This museum is fantastic. For anyone who loves recorded music (that's basically everyone), this is a must. It basically traces the history of recording equipment, with beautiful pieces from the 1800's on. It's 2 story, the displays are amazing, the staff is friendly and knowledgable, and to top it off, it's free!!

We had an amazing time at the museum today! Steve was very knowledgeable, and it was so nice to have a private tour immediately upon entering. We stayed for over an hour, learned a lot, and left raving about the experience. Highly recommend leaving a donation if you go: the museum would appreciate your money and Steve would appreciate a Schweppes ginger ale.

Small, but certainly packed with some of the most amazing Victrolas. Most are almost 100 years old. They even have a Grammy. Volunteers working there are both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their museum. They play a record for you at the front on a grammaphone and it sounds much like the record player I have at home. Only a 100 year difference between the two record players, so the subtle difference is expected. 😉

Awesome museum full of amazing pieces. The staff are full of knowledge and explained a lot. And easy parking, and free! Definitely worth the visit if you're in the area.

Had an amazing time with an amazing knowledgeable tour guide! Took my daughter here for her 1st birthday and she loved the music they play for you on some of the Victrolas ✨🥰 Had a great time taking photos with Nippy the icon for Victrolas! Free and close to some amazing food places!

This museum was our favorite stop on June 29, 2023. We enjoyed the guided, unguided tour. The employees were very knowledgeable on victrolas and related inventions and the inventors involved. It was very fascinating for this former science teacher and her mother. We enjoyed the education we received while there.

Was NOT expecting this. At the end of our day and we stopped more out of curiosity then anything. Met at the door by a nice gentleman who gave us a tour of the museum. I think we spent over an hour with him and it was great. We learned so much of the history of vinyl records and machines. Not sure if he gives personal tours to everyone or was just bored but his knowledge and willingness to share made this a great stop.

Hidden gem! We entered expecting to be in and out in 20 minutes. We stayed for 2 hours; it was fascinating! One of the best museum experiences I’ve ever had. Our tour guide, Larry, was friendly, knowledgeable, and his passion for the history and engineering aspects of the machines was incredible. It’s a must for music lovers. & anyone who is visiting Dover, this is a “Do Not Miss.”

Only has two floors so your visit time wont be lomg. There are two floors to the building but the upstairs has no handicap access which is understandable since it is a old building. Plus side the volunteer on the shift was very informative and even demonstrated how the old record players work.

We visited on a quiet summer Friday and enjoyed a private tour of the ground floor with a friendly, knowledgeable guide. We were surprised to learn that Eldridge Johnson is from Delaware, since we knew that Camden NJ has a large Victrola building. We learned that Mr. Johnson was not a lover of playing or listening to music. However, he was a master inventor and businessman. The museum has free onsite parking and has many rare, amazing instruments and memorabilia from the Victor Talking Machine Company. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
