Havis Amanda is a fountain and a sculpture by Ville Vallgren situated between the Esplanadi and the Market Square where vehicles and pedestrians move about this spot, like a roundabout. So be wary of your safety as you take photos of this mermaid.

A beautiful place in middle of Helsinki. Worth taking a look if you are nearby shopping. However this sculpture is worth some maintenance, it is very beautiful in winter time as well. Worth the visit!!!

Havis Amanda is the most popular and iconic statue in Helsinki. The statue shows a nude mermaid leaning backward with four fish spouting water at her feet and surrounded by four sea lions. Havis Amanda (or Manta) is regarded as a symbol of Helsinki and is the focal point of the annual Vappu (May Day) festivities.

It’s one central landmark in Helsinki. You can easily reach to Dock, Helsinki Wheel from this place. It’s also crowded by many street food vendors. Salmon fry is a nice recommendation. Be aware of Seagulls while eating at these shops.

Tällä hetkellä Havis Amanda on viety pois mutta altaan reunoilla voi vielä istua ja syödä vaikka jäätelöä.

Popular meeting place beside the Market Square and Esplanad Park. On 1.5. students wash the lady and give her a graduation hat. Thousands of people will celebrate the happening. Tram 1 and 2.

Stunning to see it frozen! This is an amazing location, right next to the street market at Kauppatori, and at the end of the Esplanadi. Just a short walk from the Central Station, or if you prefer, an even shorter trip on the tram. A must see if you visit Helsinki. If you're there for Vantaa, it's incredible, never seen anything like it. It's crazy busy with large crowds all dressed in their overalls and special hats.

Really pretty statue, controversial in it's day, look up the wiki. Out in the middle of a town square, easy to get to and a park on one side with a harbor on the other. Definitely recommend.

Lovingly adorned throughout the year in festive garlands and garments, Helsinki’s little almost mermaid stands proudly in her altogether at the head of its Esplanade.
