This park was great and family friendly. The beach access was close enough to walk and the views were incredible. There are many large open green spaces for the children to run and play together. The oak trees are beautiful. Shore fishing was a huge perk for the family. The whole family enjoyed the self guided tour of the castle too! The only downfall was how early the park store closed when looking to purchase some fire wood.

Great beach and much more. The walk to the jetty however was a long one even for somebody in prime physical condition like myself 😄. It took a while so we didn't get to check out the other spots at the park. See my photos for some of the spectacular views and empty beaches. Very cool beach that is natural with dunes and no houses or condos.

In my opinion, much better than Myrtle Beach or Seaside Beach. So much less crowded and a lot less things touching your legs and feet as you swim. It's a very beautiful place to go for walks on as well. Its also a really great place to dig a hole in the sand, everyone favorite beach activity. It's probably one of my favorite beaches I've been to.

Loved it. $8 Park entrance gets you into the park and your receipt can also get you in to Myrtle Beach State Park the same day. There are bathrooms a gift shop lovely beach outside shower and playground. You can also visit Atalaya Castle for $2 per person entry fee which is located inside the park. Highly recommend it. Hard to imagine someone living there. They also give you a map of the grounds. I was only able to upload 50 pic🙁

We been coming here for over 4 years now, great place to camp and have the family together. Not a lot of people on the beach if you walk 5 minutes any direction from the access walkway. Only downside it is hard to get a camp site we had to book ours a year in advance. Beach best around! Clean restrooms and a nice little store. Stop by the castle and take a little tour worth the money. Have fun and enjoy!

Another favorite state park of mine Huntington Beach has the best views and picture spots to choose from. Atalaya castle sits near the beach and is fun to tour the grounds of. At Halloween they will often do ghost stories at the castle or even fun haunted tours. There is also a jetty walk that is magical to walk at sunset. Take a significant other and journey down the coast until you reach the rocks! I’ve seen sea turtles, dolphins and more. Then of course there’s the alligator trail where you can see alligators in their natural habitat. All in all a very fun place to come and spend a day in the sun.

We had a fantastic day here. Toured the castle, the wildlife center, hit some trails, and of course, walked the beautiful beach here. This park is definitely worth spending a day!

Beautiful beach and swamp area in one park. We saw alligators and many species of birds, toured the summer home of the couple that made Brook Green Gardens a lovely exhibit of sculptures, and a lovely beach to enjoy. They had a track to the beach which made wheelchair access easier! We also rode through the campground which looked like a great place to camp!

Our favorite beach! Easy access to the beach from parking area. Beach is clean and of you're willing to walk, the jetty offers great fishing. During low tide, we found amazing marine wildlife!

This is a heavenly oasis for nature lovers!! Oh the birds and peaceful solitude!! The jetty is a memorable walk at the right tide level and the beach feels so private because after sunset it’s only resident campers who can go there. Some campsites can hear the ocean. It’s beautiful! The nature center offers great activities for kids! This park is a fantastic place to ride your bike! We have made many happy memories here and can’t wait to go back! Well worth the daily price of admission! One of the most wonderful special gems on the east coast.

If you are looking for shells, this is the beach to go to! Myrtle Beach Park had some nice shells but when we went they were far and few between. At Huntington, it’s shells galore! I’ve taken a pic and a couple of vids of what we got over the course of about an hour. We are truly happy we went and highly recommend. The cost is $8 per adult and it’s well worth it. If you are in the Myrtle Beach area, it’s a bit out of the way but worth the trip down.

This is a really nice state park. The bathrooms were very clean, the walk to the beach and the beach itself were beautiful and the playground was really nice as well. The only downside is that the raccoons are really sneaky and brave and will come take food that is outside even if you're sitting within a few feet of it. I'm still giving it 5 stars because just it's raccoons doing raccoons things, and their behavior is due to guests leaving things out.

Our favorite place to camp. It's stunningly beautiful and clean. We actually prefer the old campground to the new full hookup side bc it's more of the "camping" vibe. All the sites look pretty easy to get into. We have a 38' and this place is much easier to back into compared to other parks in the area. Parents please watch your kids on the trails; there are alligators. :)

What a beautiful place to spend the day. Both North and South Beach areas have good clean restrooms and showers, although North Beach is quieter and no climb to bathrooms. So much wildlife and bird watching, nature trails, bike trails and a Interpretive center. Gift shop, ice and snacks at the South parking area. This park is very popular, get there early or late. I was only disappointed by the speeding cars throughout the park. The narrow roads must accommodate pedestrians, bikers and cars, but many cars zip along like they're on the highway, ignoring crosswalks. I wish there were more speed limit signs posted (and speed lowered!), traffic calming humps, and rangers stopping people to educate.

This was an amazing little getaway on a public beach. You could see alligators, go swimming, little play area for the kids, few picnic table spots, the little old house/castle was awesome. My family and I didn't camp here but that's also an option as well.

Nice park to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax by the water. South end has the gift shop., Atalaya and campground. There’s the entrance where you can bird and gator watch. North end is the jetty and all along is the beautiful beach extending for miles. They have walking trails throughout and a small playground for the kids once they are tired of the water. Restroom has been recently renovated.

Huntington Beach State Park is a peaceful, clean and beautiful location. I was there in September attending my son’s beach wedding ceremony. The bathroom’s were clean, big, and updated. There was a nice playground near the beach that both my grandson and husband enjoyed lol. It is a beautiful location for timeless portraits as well. I’m including pictures from the wedding that were taken there so that you can see the landscape. Conveniently located in between Myrtle Beach and Pauley’s Island, it is about 15 minutes from both. **** ( and look at that gorgeous tree behind us in a couple of the pics! It’s breathtaking!)

Love this beach! There's an entry fee, but it's soooo beautiful and natural. We stayed in a high rise on the beach in town, and came out here one day. We LOVED this beach so much better than the one the condo was on. It's clean, and the dunes are beautiful. It wasn't too crowded, but it's spring break for us and not for the locals. The bathrooms are renovated and super nice! They were painting the exterior while we were there. The castle is also cool, if you have 45 min to check it out. We really liked the story behind it and the architecture!! My second time in myrtle beach and both times we visited a state park and the beaches at the state parks are 1000x nicer!! It's worth the entry fee. There were like 15 small alligators in the marshes on the drive in too. We didn't do the walking trails, but there's a lot of stuff to do here and we just did the beach and castle.

Beach camping at it’s very best! The park is a beautiful maritime forest with miles of beaches. There are two campgrounds, neither of which is actually on the beachfront, but a short walk through beautiful wooded dunes puts you at the surf. The north campground is larger and much nicer than the south campground. The north sites are a mix of wooded and more open sites all with 30 amp hookups and water. A few sites have full hookups. The bath houses are nice, fairly modern and well kept, and there are charging stations at one of them that are picnic tables with a gang of receptacles and usb ports. There are also a few rustic tent sites in the north campground. If you need 50 amps you have to stay in the south campground which is more open, but does have all 50 amp hookups with water and some full hookups. There are coin laundry machines at one of the bath houses in the south campground. The park has a public beach access parking area with a playground and bath house for swimming season, and lots of great walking trails through the mixed forest of pine, cedar, oak, juniper and holly for year round enjoyment. Trails take you through maritime forest, along estuaries, beaches, and a large pond tucked between the dunes. There is an historic “castle” in the park you can tour, and Brookgreen Gardens nearby - plenty to do and see!

My husband surprised me with a Segway tour date here and we had such an amazing time. The Segway tour guide gave us a very educational tour which we enjoyed all of the stories and we had so much fun and we plan to return to explore the castle and the grounds even further. Highly recommended.

A lovely place to visit. The nature center is interesting. We love the wildlife on both sides of the causeway. Beach and picnic areas and facilities are excellent. And the historic mansion is amazing.

We had a great time at the campground here. Even with the rain a couple of days, we had things to do to keep the kids busy. The Nature Center on site was one that helped. Also, because it is relatively close to Garden City, we were able to take the kids to the peir and arcade and still have a blast. The beaches are beautiful and not nearly as crowded as the more populated areas. I personally loved the nature trails and riding my mountain bike through them to get some exercise. The Octopus tree along the Nature trail is a great place for family photo ops! The kids loved riding their bikes to the playground on-site (which seems pretty new). The restrooms / bathhouses appear to be recently renovated and seemed to always be kept clean. The campground / park staff were very nice and we thank them for their hospitality. We will definitely be booking future stays here.

Beautiful place. Well kept and maintained. $8 to enter in May 2022 ($2 to visit the "house"). Thick forest that opens up to a single road that travels over a large swampy lake plain. Filled with alligators! Beautiful views. Plenty of walking trails and sidewalks. Plenty of parking. Play area for the kids with water fountain for humans and pets. The Atalaya Castle is on site which is very interesting. Highly recommended to visit.

A rare Snow Goose was hanging out in the marsh! But damage from Hurricane Ian has closed the trails and the boardwalk. Unfortunately, these were the only reasons we returned last weekend. There is nothing on their website anout the damage and the very nice man at the ticket booth did not mention it either. This is a great park and visiting the castle and beach is really neat, but for us the trail and boardwalk over the marsh are the biggest draws.

This is a nice place to see alligators and other wildlife and a semi private beach. You are able to rent bikes and Segways from other companies to tour the park. There is a cost to enter park. 8 per adult. 4 for kids. 5 and under free. No restaurants near so pack food and drinks accordingly.

Beautiful state park with a variety of activities. Walk along the marsh, bike through the park, enjoy the beach, or tour a castle. Don't forget to visit the nature center! Refreshments available to purchase. Clean restrooms. Picnic areas. Several campsites. The park does have capacity limits. It you don't get in during morning hours, try around 2 pm.

Excellent place to camp, in any mode. Immaculately clean including all bathroom and shower facilities if you need them. Beautiful beaches. Quiet atmosphere. All park personnel and Rangers very nice and unobtrusive. We stay here for Bike Week in May, 7 years now. Many friends that join us.

This is an AMAZING place. There are over 300 species of birds. A fresh water lake and a salt water marsh right next to each other. An amazing nature center with animals to see. A wonderful place to ride bikes as a family. There is camping and hiking and over 3 miles of beach to explore. There is also a gorgeous castle to visit with a rich history. It is worth every penny to get in. It is close to myrtle beach but in my opinion. The fact that the price point for interface is a little high it keeps any nefarious types out and creates a wonderful environment for families to explore. Much more private than the myrtle beach strip!!!! I will 100% be returning soon!!!

Beautiful spot! We arrived just in time for the alligator tour, which was educational and so cool. (Mosquitoes were TERRIBLE, you can't have too much bug spray). Took a very brief walk to the beach, but it didn't disappoint. Atalaya is not your typical "castle" but a very interesting piece of history. Will definitely go back on our next adventure to the area.

Great place to camp. We saw a lot of alligators. The beach was great, there wasn't garbage all over. The restrooms could have been cleaner but overall it was a nice place.

Loved the state park ❤️ Better then Myrtle Beach state park. Changing in restroom only drawback. MBSP has changing rooms and rest room. Maybe a bench outside stalls would be big plus. Loved how we could get Icee or ice cream after time on the beach. Can't wait for next time we're on vacation in area to return.

Huntington Beach State Park is a fantastic destination with beaches that are always clean and well-maintained. The park's efforts to keep the area pristine really shine through, making it a beautiful place to visit. However, it's worth noting that it can get quite crowded, especially during peak times, which might make it challenging to find a spot to relax with your family. Despite this, the park's natural beauty and cleanliness make it a must-visit location.

Beautiful State park. There are amazing walking trails that take you through lovely wooded areas and walkways out over the water. We were here in mid May and the bird watching was incredible. Staff here are very helpful and the entire park is clean and well maintained
