!

Very good food, drinks and service. We had the crackling appetizer, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles and the chicken and biscuit. All were delicious - the drinks and service were equally as great! We will be back.

I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious and fresh. The restaurant itself is a whole vibe. I brought my son with me this time around, and he doesn't usually veer from the norm, but even he enjoyed. I was told that they have a nice brunch on weekends, I definitely want to try on my next weekend off.

We loved everything about this place. The food was unique and delicious. The staff was friendly and they have outdoor seating and parking nearby. We got chicken and waffles, chicken and biscuit, avocado toast and the debris and biscuits. Everything was amazing and the biscuit are a must try. We will be returning!! Thank you

From beginning to end it was a pleasant experience. Sitting at the bar was a great choice because of the view of the OSU football game and the banter from the bartenders that made everyone chuckle. The fried green tomatoes are worth a try, mine were delightful yet not quite hot enough. For dessert, I tried the mini duo sampler where I was able to try the banana pudding (tasted like banana pudding but the consistency was really runny) and the pecan pie (scrumptious, I recommend). I will be returning to try the chicken since I’ve heard that it is really good and the happy hour menu looks phenomenal!

Been here twice now and have enjoyed it both times. It does seem like you need a reservation to get a table during mealtimes, but there is a large bar with many stools if you're like me and didn't get a reservation in time. LOVE the cocktail menu and happy hour. As if that wasn't enough to keep me coming back, the mac and cheese waffles were unique and amazing. The portion wasn't huge but probably for the best. Glad to have this in Upper Arlington!

The food was tasty. I had the slow cooked pork shoulder with baked mac and cheese and crispy fries. My Father had the honey dusted chicken and waffles. We shared pickle chips. They come with ranch, but we subbed for honey mustard 🍯 . The food came out quickly, but some of it seemed less fresh. The pickles were definitely made to order but some of the food didn't seem to be. The service could have been better. The server was polite, but not very attentive. We asked for extra syrup and it came after we finished eating--at the same time we asked for the check.
