If you are a art lover, do visit the place to look at the art work by a very young lady. The space looks very small but you would definitely appreciate the work and the effort gone behind the work. There's a lot of detailing that has gone behind each piece of work. They have tried to make the museum a bit engaging by adding other attractions in this small place like archery, 3D photo, couple of stalls(to make this place more commercial). The carvings here was told to have taken 7-8 months to complete due to which they only have been maintaining the work for sometime now. The entrance to the museum is ₹60/- per adult.

Sand Museum Mysore: Where Sand Comes to Life - Exquisite Sand Art: The Sand Museum in Mysore showcases a captivating world of sand artistry. The intricate sculptures and detailed creations are a testament to the skill and creativity of the artists. - Fun for Kids: The museum goes beyond sand art, offering small activities like archery and trampoline, ensuring that young visitors have a memorable and engaging time. - Souvenir Shopping: A couple of souvenir shops within the museum provide the opportunity to take home a piece of the sand art experience. - A Unique Attraction: While the Sand Museum is a remarkable testament to artistic talent, it's worth noting that its appeal might not be universal. It's a destination that caters more to those with an appreciation for art and creativity. - A Niche Experience: The Sand Museum in Mysore is a niche attraction that may not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy art and unique experiences, it promises a memorable visit.

I had gone through the reviews before visiting this place and found so many negative reviews about people disgracing the place and the Art form! If this would have been some renowned artist, people would have blindly praised or at least not abruptly criticized! Whether the form is Sand art or not is not my focus, the passion and liveliness she has carved into this is priceless and more than amazing! The entire concept and connection of different themes and graceful expression for long 7 months is ultimate! I personally loved this place and would express immense love and bliss to the artist and her entire team including her father who is extremely humble to people visiting this place with no sense of pride but rich simplicity and politeness ❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's a very small place but the sand art work done is quite impressive. Good to take pictures and buy some local handicrafts and artifacts. The price is not justified though. You would have to negotiate a lot. There is some home made.chocolates counter also inside. And in the end there is a 3d picture booth. If you learn the trick then pictures do come out nice.

The Sand Museum in Mysore offers a unique experience that's worth considering. As someone familiar with large sand sculptures created by skilled artists on beaches, I was curious to explore this attraction during my recent visit to Mysore. Situated enroute Chamundi Hills, finding the museum is straightforward with the help of Google Maps. Walking into the museum, I was immediately struck by the incredible large sand sculptures, a testament to the talents of the lady artist behind them. It's a sight that's sure to impress, especially if you've never seen such large sand sculptures before. I recommend visiting this place to appreciate the artistry and skills of the creator. The sand sculptures take the form of a continuous sand mound transformed into various themes. You can stroll around and admire the diverse subjects, from cartoons to festivals, religion, and different moods. Inside the premises, several small shops offer decorative items and toys, but they occupy a significant portion of the space, making the area feel a bit crowded. Additionally, there's a large cage filled with lovebirds, and visitors can feed them for a fee. However, the smell from the cage was quite unpleasant, and I believe more attention could be given to maintaining cleanliness in the area. One aspect that left a less favourable impression was the approach used to encourage visitors to leave Google ratings in exchange for access to a '3D photo booth.' This approach didn't sit well with many visitors, including myself. In summary, the Sand Museum is a good place to spend some time and appreciate the remarkable skills and artistry of the creator. While it's not without its flaws, such as cleanliness and certain visitor interactions, it's still worth a visit if you have the time and curiosity to explore something unique. Visited this place in 2016. This place is not so big. It is a small place. But we can't underestimate it. There was a long sand sculpture with too many arts within it. Can look about a hour into it. Can spend a hour here. Too many minute details in the sand. Such a nice sculpture by sand

I Visited here 3 days ago. I love this place because i love art and i am also an artist.I spent here about half an hour.I paid 40 Rs for entry fee. There are so many small shops inside this sand museum where you can buy statues of Buddha and other things. An excellent example of creative brilliance, sand sculpture museum offers a creative setting with artistic works. Intricate carvings on the sand, delicateness of the sculptures and their unique themes make it a place worth visiting. If you love art,you must visit here once. This place is not so big inside but there are beautiful things in a small space. This was one of my favorite place which belong to Art.

It's the first Sand Museum of India. There are nearly 150 sculptures on 16 themes. Created by MN Gowri and her Dad. If you visit, you might meet her dad, he often visits here. The art works are really impressive 😃. It's a good place to visit, take photos and buy some handcrafted artefacts.

It’s good but not worth the money they charged 60 Rs but inside area is small. They will also force you to write 5 star review and free 3D art work. ( didn’t liked this approach) most of review is based on same. The sand art is wonderful and good. You can capture photos as well. 30 min to cover inside.

Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum is the first sand sculpture museum in India. The Mysore city is gifted with various interesting sightseeing places, making it an ideal place for holidaying . Sand Museum is the most innovative and recent addition to the list of places to visit in Mysore. It's located on the Chamundi hill road in Mysore, India. It was inaugurated in 2014, on a one acre land with 150 sand sculptures. All the sculptures were designed and built by renowned sand artist M N Gowri and based on various themes. The sand sculptures are really amazing and based on different aspects like religious, Mysore culture and so on. The entire concept, passion and skill is really appreciable though minor scope of improvement still exist. I recommend people visiting Mysore should visit sand museum and enjoy the sculptures and do encourage such superb initiatives.

I just had the honor of visiting the Mysore Sand Museum, and I am in awe of the amazing sculptures on show. This work genuinely exemplifies the highest caliber of skill and artistry. Every sculpture captures the mind with its distinct story. I want to express my deep gratitude to the skilled sculptor that pour their hearts and souls into producing these stunning works of art. It is simply amazing how they can make the sand come to life with their meticulous attention to detail. The sculptures appear to come to life in front of your eyes because to the dedication and emotion that are seen in every line and curve. A superb example of the elegance of sand art is the museum itself. The sculptures' arrangement and display produce.

My visit to the Sand Museum in Mysore left me with mixed feelings. While the intricate sand sculptures were undeniably impressive and showcased great skill, I couldn't overlook the fact that the entry fee felt a bit steep for the overall experience. The museum's uniqueness and the effort put into creating the sand art are evident, but the pricing seemed a tad disproportionate. Additionally, the size of the museum left me expecting a bit more content for the cost incurred. Despite the fascinating sculptures, the value for money aspect does impact my rating. If you have a keen interest in sand art, it's worth a visit, but be prepared for a relatively higher price point. A three-star rating reflects my overall sentiment.

Very unique museum of sand sculptures. Due to limitations in use of sand, the weight, binding properties etc, the output quality may not be same as Madam Tussauds or the likes but full points for the art, the innovation and the efforts. It offers quite different experience than regular tourist spots. There is real talent on work and effort to make huge and complicated structures out of sand, some of them were so intricate that it is difficult to imagine how were they created and kept in shape. Great job, keep it up, scale up.

The sand sculptures are detailed and smoothly carved. Really good artist work. It is well maintained. There are continuous sand sculptures on a limited piece of land. On an average one can spend maximum 1-2hrs in there(it depends). The entry fee was ₹50 per head(adults) when I visited. It's on the way to Chamundi hill, one drop by if they want to.

The sculptures are made of mainly clay but the 3D effect photography is very good. U can play arrow shooting games. There are some small shops selling some small items but the rates are comperatively high as compared to other outside shops. Btw in ₹60 only it's a very good experience to visit there. At last I want to thank the the museum honour who took my photo at the exit point with the art made by his daughter.....🙏🏻🙏🏻

Good place to visit, even though it's not that famous, if you have 1 hour to spare, you can definitely go here. It's not a big place, just small covered campus with lots of amazing and beautiful sand carvings with great details. The entry ticket is also very nominal. Also they have a bird feeding activity inside. You need to pay seperately for this. But the experience is good. I did that and it was very fun.

Beautiful place to visit. It's unique one. I have not seen such exhibition as sand museum. It shows the hard work and passion of the artist for her job. This art needs to be popularised. The same should be made more attractive with the help of government authorities to attract more and more tourists.

Art is good but not worth the detour. Most people visit because their tourist cab drivers upsale this place, so in a way it's tourist-trap.

  • 5/5 Sonali M. 4 years ago on Google
An incredible collection of sand sculptures. It is almost unbelievable that these are made with just sand, water, and glue. I can't imagine how many hours it took to create these beautiful works of art. If you are in the area it is worth the Rs 40 and 30-45 min of your time and money.

Once of the most beautiful spots that we weren't even aware existed. Our driver mentioned this and glad we went in. The sculptures are just amazing, a must see if it's possible for you to visit.

Good place for art lovers which unfortunately I'm not. It all has been made by one girl is though appreciable. As the name suggests, the place has big sand scriptures of animals, mythological characters, cartoon characters and sea animals. If you want to see all these carved on sand, then you should visit the place. We went because we had an extra day on our tour. This along with a sea shell museum near the place are good for art lovers.

Awesome sand art. It's not on go to places when searched on google; but one should must visit this place. And nearby shops are great too for shopping.

So we had heard great things about the sand sculptures in Mysore, and how we should visit this place! So we took the 20 rupee ticket and entered the little tiny place! I must say the sculptures are nice, but the setting of the place in it's entirety is disappointing. You can see algae/moss - basically some green stuff growing on the sides of the sculptures. Some insects have dug holes in the sculptures etc. There are a bunch of entertainment options for young kids, and a few shops as well selling souvenirs mainly! If you have nothing better to do, go ahead. This was however, a big MISS for me!

It is not that good. Just a small place with high entrance fees. Only few Sculptures are here. The art is awesome I don't have any problem with that but fees is more

  • 4/5 sreerag m. 3 years ago on Google
The sculptures are preserved within the museum's metal enclosing, with the overhead waterproof sheets allowing sunlight to pass through. Sculptures are brushed and remade every week in case of damages. According to Gowri, "the biggest challenge" is protecting the sculptures from insects and rodents, despite the usage of insecticides and pesticides..

We went to this place on winter. In evening time. Very unique place to visit you can spend about 20 minutes to completely watch those sand sculptures. All sculptures are made by a single girl which is excellent. Must visit place in Mysore. However most of them not still know about this place.

The Sand Sculpture Museum as its name suggests is a museum of sand sculptures, like the ones that you see on the beaches. Most of the sculptures here are inspired by Hindu myths and characters, although there are a couple of western themed sculptures. The museum is not all that big, but the entry fee is cheap by western standards. The only downside is that it’s a pain to get to. The sea shell museum is close to the sand museum, making these two museums to see in one go. Creative fun with sand!

Amazed by the sand art and the young talents. Enjoyed the place!! Their hard work and creativity is mind blowing ! Most Appreciated!!

  • 4/5 Akshay M. 5 years ago on Google
I like the art so I visited there and I am truly saying that going there was not a waste in terms of time and money. I would strongly recommend everyone to visit once to this sand museum with friends or family. I like the creativity and the way they have made different types of things. The entry fees is only 40 rupees which is worth full. Indeed it was a nice experience.

  • 5/5 Aayush G. 11 months ago on Google
The museum is located on the road to Chamundi hills and is visible from the main road. The museum is a work done by a solo artist and yes, it is too good. The lady has got some serious skills. The entry ticket is only ₹60 which is a bit more than what I think will be commensurate to what the place has to offer. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the efforts and everything but given the number of people visiting this place ₹30-40 would have been a better price. The place also has some local shops for you to buy local items and goods. The sand sculptures are really breath-taking and you are for sure going to be blown away by the skills this lady has. She is the sole person who made all the sculptures and there is a little board which explains the story behind the same. Kudos to the lady and I wish her all the best and as far as recommendation is concerned, yes, please visit this place to support talents and also see some masterpiece in front of you.

Museum is ok. One time visit. Parking is outside on road. It's on the way to Chamundi hills. Inside museum, there are few shops where your can purchase some souvenir. Museum could have been improved. Ticket cost ₹60/- per person

Located on the way to chamundi hill,It's small but a lovely place to visit . They have really big and beautiful sand sculpture. We went on a weekday and the Ticket fee is Rs.60 for adults.

Had been here once before few years and one of the best place if you want to experience good art work with sand. Well maintained and good themes. Located on the way from Mysore city center to chamundi hills.

  • 4/5 Anil B. 1 year ago on Google
The sand sculptures are really beautiful and realistic. The efforts made by the Artist are reflected in these sculptures. Effect of time can be seen in the wear and tear in the sculptures. The museum is located in a very limited area. Entry fees per person is rupees 60. There is, however, no relaxation in fee for children. One should visit this place to appreciate the talent and hard work of the Artist.

  • 3/5 Mohan Krishna Reddy A. 9 months ago on Google
I appreciate the work did with sand with an entry fee of Rs.60 but I didn’t felt it was worth. Also, you need to pay for everything once you get inside and every art/toy/activity is sold at expensive prices. Moreover, 3D selfie gallery room is free of cost if you review them 5star on google 😄

  • 4/5 Dipti G. 9 months ago on Google
First of it's kind sand art museum in India .It's a small place but many sand art sculptures are there ..many different themes and very beautifully created .
