Nothing but the worst treatment from these fools! We booked a rental, confirmed the vehicle and were told that they were all booked out. I then asked for a replacement vehicle which was swiftly denied. So there we were stuck in Fiji with no transport. I spoke to the manager, Natasha, who said it was tough luck and to wait two days. We then went about our way and walked to our hotel. Two days later, we arrived only to be told that no vehicle was available. They are shockingly incompetent. Go next door to AVIS and save your money and your time. TO HELL with this company!

These Budget franchise owners are deceitful and shameless Despite getting email rental confirmation ,when you arrive they tell you they don’t have a car and try to extort more money for a larger car -they don’t care about your needs and ruin your plans. They’re then try and sell you a rental from some other company called Central rental cars …be aware that they hold $1000 for 14 days on your card as well as charge you for example $400 for 2 days use of a shabby Suzuki swift . DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE

I didn’t think I would ever have to rate a business a 1 but honestly a 1 is a stretch for Budget! We booked through Expedia, but the final price ended up being higher when we went to pay, without any explanation. I had to wait over an hour for the staff to come back to the desk as they’d left it unmanned even though we had a booked time. As I waited, another person came to drop off a car, turned out the Vitara was what I had booked but they had given it to this other person as they had given their car to someone else. Just lucky this person returned the car earlier than planned. So they made me wait another 30 minutes to get the car cleaned. Did not give me full tank which was on the booking. Tried to tell me that it would take another 30 minutes to fill the car up even though there was gas station next to the airport. Tried to oversell me their own excess reduction even though I had a lower excess via Expedia. Car was clean enough, started with a jutter which we didn’t make much of …… until 2 days later. When we got up to go somewhere for a day, the car did not start. They sent someone from an hour away who came and said it was a battery fault, but by then our plans for our day were time dependant so we ended up going nowhere. When returning the car, no apologies, no anything. Honestly I feel for the staff as there seems to be inadequate process and policies in place. It’s run like a backstreet car hire rather than an international brand. Would never book with them regardless of price! Wasn’t cheap either! Car/service/offer not worth it! Looking at other reviews, seems it’s an ongoing trend.

I'm am 21 so hiring cars over seas is hard but we called up and they said it was fine. After 3 weeks of planning and making sure everything is okay.which they said I could hire the car even sending me a email saying it is okay for me to. When I get there the woman refused to give me a car even tho I had paid for it. Plus she wouldn't even look at the booking saying that they know I was 21 and they said it was fine. Don't use this company if you can.

I would rate this company well below zero. We hired a car from the Budget dealer in Labasa for 3 days from the 4th April this year. What an ordeal to get our deposit back, many phone calls and emails and promise after promise. We returned to Australia on the 3rd of May and continued the emails and phone calls until having given them an overly generous time to return our deposit, on the 18th of May we lodged a Disputed Transaction with our bank and our deposit was finally refunded on the 24th of May. We will not use Budget again and we will not recommend them to anyone.

TERRIBLE!!! Not only was my car not at the location specified on my booking email (they had moved and failed to update their comms) but 3 weeks later i STILL have not received the bond refund. I am given all the excuses under the sun. I would also rate them a zero if that was an option. NEVER again will i use this company.

Budget Fiji took a FJD 500.00 "bond" from my credit card. Not a pre-authorisation, but actually took the funds from my account. They advised that the "bond" would be refunded after 14 business days of returning the vehicle, which has now passed and they have not refunded. They also do not respond to multiple emails. They don't realise that I have now disputed the charge with my credit card company and they will incur additional fees for me doing so. Silly and would not rent from them again.

The worst customer service I’ve experienced world wide. Far from the welcoming Fiji experience all over the Islands. The company has consistently terrible reviews, but as this three day trip was last minute, it was one of few cars available. The car, after leaving the airport, immediately had issues unlocking and starting. At one point we were stuck outside the car for 2 hours and once inside, it wouldn’t start for an hour. The next morning it happened again (a total of 6 times having issues), we couldn’t get in the car for half an hour and it wouldn’t start for another half hour. I figured this was the key battery and as we were staying nearby the airport, I returned to there where we waited for half an hour for an attendant, where, of course, the car started fine. The attendant called his manager and said we could change to another car, a man would drive us to their garage and we would swap. The man driving us said the battery was low and in the hot weather we should hold the key close to the start button, but this wouldn’t help us when we can’t even open the car. We arrived at the company garage where the man driving us said I should tell the manager woman what had happened as they wouldn’t want to rent bad cars to people. I spoke to her but she ignored me, looking grumpy, got into the car and proceeded to turn it on and off. I went to her in the car and tried to explain that I think it was simply the key battery, but she still just ignored me. I began to feel very angry. My elderly mother was stuck in the heat and despite another attendant driving the new car to us, the woman said no you can’t get in that, we have to follow a procedure. The first words she even said to me! I said we were told the car would be ready and we would just swap, we have waited long enough already. She simply said wait and closed her office door on me. With nothing further for a while I entered the office and showed her the extremely low reviews her business was receiving and said it’s only going to get worse, that her customer service was the worst I’ve ever experienced and that I expect a car to be made available immediately. She told me to get out and close the door. The other attended them showed me he was changing the key battery, a simple fix. When this was complete she came out of the office and looked very angry at me. We got in the original car and we’re ready to leave when she gestured angrily toward us. I got out of the car, she closed the door on us, so I opened it and said all you needed was one word! Sorry! As she slammed the door towards my partner he had to put his hands up to avoid being hit by the door. This woman and experience ruined our short time in Fiji. I will return, but I will not set foot anywhere near Budget in Fiji. Last time I rented from Coastal and their service was cheap, clean, reliable and friendly!

Same deal as everyone else on here. Booked months ago, no car available, unwilling to help. Thankfully the guy next door at Avis helped us out.

Do not use these idiots. I have had the same experience as numerous others on here. Booked weeks ago, confirmed a few days ago. Got a call a day before our flight to tell us they can't honor the reservation, and don't have replacement vehicles. "Nothing we can do, the website sends the updates, we don't" They can't even send us anything in writing confirming what they are saying on the phone. Absolute joke. Will be lodging a complaint with the Consumer Council of Fiji and with the Tourism board. They should not be allowed to operate like this.

Got the wrong car. Had to go back for the right car. Which had broken mirrors, no ac, did not enjoy at all. Finally accepted a manual van just to get rid of the no ac car. Not happy at all. And 3 weeks later, holding deposit of FJ$1k has not been refunded.

Horrible. Wish I had read reviews before trying to rent. Rented online and after traveling there was told all the cars had been rented??!! Really!? STAFFED BY MONKEYS. Luckily the nice guy at Hertz next door hooked me up for a similar price. Definitely didn’t have to and was a clear opportunity to take advantage of a tourist, but was reputable and honest.

If I could give zero or negative star, it would still be understatement. I am simply disgusted by the level of unprofessional behaviour we experienced yesterday. I booked a car in August and despite 4 month’s notice when we turn up yesterday, there was no car. There is no concept of customer experience and our holiday start is ruined due the below amateur standard we experienced from Budget rentals Fiji yesterday.

Warning!!! Never rent a car from Budget Fiji. We've rented from them 3 times and we should have stopped after the first incident but lesson learnt. The First time we rented the SUV was not there and they had to take us to another car rental company to pick up a different small car (all they had). Second time was the same, we specified that we will pick up the car at 10am. They said the Truck we ordered is not in Suva and we had to go to Nadi to pick it up, ended up with a compact car instead. Third rental was just a plain fraud and a money grab, after the rental was returned and we flew back to our home country we got an email stating we took the spare tire, we are from overseas what would we need the spare tire for? then they tack on damages after the fact. Damages found after the return inspection was already completed. Beware of Budget Fiji, we use Budget for other international trips but Budget in Fiji is not the same and should not be under the Budget umbrella of companies.

I booked a car with Budget Fiji airport rentals and when I arrived, they acknowledged my booking but did not have the car I booked or an alternative car available. Lots of shoulder shrugging. No apology or attempt to find a vehicle to honour the booking. I still haven’t received the monies I paid through ‘Wisecars’. I initially received an email Wisecars- saying they would investigate but that they could not get a response from Budget. I’m still waiting for my refund.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE If we could give a minus 5 star I would. We were kept waiting for over half an hour in a small hot room at the office to be told that the car was on the way. After another 15 minutes we were told again it's just leaving the airport (10 minutes away) 20 mins later a car pulled up and the female owner came in and said you need to come to the airport to collect?? We were so confused, I had checked the pick up details the day before. On the way to the airport the 2 owners were talking about how they were going to charge a client more for a flat tyre, they clearly didn't know I could understand them. There was no sorry or anything, they were rude and dodgy, I wish I cancelled the booking then. On the return the stand over guy took us back to the car walked around it and touched every panel like we had damaged it. We questioned his behaviour and demanded to speak to the owner who informed us they need to service the car to determine If we damaged the motor?? Let just say we lost it. I will be making a formal complaint to the franchise office of Budget . They are the the most underhanded company I have ever dealt with.

I have been waiting for the refund of the $1000 bond that I paid when I hired a car from Budget Rentals in Nadi, Fiji. I was told that the bond would be refunded in 14 working days. It’s been three weeks now and I haven’t been refunded. From the start they seemed careless and unhelpful . Have tried calling Jennifer at their Denarau office but she doesn’t respond. Sent her messages but she doesn’t respond. Will be writing to the Minister of tourism in Fiji and the right honourable prime minister Mr Sitiveni Rambuka and telling him about the unprofessional business practices of this company. I won’t recommend Budget Rental company to anyone.

Stay away! Absolute scam. When we got to their office at Nadi airport they said the car we’d booked and fully paid for on Expedia (late model automatic SUV w air conditioning) was not available. Instead they offered us a beaten up old manual UTE w no air condition. After arguing our case for almost an hour we finally got a better car which we were told was reserved for someone else who then presumably would get flogged the UTE. We were then told we had to pay $1000 cash as a deposit to be refunded from the bank within 2 weeks of returning the car. As we had no option we paid the money. When the money hadn’t been returned after more than a month and multiple phone calls we got the tourism police involved and then suddenly the bank released the money. Minus $50 which we’ve never seen. We were cruisers spending months in Fiji but if you’re just a regular tourist I think the chance of getting your money back is nil.

What happened to me here seems to be a pattern when I read through the comments here. I had a valid reservation, got to the rental counter and they said they didn’t have a car for me. They wanted me to pay for a bigger one with a much higher deposit. They then said they’d get me a car from another rental company, but they in turn wanted much more money. All while I saw them rent a car of exactly the size I reserved to a person ahead of me without a reservation, for a much higher price. I can’t believe Budget lets people like that use their name. This is highly illegal.

For the second time when pre booking and pre paying for a rental car with air points we got to the Budget counter at Nadi to be told "Sorry , the previous person has not returned the car you booked." Both times we were then given a dodgy Suzuki van with no air conditioning. To add insult to injury this time we were also charged FJ $1000 on the day of pick up, which we still have not been able to get refunded despite numerous phone calls to the company. The credit card team are now working on this case. We will definitely not use the company again!

I will give this company 0 star if possible. DO NOT USE IT! DO NOT EVEN GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD! We book a car yesterday with the free cancellation policy. The booking showing the deposit is $500, once we are there, they ask us $1000 for the deposit, and the deposit is a CHANGE NOT HOLD! This is really strange and I checked the google reviews, found out all the bad reviews about this company. I didn’t want to take the risk, so I asked my driver license and credit card back. I also asked for all the paperwork back. However today I just found out that I still got charged for the $1000 deposit! They charged my card for $1000 without my permission and did not even notice me or give me receipt! I don’t even know how did they charge my card. This is a 100% SCAM! This company is crazy and will do everything they can to scam you! STAY AWAY FROM BUDGET FIJI NO MATTER WHICH LOCATION! DON’T GIVE THEM YOU CREDIT CARD! SAVE YOURSELF FOR THE HASSLE! Now I need to contact my credit card company to report this and cancel the card for me. Who knows what are they going to do with my credit card in the future.

Please listen to these reviews below. I did not. Booked a month ago and they have called to say they have cancelled our rental car and we arrive in two days. They have also cancelled the bookings of a further 13 customers.

One of the most rubbish car rental services we have ever come across. Booked an 8 seater van with these guys and all was confirmed and good. On the day of receiving our rental our flight flying in from Auckland was delayed so by the time we got out of the arrivals section and went to pick up our rental it was 1hr past the pick up time! Unfortunately the staff told my husband they didn’t have an 8 seater van available! When my husband asked how come as we had a confirmation from them, they couldn’t give an exact reason. At first they said they don’t do 8 seaters ( then why advertise on your website?)! When my husband asked them that they started to get all nervous and said they will call around and see what they can do. After calling around “everywhere” they finally got through to some female manager. This lady lacks any form of professionalism, is rude to the core, full of attitude and was trying to blame my husband for the rental not being available. She also made a few excuses and then tried to say because we were one hr late she gave our rental away to someone else. Yet the staff at the counter are saying the vehicle was never available to begin with. My husbands cousin who lives in Fiji and works at the airport, went to the rental company earlier to advise them of our flight delay and we should be out soon. The staff at that time had told him as well they have no 8 seater vans available! So there you go this manager was caught in another lie! She then had the audacity to tell my husband to wait an hr or the whole night until they find a replacement rental. When my husband told her off, she then tried to get my husband to pay double and take 2 vehicles instead as they can’t find an 8 seater rental that’s available. Furious is an understatement, like how hard is it to just do your job properly and not waste peoples time! If you don’t have something, don’t send a confirmation. Management really need to learn customer service and how to deliver good service. Don’t falsely advertise your vehicles and then try to extort more money when you’re at fault! Accept it own up and apologise. Luckily for us the rental company hertz next door to these guys had an 8 seater available and booked it for us straight away. They even told us that this is nothing new for budget rentals in Fiji. They do this to pretty much every customer. So please save yourself the hassle and stress and don’t book a rental with these guys. They are unprofessional, rude and simply not up to par with being a good rental company. I would like to add the 2 staff men at the front desk were smirking the entire time. To whoever the CEO is of this company perhaps do better training with your staff and teach them basic manners!

Like everyone else, I have not received my bond back. They obviously charge it instead of take it as a hold as they assume people won't remember the bond was taken. Fraudulent way of getting more money, and would not recommend to anyone. I will be disputing this with my bank.

  • 4/5 Tanya M. 1 year ago on Google
The vehicle was good. Jyoti at Budget Denarau was fantastic. The car we wanted was unavailable but she made sure we got the next best car. I am very impressed with how she went all out to ensure we had a vehicle delivered to our pickup because we made changes. And even called us on her day off to ensure we were happy. I must say the only thing I feel that lets them down is their systems. The owners need to upgrade their systems. The staff do a great job with what they have. Hopefully it doesn't take long to get our bond back as it was higher than we thought and the car was returned with no issues. Update to this post It has been over 2 months since the car was returned and still no bond despite many emails and international phone calls. It took 3 weeks for them to lodge their paperwork and they are still gathering information and getting approvals. This isn't right, this money isn't theirs, it should only be held only for the three weeks they advised when we paid for the car. I had such high hopes and am very disappointed that they don't seem to think this is important. I would be silly to use Budget Nadi again. You've ruined the happy memories of our holiday.

  • 1/5 Cory L. 1 year ago on Google
I've had my wisdom teeth removed, and I would repeat that experience before dealing with Budget in Fiji again. The 2 hours it took to collect the vehicle, despite there only being two people collecting cars that day, was frustrating, however doesn't compare to waiting over a month to have the security bond money returned (still waiting). I couldn't recommend Budget any less.

  • 1/5 Matt S. 1 year ago on Google
Do not use this location. They stole our deposit. It has been 9 months and Budget headquarters apparently has no control over the behavior of regional offices. Many calls and emails later and still nothing, it's 'in review'. We have a record of the car being returned in perfect condition and the sign off slip but it seems like there is a pattern of this location stealing deposits.

After almost 3yr pandemic our family decided to travel to Fiji for a surprise , relax holiday in earlier of last month. Unfortunately at the end of the lovely trip while we returned the rental car our happiness and joyfulness were totally destroyed by cheating and dishonest services of the Budget Rental . We were told there was a small scratch on the car which we never did . Apparently the small scratch looked like old damage. We were in hurry to catch up on our airplane. No time for arguing, finally we were told they will refund most of our bond ( $500 Fiji dollars) in a week time , only deduct small amount of money for repairing the small scratch . Goodness there was only $1. 25 bond refund in our account after weeks waiting . We have been ripped off by Budget Rental without any explanations😱😡

As others said, no car available, budget severely overbooks. Staff is super friendly and I was able to get the same price next door, after playing hard ball.

Just like the rest of the reviews below, we arrived with a reservation we made months ago and they had no cars left. They do not maintain any sort of inventory management here. Not sure how Budget is allowing this location to stay in business.

SHOCKING SERVICE! I will never use again. Arrived and they told me they didn't have a car available as it hadn't been returned. Offered me a smaller car which I wasn't happy about. Then said they had a larger car available and when I decided to take that, the boss arrived said it's not available then accused me of drinking when I got annoyed. I ended up with smaller car because I just wanted to get to my resort. When I returned the car the staff were very unhelpful and took ages. I started talking to a guy at the counter who looked as annoyed as I did and he told me he had arrived at 6am that morning (it was now 6pm) and they didn't have a car available for him. He had spent the day taxiing everywhere as he was there to organise an event. Shocking service! If anyone has had good service, they are probably fake. Haha! DO NOT USE BUDGET!
