The host of this show is… so gross. It was in a weird windowless loft area of the top of what seemed to be an apartment foyer. Camping chairs were set up for seating. The host was incredibly misogynistic and his jokes overall just made no sense and were uncomfortable. The whole crowd felt it. The other comedians were okay, some of them weren’t garnering many laughs and made some awkward silences with really misogynistic content. I won’t be back—there are so many legitimate comedy clubs in DC with comics who have content besides degrading women. Very bizarre experience overall. Also this was advertised as a jazz comedy night, with jazz music prior to the show. By that they meant they played music from the 50s on a blue tooth speaker. So weird. And tix were $25 each. Support more respectful vendors.

The April 8th show was disappointing. The emcee was awful; nothing funny came out of his mouth. The microphone/sound was poor - at least check it out before the show starts. The music was so loud before the event started, that I couldn't talk to my wife. Maybe three of the eight comics were any good; it seemed like they grabbed one stoned guy off the street and let him try to talk for 5 minutes. The only good thing was the artwork surrounding the stage. We had two bottled beers and a piece of cake for $25. The bottled Corona with a lime was the best thing!

Everything about this place was horrible. First of all, it doesn’t matter what tickets you buy because you get the same seats. There is no “special gift” if you want to spend more money. Before the show, there is random music playing - they play like 2 minutes of the song and then change it. There were like 8 comedians that performed and only one of them were kind of funny. The host made the show super awkward, like he was a frat guy who never grew up. The seating was very weird and the seats felt like they were going to break. The drinks were terribly small and filled with ice. I really like comedy shows and I was trying to like this, but it was horrid. Find a different show to see in DC.

Very poor experience here. 10 "comedians" of which 5 were passable. One comic got quite angry with the crowd as we weren't finding him funny. He turned on the crowd and said it was our fault for being from DC. The place was freezing. Like absolutely freezing. Wore my coat and hat throughout. Other people wrapped scarves around their legs. No alcoholic drinks were being served. Just tins of coke / 7 up. We were told to go to the bar next door for a drink if we wanted one but we would not be allowed to bring them back to the venue. Would not recommend from my experience. Update - Apparently I have written a false review. Please look through my other reviews and see that this is not what I do. I'm from the UK. My daughter bought our tickets on line on advance for my husbands 50th birthday present. I have nothing to gain by this negative review except trying to help future people not waste their money like we did.

I didn’t necessarily have the highest hopes for the comedy show, but I went in with an open mind. Unfortunately it was back to back cringe worthy comedians with quite similar material that really wasn’t all that funny. Maybe that’s a bit harsh, there may have been 2-3 comedians that were pretty decent. There’s room for a lot of improvement with the decor… A LOT! The photos on Google seem very very outdated and doesn’t seem like the same venue. Drinks wise, it was okay. But it was a bit gross when the person behind the bar used her hands to pick up the limes that were going in my drink. As the other reviews mention - don’t get the VIP ticket. It makes no difference with the seating… And the gift is one free ticket for 2 to a future show 😂🤣… Cheeky!!!

Great local talent. Intimate space. Wish they would update the seating chairs though; I was holding my breath as I sat on a chair with a shaky leg lol. We felt like I was gonna fall at any minute. The food is not good. The drinks are strong depending on who is pouring them. Just go for the jokes and get drinks downstairs and you’ll be fine.

Well, this was definitely a weird experience. Felt more like a place where amateur and first-time comedians try their material for the first time. Only some of the several comedians in the line-up were funny, and I even considered leaving in the middle of the show. The sound was bad, too, we couldn’t hear some of the jokes as the audio was muffled. Definitely not worth your money.

It’s funny going to the old Heaven and Hell dance spot for comedy these days! The place hasn’t changed — drinks are still terrible, it’s not the cleanest spot — but now they put up a stage and chairs for comedy. I went with an open mind but sorry to say these were not the best comics DC had to offer. I had a better time at a comedy pop-up at Origin Gallery on Mt. Pleasant street, walking distance from here. Giving 2 stars because it wasn’t horrible - we did laugh a little bit.

I swung by this venue having bought tickets online. The tickets weren’t even checked and I think it was just walk in anyway which seemed kind of scummy. The host of the show was terrible, his jokes genuinely didn’t make any sense and I spent my prior week having a blast at some NY comedy clubs which were awesome. The emcee found out we were Australian and the joke was we ride kangaroos instead of bikes. Yeah…honestly it was pretty embarrassing and childish if that’s all they can come up with here. Some of the acts were okay, perhaps 1 or 2 out of 10. The emcee cut the last act off early who seemed to be the best of the lot and was starting to build rapport, but just when an act was getting good, the emcee would come yelling and scrambling onstage after flashing his phone’s light. At the end, they blasted music so loud, to the point it actually hurt our ears as we hadn’t even had the chance to start standing up yet and we’re right next to the speaker. I suspect it was a tactic to get the audience out of the room and head downstairs to the jazz rooms. And yes, referencing the reviews from a years ago talking about broken seats, unfortunately the seats still haven’t been fixed. All up, super rough joint. Drinks were very average and all up, I wouldn’t recommend this even if it was free.

It was not fun at all! It would have been a better show if most of the comics were funny and if the area was already renovated and ready for the public. I wish it was better we would have stayed

Disappointed with the staff and the technical issues. The microphone kept going in/ out and missed half the jokes due to this technical issue. One comedian even commented on how bad the microphone was during his set. I asked three different staff throughout the night that the volume was too low and we had trouble hearing the show. The staff didnt seem to have a solution and never made an attempt at bringing this issue up to the manager/ technical team. The bartending staff was loud with chatting and we couldnt hear the show everytime they were making a drink. Also, the final comedian never made it because he couldnt find any parking. This show was handled very poorly and I am disappointed in my experience.

I was here last weekend, we had a blast. All the comedians were engaging and hilarious! It must have been some special night because Tony Woods dropped in and so did Sean Savoy, I was almost in tears of laughter and so was my husband, cant wait to come back. We arrived around 8:30pm to get seated and we got a few drinks at the bar - the waiter was so nice she said we could get our seats and she would come to us but we felt like hanging out at the bar a bit cause its such a cool bar, cant wait to come back!

I have been to nearly every DC comedy spot & I don’t think I’ll be back. I bought tickets but I guess you don’t need them since nobody checks for them. We got there early but couldn’t get a table…no table service anyway. They had lots of comedians (maybe 15) for short sets, only 2 were funny. The people behind us wouldn’t shut up to even hear, three couples around us were having a make out / grope sesh the whole time, & a man sleeping. It was pretty disappointing all in all.

The other reviews are correct, this was a weird experience. The emcee and a number of the comedians were just not funny or outright uncomfortable. There were 1 or 2 really good comedians though. I found the drinks to be pricey. As for the venue itself, it was pretty dirty inside and the bathrooms weren't that well kept. If you go, you may get lucky with good comedians, but don't get your hopes up.

Had a good time this last weekend with a family party, they were very accommodating to our needs with us wanting to sit together so that was really nice. We were surprised how many talented stand up acts were on the show. The bar drinks are good, my brother said his vodka drink was pretty strong but he liked it. My long island ice tea was perfect and my sisters wine was good too. We had a good time and we look forward to stopping by next time we are in DC again. Thanks Bridget for helping us with our reservation!!!

THIS PLACE SUCKS. All the “comedians” need training on how to use a microphone and the sound tech needs some training as well. The comedians may have been humorous if you had been able to understand what they were saying!

Lots of laughter was had by all! So much fun my friends and I went to the Friday and Saturday show the first weekend of April. The host and all comedians the were hilarious! Much needed comic relief!
