I was in DC for a concert and we wanted something good to eat so we looked up local spots. This one popped up and I am glad it did. The food was fast, the server was polite and explained the menu easily. The price was right and there was plenty of food. Next time I am in DC for an event I will definitely stop here again. Also, their spicy miso is delicious.

Really enjoyed the ramen 🍜, honestly was excited to try the restaurant above once I seen the menu but it was closed. Food that knocks the cold off. The only reason this getting a two star and not at least 4 was because the meat smelt sickening ! Me and my friend didn’t care to indulge but the noodles and broth were hitting the spot ! Everything else was spot on

Great atmosphere, laid back, friendly staff. Ordered their shio ramen which was a clear broth. The ramen noodles were the best part of the meal, the broth had a taste similar to chicken broth, so I was a little disappointed. There's a 3% living wage type fee though it can be removed if requested. Great for those with allergies, they have a whole section on the menu for those with allergens

My favorite ramen spot in the District. Been here about five times. Friendly staff, high quality service. The menu is sufficient with options, but not overwhelmingly so. Not for vegetarians FYI. I love the taste of their various broths and the consistency of the noodles. They do a great job, regularly. Photo is of the shio ramen with extra ground pork, onsen egg, nitamago, and butter. The playlist is always on point, too! But not loud

Service was quick. Ramen was delicious! Sitting at the bar demystified how it can be prepared so quickly. I would’ve like even 1 more noodle option but the noodles were chewy and cooked perfectly. My proteins were cold when they arrived so I had to submerge them in broth to get hot. Service size was perfect, I finished my bowl without feeling stuffed but course saved the rest if I wasn’t as hungry.

Really good ramen! Food is served fast and this place is always busy. The style of ramen is different I believe Sapporo style, but the noodles were chewy and the broth was very tasteful.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner. They have a few booths, but most of the restaurant has communal seating which means you are sitting at a table with other people. I realize this is typical Japanese style seating for a Ramen shop, but I’m not a fan of not only sitting next to people I don’t know but also across from people I don’t know. That’s just my preference. With that said, I don’t have any other complaints about this place and the Ramen is so good, I’ll sit with other people and eat if I have to. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen and extra noodles and it was excellent. I normally end up with a lot of broth left after eating the noodles, so having the extra noodles was nice since I just dropped them in after I was done with the noodles that came with the Ramen. My wife ordered the super spicy Shoyu Ramen and said it was great and actually a good spice level for her. It was much more spicy than most other ramen shops. One thing I noticed and appreciated was the temperature of the Ramen was perfect. I’ve been to some places where it was so hot you needed to wait 15 minutes before eating it. The server was really nice and had a pleasant personality. We also each ordered a Sapporo. The total bill came to $79 and that included an automatic 20% tip. I didn’t have a problem with the automatic tip since the food and service was really good. You have the option of letting them know you don’t want to pay a 20% tip and they will allow you to give the tip you want. I recommend this Ramen shop and we will go back again if in the area. Keep in mind they don’t take reservations. We did not have to wait for a seat at 7:00pm on a Monday evening but I bet it’s different on weekends.

I don't normally give low stars and rate but I think I have to be honest for this one. Disclaimer: Maybe it's just us. Maybe your experience is different. My husband and I like ramen so much, I am from Asia, and we've tried too many ramen place in my country that were really good and mouth-watering. So, he searched for a popular ramen place here and found this one. During our first try, we stopped by like 9pm (we were so late because we struggled to find for a parking spot) and unfortunately, they denied us because of the long waiting line. Second attempt, we decided to take the metro this time, and went earlier to made sure we could make it. Okay, the staff are not too welcoming. But that was fine as they were too busy too because the place was really packed. We were on a 15-30 minute waiting time so decided to walk around and checked out nearby places. When we got a text from them, we went back and was introduced to our spot. The place is kind of small (they had extended tables outside), so you have to share the table with others. I anticipated the ramen so much because we were both craving it. Our orders came, but to my disappointment, it was not as good as it was described by others. My husband's ramen soup was bland, mine was too much soy sauce flavor. Less noodles too. Even my husband agreed. NOT BAD, but also have not exceeded to our expectation. It was an expensive nice try, but won't go back there again.

The place gets busy and they only take walk ins plus you must have everyone in your party to be seated. Has both an indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and service was quick. The server made to go over the menu and answer any questions. All of the broth except the veggie is made from a mixture or beef, pork and chicken so if you are a vegetarian the only option is the veggie option. The ramen itself was good, not something to die for and perhaps it’s because it was the veggie broth and not the regular broth.

One of the best meals I have ever had. Our waiter Lucas was very knowledgeable and willing to talk about the entire menu. From the cocktails to the dessert it was an amazing experience. 10/10.

Service was great. They lose a star because we did not get a detailed receipt. Just a total. We ordered a lamb chop in the beginning but it never came. When we said something they said they'd get another. Now we aren't sure if we were charged twice. It was an experience trying different foods. I will say the ramen bowls with seafood (special) were $30 a piece and with the amount of seafood it was worth it. NOTE: THEY ADD A 20% SERVICE FEE AND THEY DO COUNT THAY AS A TIP. You do have the option to tip more. I love that they tell you up front.

Hands down the best ramen I’ve ever had. We came around 2 pm and was put on the waitlist for about 45 minutes. It was definitely worth the wait. We got seated by the kitchen bar and I was quite amazed of the organized, detailed, dedicated work of the chefs. We ordered the spicy miso and wow it was so divine. Two things that we didn’t like about our experience today. The spicy miso didn’t come with the nitamago egg. We had to order the additional egg on the side for $1.50. Our server forgot our order and didn’t check on us at all while we were at the bar. We waited another 45 minutes for the ramen (we had to ask her for our ramen after 35 minutes of waiting). The only reason I gave this a 5-star is because of the ramen quality. Will be back when we’re visiting DC in the future!

We found this place by accident and we're so glad we did! The Ramen was delicious (I had the vegan option!). The portions were huge. We could not finish the whole bowl. And the price was great for a downtown restaurant. Will definitely go back!

Came in for lunch around noon, surprisingly not busy! Service is relatively quick for how busy it gets. Ramen is cooked well with a rich smoky broth and noodles cooked to be firm. Only downside is they do not give a lot of meat with the order, I'd recommend paying a little extra to garnish with an egg.

I don't eat pork so I was going and knowing that I'd have to get either a chicken broth or a veggie broth so keep that in mind as you read my review. The atmosphere was beautiful no complaints water was good it didn't taste like tap water and it was readily available. That's where my praise has to mainly stop because the vegetable broth was mid. The noodles were good texture good flavor however the only option I have is a person who doesn't eat pork is to get the vegan ramen even though I just requested to have a normal Ramen just without the pork pieces but that wasn't an option so if you want to get vegetable broth with regular Ramen not possible. The vegan ramen was 75% vegetables with brussel sprouts carrots and SO MANY ONIONS. I couldn't even finish it Added a picture of just how many vegetables and onions are in the ramen for those that are trying to understand. Also keep in mind they automatically add a 20% tip to your bill so be careful if you do not want to add an additional tip to it. I'm sure it's probably good for the pork eaters looking at the other reviews but if you don't eat pork and you just wanted a chicken ramen or a vegetable broth Ramen find somewhere else.

It's my first time in Washington DC and you bet the past few weeks I've been pinning every foodie recommended spot. We headed straight over to Daikaya after checking in, getting in at around 730pm on a Wednesday evening, we got to steal a spot on their communal tables. Service, atmosphere, and vibe are completely relaxed and chill. Food was the biggest letdown. For $23 a bowl, you get 1 single cold piece of Chashu and half of a cold soft boiled egg to accompany your now Luke warm bowl of noodles. The soup will have you finishing the pitcher of water. It's THAT salty. The one good mention for the spot is that the texture of the noodles was perfect. Aside from the chew of the noodles and the super friendly service, the bowl was by far one of the most disappointing ramen bowls I've ever had.

I went here for Restaurant Week today and had a great experience! I had the Kaki Fry, Braised Eggplant, Udon, Cream Stew, and Zenzai. The food was wonderful. The oysters were served with a delicious egg salad on top. The eggplant was in a delicious soy broth. The udon noodles were wonderful, and the fried tofu soaked in all the broth. The cream stew was rich and a great mix of sweet and savory. The zenzai wasn't very sweet, and I liked the earthiness of it. My only criticism is that the mochi in it wasn't very good - I've had much better mochi (texture and flavor wise). I went with two other people and so was able to sample all the other dishes as well. The croquettes were a little plain - I think the filling could have used some more salt or some kind of seasoning. The sweet potato was delicious, but no different than when I make it at home - I wonder if something could have been done to make it feel more unique. Everyone loved the curry and thought it was a wonderful comfort dish. The taiyaki (fish shaped pancake filled with red bean paste) was also very good - I've never had one deep fried before, but it certainly didn't hurt the flavor. We agreed that it reminded us of funnel cakes at a fair, which is definitely not normally the case with taiyaki, but it was still delicious! I'm excited to come back and try the regular menu after trying these dishes, and it was incredible value to get 5 full courses for $40. Portions were generous, and I really appreciated how cohesive the theme was. The waitress wasn't as informed about the food, but I think that's understandable with a completely original menu for Restaurant Week. The decorations inside are beautiful, and I appreciated that we could carry on a conversation - a lot of restaurants are too loud to even talk to the people around you. Overall, a great experience, and I think I picked the right things on the menu.

It was an ok experience, the cups of water were a little dirty with stuff in it. The ramen soup was full of flavors, but it was really salty. They were out of almost all appetizers when we were there at 2pm. For $17/bowl is expensive and not worth it. For 5 people, bill come out to be $114 + tips.

I don’t usually give low rating but wanted to bring this experience up to other visitors. Noodles is average, soup wasn’t as great as the rating on google that I expected. Service is good and friendly. However the bill was surprised me. Family had dinner at Irish pub and I didn’t like pub food, so I came this place to think it’s a quick simple noddle for myself. Ordered beer for me and my partner while we were waiting. For simple and quick in and out noddle bowl, without fancy service at fancy place, they automatically added 22% service fee. Without give customer any other option. And then taxed on service fee after even. Never had this experience before. So, my suggestion is, unless you are dying for this restaurant, other one next block had better ramen. And won’t charge you 22% service fee. At the end, our family paid similar amount twice for one family dinner, one at Irish pub for 3 people and at here for one person to have a noddle bowl. Lol

Great atmosphere, and equally great food. Service was quick and prompt. The food was delicious. I can only speak for the ramen, but I added pork belly and it was incredible and very filling. Even on a hot summer DC day, I would not hesitate to go back.

I thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere of this restaurant. The communal tables allow everyone to engage in their own activities while still enjoying the company they came with. The miso ramen, especially on a serene Sunday amidst the snowfall, was a delightful experience. I highly recommend giving this spot a try!

One of the best places to have Ramen. Quick service but very small restaurant. Our seating situation was not comfortable at all.

Service was amazing. My brother has a million allergies and we forgot to communicate some and our server (forgot her name, she's an Asian woman with pink streaks in her hair) was amazing about accommodating it. She was quite honest about the spice level of the super spicy ramen and he still baited himself into it and our server helped us with alternatives (extra bowl of soup). As for the food, I particularly loved the egg and pork belly. Cooked to perfection.

Kind staff let people shelter in the restaurant during a storm. Even though it meant people were standing in the aisles. Good display of humanity. Ramen was tasty. Noodles were bouncy. I would definitely get the fried gyozas again. The super spicy ramen had real kick. Not inedible kick. But it is not for novices.

  • 3/5 Li 10 months ago on Google
Great outdoor seating area for dining with my puppy. The gyoza was good, nice and crispy however the ramen left alot to be desired. It was a bit too salty, the portions are small, not enough meat to go with the noodles. The soup was nice and light. A bit too expensive for the price.

This is a cool restaurant that also has an upstairs Izikaya bar where you can wait until your table is ready. The highballs upstairs tasted good and are made strong as they should be. The ramen comes in six options and my friend and I went with the traditional Shio and Shoyu. My friend also got the Gyoza which tasted pretty good but was air fried. Overall, the ramen and Gyoza were delicious but this place is a little expensive. They add 22% gratuity to all orders... Two drinks came out to $35 and the ramen was around $31.

  • 4/5 Rocco V. 1 year ago on Google
The Ramen was good. We tried 2 + 2 appetizers. It felt like the waiter (and waitress because we had 2) just disappeared simultaneously and right after our food was served. Empty restaurant at 2pm but waited over 20 minutes for napkins and second order of drinks. Their spicy Ramen will humble you like a Mike Tyson punch.

Casual atmosphere... Fun with music And diners chatting. My Ramen was savory, the noodles were outstanding, and slightly chewy... In a good way. The broth was rich with pork belly and hard boiled egg. I asked for chili oil to add to it, I like it spicy. We also ordered a vegetarian Ramen with tons of veggies, and still had a very rich broth. Very satisfying meal. I did not leave hungry at all.

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST VEGGIE RAMEN I EVER HAD!!!🥹🌱 The broth is very flavorful, the topping are all well-seasoned and stir-fried. I appreciate the vegan spicy bomb option. And the server is very helpful by suggesting me getting the onsen egg instead of the nitamago as a better vegetarian option. And if you’re a big fan of spicy soup, you should really try their super spicy shoyu ramen while it’s still available! It’s super flavorful and burning spicy at the same time! My hubby was covered with sweat and happy tears after finishing his bowl lol! The ramen house can be packed at dinner time, try to make it slightly before the busy time if you can to catch a seat especially if you have a bigger party.

Edit: to clarify I was upstairs. On the second floor. That part requires a reservation. The food was FANTASTIC. Absolutely good. Would 100% come back. The server was super friendly. She was super patient with us. This place is definitely the best place to go to Japanese food. This place and their other restaurants that are connected together. The chicken was breaded nicely, the sauce was sweet but not overbearing, and the lemon really brought it together. It was so good I almost forgot to take a picture. I literally have nothing negative to say. It was beyond my expectations.
