Had an absolute lovely time! The food was on point and the staff was super friendly from the get go. We were celebrating our anniversary and they were very accommodating. We had the seared tuna and a very tasty beet salad. The fry cake dessert was scrumptious. Of course you go for the bourbon and they didn't disappoint. Some stuff we were looking for were out, but Matt was able to suggest similar bourbons that were awesome! If you want to have a great time and try hard to find bourbon, stop by!

As a whisk(e)y fan, I had to visit Jack Rose while in DC and it was awesome. Kyle, our whisky advisor, perfectly crafted a whisky flight based on my preferences and provided very detailed and interesting facts about the story and science behind each bottle. In addition to the 3,000 unique bottles of whisky they have food, beer, cocktails and two floors of space (including outdoor space) so it’s perfect even for those who don’t want whisky.

Jack Rose offers an endless variety of whiskeys and bourbons. I honestly recommend letting the bartenders know what you like, including geographic distillery locations and if you prefer single or double malt and let them do the rest. I love the unique and exquisite options and the presentation is second to none. I highly recommend visiting Jack Rose if you are looking for a gentleman's watering hole.

This bar is a whiskey lovers dream. If you have something you wanna try, you will find it here. You will most certainly find something you didn't know you wanted to try. Bar tenders are attentive and skilled. I've been to plenty of bourbon bars in Kentucky that didn't have 1/4 of the selection here.

If you find yourself looking for an amazing whiskey, rye, bourbon, or craft cocktail experience while wandering in Washington DC, look no further. This location has an amazing selection of various spirits, some dating back to the prohibition era. Some items offered are not available in the States or are no longer made. Yes, you may pay up for your experience, but you definitely are getting what you pay for. I highly suggest trying a flight of spirits. There are flights mentioned on the menu. However, the mixologists working here can put a flight together for you to satisfy the experience you're looking to have. The mixologists here are very knowledgeable with the various spirits in stock and can provide you with a little history about the spirit of your selection. The food items offered on the menu are very delicious and provide a little soakage to further enjoy the various spirits on hand. This location has a good feel, very knowledgeable and awesome staff, an amazing selection of spirits and good food! What more could you ask for? Definitely stop in. This spot does not disappoint.

Jack Rose is a must-visit for whiskey enthusiasts in the Washington DC area. Despite some initial option paralysis, navigating the mobile menu and searching “Jack Rose” under the whiskey section reveals affordable specialty picks. What sets this place apart is the unique experience – when you order whiskey, they leave you with the bottle, allowing you to savor and enjoy the pour. Adam, a helpful and friendly staff member, guided a (my gf)whiskey newcomer to intriguing options. Also arriving around 7:00 PM, post the after-work rush, provides a more relaxed atmosphere. Overall, a fantastic experience worth repeating.

Truly a must-go place for bourbon and whiskey lovers. For starting at only $28, you’ll get to experience 3 bottles tasting with an excellent background on each bottle by well-knowledgeable and passionate servers. The second floor is open air with different corners to experience.

Every time I'm in DC I find an excuse to come here. The food is excellent but this is the best Bourbon bar in America for variety, with pretty decent prices as well. It's hands down my favorite bar. The rooftop is cool and open while the saloon area is dark and cozy. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about bourbon and the bartenders are amazing. You must go here if you enjoy bourbon.

Inside the bar is really cool, received great service from the bar tender and generally had a great time while visiting from the UK. However, the problems started after I returned home. I visited Jack Rose on the 17th February with two friends, we enjoyed our cocktails and I opened the tab with my debit card. Upon finishing our drinks, I opted to pay in cash and closed the tab with cash with a signed receipt for both the Merchant and myself. Upon returning home (around the end of February), Jack Rose took two transactions off my card (the one I opened the tab with), one was pending and one was completed (essentially paying 3 times for 3 drinks totally around £150). I tried to contact Jack Rose by phone, nobody answered. I couldn't leave a message. I messaged on Instagram which has still gone unread (I was later advised that they don't receive their instagram messages). I then emailed them to which I didnt receive a response and brought up a charge back action through my bank for the extra charges. I got my friend who lives in DC to call them as I was unsure if it was because I was calling from a UK mobile that was the issue, she spoke to somebody who told her that emails are answered within 24 hours. I sent a follow up email on the 16th March to which was responded by Melody, she apologised for the double charge but then said that I hadn't worked out the time difference and that's why they weren't picking up? Totally not true as I had made sure to call at 10pm UK time. She advised me as I had started charge back proceedings she couldn't refund the difference to me - totally understandable as they have their own procedures. I responded back to Melody on the 17th March explaining that as I no longer had the receipt for my drinks (I didn't think to keep it because weirdly enough, this would never happen in the UK? Or there would be much clearer recourse of action...I digress). I explained to Melody this issue, told her the time my friends and I were there and asked her to please check the CCTV so that she could see that I had paid by cash, as I had signed a merchant copy of the receipt, please could she take a photo of it and send it to me - it has my signature after all so I could pass it along to my bank so that I could have evidence for the charge back. I received no response to this email at all. The pending charge has come back into my account but I have still paid twice for drinks I had once (once in cash, once by card after returning to the UK), so have paid £100+ for 3 drinks. I am not sure whether their book keeping is wrong or this has been a serious communication issue but this has seriously burned me from trusting Jack Rose and will not be returning the next time I am in DC. Until now, I have received no response from Jack Rose and even though the issue has been admitted, they have done nothing to try and rectify the situation, either through the bank or through messaging me a copy of my receipt which proves cash was paid for my tab. It's very worrying. Please find attached photos that prove I actually was in the bar. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anybody else in the future, its a shame because we were really excited to be there especially as one of our party really enjoys whiskey and was excited to show me this bar.

one of my favorite whiskey bars. in spite of the huge deep collection of whiskeys, some incredibly rare, this place has no pretension. the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and is there to share…no brow beating if all you want is a cocktail…but if you ask, they will go deep and converse. the room is warm and inviting. sit at the bar and listen in on the banter and advice. the food is pretty good, too.

Popped in to sip on some whiskey. Ill have to go back for food at some point. Outstanding whiskey list. Bartender who I met was super cool. Gave me a few recommendations but fortunately I had an idea what I wanted . Great ambience... just a really nice looking whiskey bar. Clearly I was in a widow Jane mood. Not much to complain about. Next time I'll pick up a couple of bottles to take home. Yes, there is a store adjacent to the bar area.

The best whiskey bar in DC hands down. Super knowledgeable staff, picks for any palette, and great vibe. Highly recommend a stop here for the novice whiskey drinker to the bourbon conossuier.

Great bar! So many options of bourbon, wine and craft cocktails to chose from. Did not eat food while on my visit. The only downfall was that we visited on a Saturday around 9pm and it was super packed on both floors. Hard to have a conversation let alone find a table. Would try to go back during the afternoon to enjoy the bar downstairs next visit.

I have yet to find a place that has such a great selection in spirits. The whiskey is truly a marvel to look at. They even had cambletown scotch which is my favorite and not easy to find. Service was fantastic, everyone was so kind and accommodating. Thanks for a great night out

The food was excellent, just look at my pork chop! What I want to highlight is the service. I was part of a group holding two separate reservations so we could host guests though we weren't quite sure how many would show up. After describing the situation to our host and then our server, they did everything they could to accommodate our group, including allowing us to move closer to each other, which they certainly did not need to do. Kudos!

First of all, the whiskey/ scotch/ bourbon selection is off the charts. Both bartenders that helped us were knowledgeable and personable. Food was unique and tasty.

I don't drink. I've visited this place twice within the same week with a group and it was a great experience. The lighting - nice and dim. Just the way I like it. No bright lights to burn your eyeballs. The ambiance is amazing and makes it very easy to hold a conversation without shouting. But most importantly the Impossible Burger is the best Impossible Burger I've ever had. Well seasoned, nicely nestled on a toasted sesame bun with *decent* fries. I can also appreciate the expensive alcohol and the shelving that displays and stores them. Not to mention watching employees climb ladders to grab what's needed. It's definitely on my list of places to go for dinner.

Absolute perfect atmosphere for the end of our date night! We had attended a show at the DAR Constitution Hall and we're out by about 8:30 PM. This was only a short drive north and then the direction of home, so it was a perfect stop! We were visiting on a Sunday evening, so the downstairs inside was closed. But the upstairs balcony was open. We definitely want to enjoy this nice weather while we've got it! There were only two small tables on this outside balcony so it felt very cozy! I eat in a huge meal and wasn't hungry and just came to enjoy the conversation in the club soda. But my husband had come straight from work and was ready to eat. So he enjoyed their bacon and pimento cheese burger along with a flight of bourbon. He said the burger was one of the very best he's had lately. It also came with an extremely generous portion of fries. When he ordered his flight, the waiter asked about what Price range she wanted to stay in, my husband went for about $45. But apparently $35 is about the norm although they can create some thing for less if you prefer. The waiter checked in with the types of bourbon flavors he likes and created a flight for him. When he returned, he talked to us for about 10 minutes solid about each bottle and where it comes from. This guy went above and beyond and was awesome! My husband learned that he definitely prefers the sweeter Bourbons. I don't think the heavy wood flavors made in Japan work quite his style. LOL. But he had such a great time learning more and we were happy to have a relaxing evening!

The moment I walked into Jack Rose Dining Saloon, I embarked on an unforgettable journey of the senses. I was instantly struck by a sight that would excite any whiskey aficionado - a display of fine bourbons and whiskeys covering every inch of the wall. Our evening began with a captivating spread of appetizers. The scallop ceviche, a delightful burst of freshness, was rivaled only by the extravagant bone marrow; a savory treat that melted in the mouth with unrivaled richness. The steak tartare and crispy chicken skin, intended for the daring palate, lived up to their exciting promise. The main course was nothing short of spectacular. The 16oz New York Strip arrived, flawlessly cooked to a medium rare perfection. Each bite was a savory revelation. As a pasta aficionado, I was equally taken by the bucatini pasta, a comforting plateful that tasted just like home. The drink selection at Jack Rose impressed me no end. I found delight in the carefully balanced Trailblazer cocktail, but it was their Old Fashioned that truly shone. This timeless classic offered a comforting, familiar embrace. As a grand finale, my wife declared her Irish coffee as simply the best she's ever had. Jack Rose welcomed us with its laid-back atmosphere, prompting easy conversation and hearty laughter. The adept staff had a skillful way of attending to our needs, subtly replacing empty glassware just when required. It was these refined touches that elevated our dining experience from merely great to truly phenomenal. For all bourbon/whiskey enthusiasts out there, I can't recommend Jack Rose Dining Saloon highly enough. I found myself engrossed in the selection, with each sip more rewarding than the last. Looking back, Jack Rose Dining Saloon was more than just a dining venue - it was a culinary adventure brimming with charm and warmth, a place that promised and delivered an exciting, vibrant night out. As our evening eventually came to a close, I left with a satisfied palate, a heart full of joy, and cherished memories of a fantastic meal that I'd eagerly anticipate reliving.

10/8/21: Reservation 9pm: Used Resy for booking. Upon arrival the hostess was unable to find our reservation even though we had a confirmation, but the manager was really quick to sort the situation out and get us a spot at the bar in the main level dining room. Parking: Complete nightmare. So if you plan to drive on a busy night, plan to arrive 45 minutes early to park and walk. Ambiance: Cozy, romantic, dark & a speakeasy feeling. Whiskey/Bourbon/Libation Selection: Out of this world. However, no prices really listed so be sure to ask before sampling or you may be caught by surprise when the tab arrives. COVID Cleanliness: Very clean, adhering to safety protocols and was not overly crowded. Everyone including staff was wearing masks. Two M|F shared restrooms for customers. There were no paper menus only QR codes to scan. Food: Lamb Merguez Sliders - Star of the show. The pickled onion really balanced this one out. Buttermilk biscuits & Honeybutter - Buttery heaven with a nice selection of jams/spreads. Parmesan Garlic Truffle Wings - SO delicious! The truffle really comes through. Whiskey Wings - I would either put at the bottom of list or not order again. The sauce really doesn’t represent a whiskey flavor and the wings were a bit mushy from the sauce. Cocktails: I wish they had a larger cocktail list. At the time they had about six cocktails to select from. The Fall Punch was very delicious and our favorite. Cuke of the Kentucky - The cucumber and cucumber bitters made this twist on an old fashion so refreshing. Desserts: I wish there was more of a selection. Bartenders: Attentive, knowledgeable, polite and very quick to serve.

The bartenders here are so passionate about what they do. What I loved most is how versed they were in the full history of every drink, and even the components of that drink. The food is a bit overpriced for the portion/quality, but the drinks were strong and the service more than made up for it. Will definitely be adding this to my list of neighborhood spots.

Have been here two times and the service has been excellent and the bourbon knowledge has been on par. Not sure how long it would take a server to know what liquor they have and the ability to speak about each bottle? Place gets loud as it gets later in the night. Make sure to check out the upstairs area.

Great ambience, great service and a fantastic selection of whiskies. We did not have food there but the food looked good too. The host, servers and bartenders were all very friendly and cordial. The whiskey wall on level 1 is breathtaking.

Please take my review with a grain of salt because this was one bad experience out of many great memories I’ve had at Jack Rose. Last night started great - seated at the end of the bar with two other friends. One gentleman pulled a tasty whiskey and went on to help others, and when it came time for us to buy two more glasses, there weren’t any bartenders at our end of the very long bar. I raised my hand. A hefty bartender with a beard and ponytail came down and gave me a high five, but he didn’t ask me why my hand was raised. When I inquired, he said I don’t answer to people waiving their hands in my face. 1) I was trying to signal the out original bartender and 2) I didn’t waive anyone down - I’ve worked in restaurant service and I find that to be unnecessary. I asked what do you prefer on a busy night, when no one is around. He said, “eye contact”. I said, “I don’t have my glasses on - I can’t see distance at all, so I can’t do that”. While I was trying to explain no one is is trying to be rude, we just wanted two more glasses, he cuts in to say, “I get paid either way”. And he walks away. To the staff’s credit, another bartender walked over, and I did try to explain why we were leaving and why I was confused and upset, but I was flustered and so exhausted by the exchange that I gave up. I’m just disappointed and sad because I had one of the best bar experiences there due to the staff and creativity of the bartenders making drinks off menu, then during the pandemic my friends and I supported Jack Rose (and many other places), and upon returning to DC for school, giving me the opportunity to visit my favorite places and excited to share it with friends, this is what happens. The takeaway - no one should assume that there is someone trying to be rude. No one should assume their idea of trying to signal for assistance is the only way. It was incredibly annoying to have some random man tell me that I NEED to make eye contact with him (at the other end of a easily 30ft bar) to order two more drinks, and I can’t even make eye contact with someone who is two seats away. Horrible end to what was a fun evening. Special thank you to the man with another beard that came up and try to fix it; sorry I couldn’t get past the moment and continue to enjoy my time.

Great place to try different drinks. Huge selection. I placed my trust in the waiter's hands and he didn't disappoint. Be sure to upgrade the house pour on the old fashioned.

One of the best collections of Scotch Malt Whisky Society on the east coast, along with lots of other unique bottles with a real range in prices. The staff are eternally nice and thoughtful, and will happily help you find the right pour for your tastes. A date night favorite if whiskey is your thing.

Came here for the 2nd time. Celebrating our anniversary this time. My son joined me & my husband & they shared 2 whiskey flights. We had an amazing, leisurely dinner with an excellent server (Brian) who walked us through what types of whiskey we might like to taste. Tell your server what whiskey you like & what you've already had, & about how much you want to spend & they will design a flight for you. The food was excellent all the way around & fantastic cocktails if you're not a whiskey drinker. The service was great. We'll be back!

What an Amazing Whiskey Collection!! We had a night out of drinks here with our friend who was visiting us and we absolutely loved the place and the collection of whiskeys and bourbon and so many other stuff! The bar tenders are so friendly and knowledgeable about everything! I said I love fruity cocktails with either Gin or Vodka and instant cocktails were created! Must visit in DC

Amazing selection of bourbon, whiskey and scotch. What made the night was how great our service was. Very knowledgeable on all things whiskey, and recommended phenomenal drinks. Can't wait to be back!

This is a very popular place I could tell from the crowd that was in the restaurant even after the kitchen had closed. We had the "Jack Rose Barrel Picks" flight, the "Time in a Bottle" cocktail, whiskey Wings and fries. The whiskey selection in the flight was great, the cocktail and the wings were good as well, however, the fries were not seasoned or salted at all. Service was good but the host could have done better. He just stood there without greeting or anything so we were not sure if he was part of the staff. Upon asking if he worked there, he said he did after which we asked for a table and he led us to one. :/ Parking can be a hassle as the restaurant is in the heart of DC. There is street parking but finding a spot is up to luck.
